  • Ep. 8 Moustiers-Sainte-Marie is a dream world. It's off the beaten path which makes even more special when you arrive. Next to Moustiers is the famous Gorges du Verdon - the Grand Canyon of France. This beautiful area has some of the most stunning turquoise water and jaw dropping cliff sides. It's also the birthplace of sport climbing (aka rock climbing).

You guys should go to Eze, only a 20 minutes drive from Nice, or by train about an hour.

Don't expect too much of McDonalds in France, it's still cheap food with dry thin meat in the burgers. There is nothing "fancy" with having tables and chairs to sit.
But you can find better burgers in many other places though.

The McDonald’s in Canne on the harbor looks like a bistro, and has table service

Cependent, there are so many beautiful towns en France. Objectively, how do you arrive at nombre 1? Vivre en France surtout dans les petities villes, tu as parle francais courante. Au moins parle DELF A2 niveau certification a recevoir longue term visa. Preference, B2 DELF niveau.

What's with the food restrictions for pregnancy ? It sounds like specifically American to me, like in France, if you're pregnant, then don't drink, don't smoke and that's it. I've never heard anything about like "Raw honey" (WTF is that ?) and having to eat well done meat and no unpastorised things.

This is standard in both countries. Only pasteurized foods. Cooked well done.

Raw honey does exist. Check it out. Pasteurisation (from French scientist Pasteur who died in the 19th century) supposedly kills heathy bacteria.

Did you learn the French language before you moved there? That seems to be one of the biggest impediment to moving there for many.

@@RoamarooMost of us frenchies can speak 2 or more languages, that is french + at least 1 other at a basic level. The other being mostly english (like 60%), or spanish, italian, german, or arab for historical reasons, i can see it being an issue for your kid(s) but not really for adults...
However, advanced skills are more on the rare side, and we are very shy in languages we don't really master, high level conversations might prove very difficult to have !!!
Do you feel like we don't want to make the effort (very possible, especially around Marseille) ? Or our skills are simply too low, even for simple conversations ?
Hoping you're finding your marks here, not the easiest country to go to from the US ^^
Have a nice day everyone 🖖
