at least you dont have to fight civ5 barbs that spawn faster than you can kill them unless you go all in at them from the start every game

What would you think of settling Uppsala two tiles west? Knowing you have a neighbor who's likely to attack you - forward settle on a hill with walls to draw all of their attacks and then peaceably develop the cities behind it?
probably a good call but i wanted the gems and didnt think that far ahead; also its REALLY far away so the maintenance and supply lines will be pretty absurd. i guess you could put another 3E of it. its easy to say in hindsight but in early stages i was just grabbing most functional 2nd and 3rd cities.
Is it even possible for sugar to naturally generate in such huge patches? I have never seen that before. I feel like some of those might have been placed manually.
Sugar I do see a lot of sometimes I think it's two separate clusters rng'd into one spot and each cluster can have 2-4
The map gen can sometimes put a cluster at one location yes. I've seen starts similar to Monty's in this video. Fractal is after all a map with unpredictable land ;)

what makes zulu monty worse than regular shaka? you would hardly be able to contain monty even if he got a religion as aztec. i dont think it being monty or shaka makes a huge difference here.
@@yearnrommel711 I think this version of Monty was extra pissed because he didn't get a religion, would not even cease fire for more than 1 turn!
Jaguars are terrible and regular monte can easily be pleased with religion

I really wonder why the AI just suicides it's units like that when it's obvious it's for no gain.
it depends on the AI, the monte/shaka/napoleon ape like AI will attack at 1% odds while the peaceful wimps will be too scared and just walk around.

What's with setting the barb tech? Are your lets plays purely for entertainment purpose? Are they guides? Did anything even change by 'cheating' like that?
I guess it's just for entertainment.
Barbs are meant to have these techs, there is just a bug where it doesn't give them when you play a scenario. It's cheating to NOT add them because the barb cities will spawn with warriors instead of archers

I thought it was meant to speed up your own research since in some other videos you delay researching for a discount if you meet others.
Figured that perhaps the moment you see barbs you also get that or something.
Nah nothing to do with that, barb archers are a big part of why deity/immortal is hard so it's important they start with archery
