  • It’s been in the news a lot that there is some sort of uprising in Spain against tourists and in particular, British tourists.
Well I’m here on the Costa Del Sol, so let’s have a chat about it

I live in Spain , have done for 8 years , this is total MSM BS , Spain relies on its Tourism industry, The pandemic ruined many businesses, they want the trade back desperately , Stop believing the MSM ,

I live in Birmingham, you don’t hear English spoken on the streets anymore. I heard more English spoken in a recent visit to Prague and Athens

If they prefer refugees they can have ours if they want and we'll all stay at home and maybe give our seaside towns a chance

In Turkey, I encountered drunk British tourists in a restaurant having a food fight with other British tourists. Bad behaviour is why Mediterranean people are tired of tourists from the UK.

I'm quite happy to stay in the UK and not spend Euros supporting their infrastructure and their local businesses, I'm a regular to greece

Jon, I live in France (Brittany), my experience here as a Brit has been nothing short of hell on earth!!

  • @fus149hammer5

Well if they don't want us, fine. There's plenty of other countries in the world only too happy to take our money.

A bit like England the authorities and police do not like the English it seems.

Barcelona is the worst. Basically a tourist theme park. Very overrated place and could feel the hostility from the locals. Not somewhere I’ll be returning to.

My daughter lives in Spain - This is the work of the EU commissioners, they will never forgive us for Brexit 🤣

Was in Barcelona 7 years ago and saw these slogans everywhere. Will never return to Spain again.

Many Spaniards sold many towns and properties because they were run down shat holes and were very happy to take the money given for their over valued properties and now after many decades of improvements the Spaniards want it all back and are trying to make life uncomfortable to aid getting the properties back now they are worth living in. I can obviously sympathise with the locals being inundated with gobby tourists BUT they would soon miss the boost to the local economies from the gobby ones. A real case of swings and roundabouts.

We are in Tenerife today as part of a cruise, 80 people have had bags snatched. 80! Soon tourists won’t want to come anyway..

Dont take the piss out of Spanish beer it needs all the flavour it can get

  • @katscotty

I think the rental problems are actually due to the whole airbnb concept the landlords get far more money renting out as airbnb rather than a 'normal' rental so this impacts locals trying to rent somewhere, so the anti-tourism gets worse - rather than just 'larger louts'

Can't say i'm surprised - both times ive gone to Spain i've been stuck on with the plane there or the coach to the hotel with the biggest knuckle dragging dredge of humanity. Never had it travelling anywhere else. If they super taxed the booze the calibre of brit to visit would drastically change.
