Why does the BBC still exist? If only we had a Government that represented the public and public opinion.
It's the fact that the government tried to say the BBC are impartial 😂
There's never been a government who represent the people. They've always been the henchmen of the psychopathic elites who own the world banks, energy companies, pharmaceutical cartels etc. Parliament and voting is just a smoke screen to make it look like we have a say in what happens to us.
@williamthompson...I agree with you mate..and yes if only ..if only.!!!
You can't get a politician from any party to represent our views
It's the Labour Party that traditionally have been the keenest backers of the BBC as the politicians have much less control over the press over accurate reporting of such matters as "massaging" the immigrant numbers coming into the country, etc.etc.
BBC doesn't need to be "manipulated" - just keep silent, then no-one can accuse anyone of anything.!!!
And the biggest joke is that people pay for it.
Well said
They have some decent shows

If you pay the BBC licence fee at this point then you deserve everything you get.
But if you don’t pay the licence fee you are harassed and abused. Then if you still don’t pay it you are prosecuted and become a criminal. This is what you vote for in every election no matter who is elected.
Yes, that's why I choose to pay it.

How can they justify a newsreader getting over 400 grand? A kid in primary school could it
Never mind that how can Zoe Ball get nearly a million? She's awful.
It's not easy reading a teleprompter ,ask stevie wonder
They're bell ends!
Agreed an they prioritize their own agendas before news the people actually want to hear or know about it's a joke the bbc should be shut down
a 13yo kid who plays tetris could do better 🤣🤣
Those salaries are a joke and need dropping massively! they sit and tell us the news pay them £20k per annum and no more, as for lineker he presents MOTD once per week and on the odd ocasion the BBC has a live match he presents that for me that doesnt warrant an over £1m per year salary get rid of this scam once and for all
Looking into Lineker's wage back in 2019 was the reason I stopped paying it.
I can’t remember any of them telling us they earn £20K per annum ……it’s common knowledge and available to anyone who wants to do a FOIR how much they earn and it’s a hell of a lot more than that. Take Huw Edwards for instance …..his salary is around £495,000……yes you read that right about 3 times what the PM gets. Absolutely mental…….taking the piss out of the licence payer . Stop paying now !!!!!
The BBC needs to make it's mind up if it's a publicly funded organisation or a commercial enterprise.
If they are commercial then they can cancel the license fee right now.
They need to go fully commercial by 2027, so that the British public are free to choose to watch them or not without legalised coercion.
They need to produce stuff people want to watch.
I'm glad I've cancelled the licence, the £159 is better in my pocket to feed my family for a week rather than one of the top ten earners having a random champagne brunch on a Tuesday afternoon.
Still shake my head at Zoe Ball being that high on the list. I cannot think of anything of relevance she's done.
Used to be Fearne Cotton was high on that list until she resigned in 2015 saying her job was "ruining her mind". Glad she got out, hope she is recovering.

Happy New Year Jon! Yes the BBC are a joke but the biggest jokers of all are the "customers" who 1. waste time watching it and 2. actually PAY for it!
So if you don’t break the law you’re a ‘joker’. Fine example of society you are. Much as I hate the BBC, haven’t watched them in years and think the licence is a disgrace, I do still watch live TV, so therefore pay for a license.
@@frankanderson5012more fool you then
@@frankanderson5012Why do you pay it, are you afraid of confrontation?
You have to pay for it to watch other Broadcasting channels, not just the BBC and you also need one for major live streaming content such as live sports feeds and events, streamed broadcast channels shown on Amazon Prime, TH-cam etc.
@@jonprice3342 For YT, that is only for those channels, who are also licenced Live Broadcast channels for UK television, like bbc, itv, ch4, sky. Watching Live shows/programmes by youtubers and the like are not required to have a bbc licence. Amazon Prime can only show Live Broadcast television, if you have downloaded an additional App for that purpose (according to their own website), so again, no bbc licence needed. You need to list all of the facts, when you make such statements, like yours.
Sounds like it needs to be challenged in court

Maybe you could push for Britain to 'borrow' an idea from the Netherlands; the "Balkenende norm" - named after a former prime minister - caps the salary for any government job at 130% of the salary of the prime minister.
The Balkenende norm - 🙂 and this is where it gets relevant - applies to all Dutch public broadcasters.

Does anyone else feel a bit sick when they look at those salaries and how the bbc racket is funded?
I'm not against people earning a good wage, it's the way they generate income that is disturbing.
Charge everyone whether they watch bbc or not - if people fail to pay they set their Capita heavies on them.
Many people are under real financial pressure now and are no doubt cancelling their tv licence out of sheer desperation.
Isn't it time the bbc gave people a choice, like sky, virgin, netflix, prime etc do?
You have a choice, stop paying, ignore capita letters, send all dodgy goons packing with no talking other than see you bye and enjoy the freedom.

Good on this one Jon, if these people just sit and read an autocue to give us news or programme announcements, what a fabulous rate of pay they are getting.
Actors and programme makers we probably understand the salaries, but just sitting reading to camera three or four times daily and driven (if required, so I am informed) from home to studio and home again, what a great job that must be!
Don't forget making facile jokes and " witty " asides , to make us ordinary folk , the audience , feel included . That's important too . Definitely worth a few thousand of the license fee payer's money .

It's a subscription in my mind. I don't subscribe, so I pay zero, nada.
I haven't watched the BBC for several years now. I'm away on a break at the mo and the only channels available on the hotel TV are the 4 main ones. I popped on BBC news and within 3 mins of watching it had me twitching in anger! Honestly, how anybody watches or takes them seriously is beyond me.

There are no shareholders, it’s owned by you and I, the public. All money made from selling programmes overseas, for example, goes back into the BBC budget, not shareholders’ pockets. There are two sides to every story.

Yes, all sounds very dodgy, with money passing under the table from those overseas operations which could be used to financially support their broadcasts in Britain (for what they're worth).
Very crafty in taking licence fee money to make series, which then end up being sold abroad, and the proceeds from sales abroad go into a different account.

If they are getting around the same pay as the rest 300k -400k that worked out to be nearly 2 million a year at the lowest number
I’ve said before and I’ll say it again if people truly want to stop the BBC then mass cancellation of licence fee payments is what’s going to get their attention and that of the government just imagine if even two thirds of people who pay suddenly stopped the BBC would be crippled (I was going to say pointless but it oreads is)
Yes it'd be a good start but... the process wouldn't be an immediate stop as they effectively print their own money and the budget is unlimited. After about a year or so employees would be slowly and quietly let go (no doubt also paid to sign an NDA and Official Secrets Act agreement).

More to the point why does a license fee still exist - I cancelled mine in December - I don't watch live TV and I certainly don't watch anything produced by the BBC I think their news is biased anyhow. So I don't have Iplayer, I have Netflix, Discovery +, Prime and Disney more than I could ever need and I can watch it when I want to and pause it when the dogs bark or the mobile rings and easily pick up anything from where I left it. Live TV is going the way of the Dodo in my opinion - I have even put a sign up outside my house saying No License Needed and spreading the word to all that knock on my door - I,ve had the first letter which only took 7 days telling me there has been a problem with my direct debit LMAO - not a problem - I cancelled it
Nothing could be worse than the grating mindless chuntering of Fearne Cotton on Radio 1 or presenting music coverage on TV. Her interview style was to ask closed questions, e.g. “so x you’re performing at x huge event, ARE YOU EXCITED???” TRULY PATHETIC. Completely stunk up and ruined live pop music TV coverage during my youth. How they still have the nerve to talk about quality after so many years of pushing that empty vessel, I do not know 🤷♂️

Hiya.. The BBC also owns UKTV, and they use adverts within programs..
Phil'👍👍👍
I had another letter today after doing the government and bbc saying on the site I know longer need a license form
Back in the days before cable, satellite, and the Internet we were told we needed a licence to receive TV and radio signals. Interesting that the licence for broadcasting was about £10 a year to take up bandwidth on the airwaves yet to just receive the signals was many times that amount. Clearly not a licence in any technical fashion especially since they reworded the licence requirements to accommodate modern technologies.
Don't pay it, don't fill out the online form, phone them from a withheld/spare number all they need is your address to say you dont watch TV. Don't give them your name or anything else.
Proud to have never paid a TV licence.
Who is the head of bbc studios, is it the same person as the normal bbc.
No
But the current DG of the BBC was the head of Studios before he got this job
You are so right it appears that everyone on the TV today is a millionaire for doing very little. Weekends are full of cookery shows with guests advertising the latest book they've written making them even more cash.
Like so many equality rubbish. Like police, post office and fire brigade. We know who does the hard, needed work. Men are being shoved into a dark hole.
Normal pay is £50,000 high end. £395,000 is more than a house each year. Do they pay 40% tax on £350,000? Do they pay £140,000 tax? I bet it goes trough production companies at 20% tax on profit.
