Great video, really useful, we had one of these included with the caravan when we bought it, found the wrench in the front locker and didn’t realise that it was for the lock, will save me taking my wrench kit - brilliant.
Ah perfect. The wrench for my old lock also had, at one end at flat bit for removing the dust cover. My new one doesn’t have it though which I thought was a bit cr@p, why change that? Weird.. Graham
Thanks for the comment. TBH on a twin axle they are a real pain in the backside! I bought a trolley jack to make it easier. Still not as easy as a single axle....Graham
Hi. I know how difficult they are we align the front and then jack up the van and fit rear. At least you get insurance discount. I might get lock and Level look really good. Cheers Oliver
Good vlog👍🏻👍🏻. A little bit of advice from a new subscriber. If u line the front lock first either before u unhitch the car or on the motor mover then u don’t need to jack the van up as high to alighn the second wheel. I also noticed that u had the corner steadies down😬. That would be putting so much strain on the opposite side steadies. Also I carry a nice strong piece of wood with the jack to put underneath just incase the ground is soft. Looking forward to future vlogs 👍🏻👍🏻😎
P.s. if u have caravan club insurance and when your staying on there sites you only need to fit 1 lock to validate the insurance 😎👍🏻. Makes life that little bit easier
Thanks for the advice. It's our first twin axle and first time I'd put the locks on, so any advice is appreciated :-) Ah, yes good point about the steadies, hadn't thought of that. Getting one wheel lined up and putting that one on first is the way I'll go in future. Graham
Great vid, thank you for sharing. Im not an expert on twin axles, but just thinking laterally would it be easy to shunt back and forth to align the 1st wheel, lock in place etc, then jack the caravan and spin the 2nd wheel? let me know your thoughts. I'm glad I'm not the only one who looses the pesky yellow cover... i had to buy a pack of 10 from the show a year or so ago... Guess what I need to buy again soon... Take care, keep the videos coming. Dan
Hi Dan, Thanks for the comments. Ah yes, I agree, good lateral thinking. It would also mean I wouldn't need to remove the handbrake, one less thing to worry about! First time for me owning a twin axle, still getting used to it :-) Graham
Hi Graham, Thats good to hear, you can answer the question that most of us single axle owners want to know : Have you noticed any difference between the single / twin axle. i.e is it better for Towing, whats it like manoeuvring it onto the pitch etc. a good pro's / con's list would be excellent. Take care, Dan
Hi Dan, I've not had time to do a vlog on the subject yet, although I'd like to when time permits. I have put something on my blog though detailing my likes etc www.caravanvlogger.co.uk/single-axle-or-twin-axle-caravan/ All the best, Graham
My wife has just said to me she would have thought twice about buying a twin axle Caravan had she known the palaver you get in fitting the second wheel lock My answer to that is lock n level But the lock n level is unsightly if on a level pitch So this bring you back to a jack for the second wheel lock Thank you to Caravan Gossip for the introduction Gevin & Liz Knaus Starclass 690
Thanks for watching. They are in the chassis already on every caravan I’ve had. Never bought a lock myself, always came with the caravan. East to check though, just look through the wheel spokes you’ll see it if it’s there, sometimes has a yellow cap on it to prevent dust etc

Good video. Don't have these locks but when we possibly upgrade our van next year these are on the list of things to buy. Thank you for this.

Our first Caravan was a Knaus Sudwind which we bought in Germany. Not as nice as the Star Class though. One of my fav Caravans at NEC this year...
when jacking the wheel always have the car connected to the hitch before you start lifting
The part that receives the bolt, is that in with the kit, and if so how do you fit it.

Exactly, that’s the one we have, if it ain’t broke, don’t change it.
How do you fit the alko locks when you have a 4 wheel mover fitted
Thanks for watching. Good question and the reason I don’t use them anymore. Lock n level would help
@@CaravanVlogger have you done or doing a video on lock and level ?
We don’t have lock and level
