Hi Keith &Michelle, I use the Lock n Level in my single axle Swift Eccles and it is great. It only cost £90 (coz I bought it at the caravan exhibition). I found it more accurate levelling than ramps and I haven’t had to inflate it to 30psi. I like the idea of the wood underneath. Up to now I’ve used an old piece of linoleum. Will probably change now. Thanks for all the videos, keep them coming. Cheers. Kenny
Great to finally see somebody doing a video to show how to use ramps. Not that I have had to use them yet but I have always been wary of the caravan "dropping" off the end of the first ramp but your video reassures me it wont happen. We have four motor movers on out van, Elddis Avante but still have room for the jacking point so we can put both alko locks on. Thanks again for the video. I was contemplating on getting the lock and level but after this I am not going to bother. Take care and happy travels.
Hi guys, each system has its own merits, don’t be too dismissive of the lock+level in certain situations it’s a godsend, we have one and wouldn’t be without it, seems a bit of a faff at first but they really can be good after you’ve used it a few times, thanks for sharing.
Hi Keith and Michele superb informative video, I don’t have motor movers on my TA and I use ordinary ramps to level. I fit my Alko with the aid of a Kojak Jack and bracket. At £200 I’d been concerned about theft in the storage yard if I had to leave the lock and level under the wheels of my van. Thieves wouldn’t be too fussy in how they lifted the van to steal the L&V risking damage to van too. You’ve made the right choice in the low tech approach. Best wishes.
Great video and demo Keith , and big thumbs up to Michele for camera work - nice n smooth and presumably without a steadicam! Always had my eye on Lock n Level - I’ve only got single axle Think tbh I would call it a Faff , apart from the weight I’d also considered the Milenco wheel jack leveller thingy but that looks hard work too Great honest no frills no angles video - appreciate you making it Kind regards HOWARD
No steadicam or gimbal used in the making of this video Howard, just a steady hand 😆 Many thanks for your lovely words, sending our best wishes to you both, Keith & Michele.
Great information for twin axle levelling. It took me ages to figure out that two small ramps is the way to go. Hopefully by now you have discovered that not only is towing a twin axle a dream but reversing on to the pitch is so much easier because the van no longer turns as fast and is easier to control.
Hi Barry, Unfortunately we’ve only been out once & that was when we collected our van. Planning to get away again very soon though. Many thanks for watching, best wishes, Keith & Michele.
With a single axle caravan on a loose surfaced pitch, whilst trying to climb a ramp, I have found the caravan pirouetting around the ramp and the none ramped wheel moving, instead of climbing the ramp. Because of this I bought a Milenco mechanical leveller. This leveller does have a poor ratcheting lever supplied with it however, so i dispensed with it and I bought a drill drive to a square socket drive and use a 15 mm socket with a battery powered portable drill and the drill drive, to raise and lower it. The drill drive to socket square drive ( set of 3 with different square drive sizes from screwfix is £3.60 and a spare 15mm socket is less than £2 from b&q ). With this system it is now simple, very controllable and very quick to raise and lower to level the caravan side to side. Much easier than a ramp and definitely easier and quicker than a lock n level but heavier than the ramps but I think it is worth it. I also use the drill with a steadies drill driver, so I already take the drill for this purpose anyway. With the Milenco leveller, i can now level the caravan side to side, with the caravan handbrake applied, along with the none lifted wheel chocked, on both sides of the wheel and obviously the motor mover disconnected and turned off, which is safer in my opinion.
Hi Keith and Michelle. We owned a twin axle for a while. Two things, we used the fiamma levelling Ramps and the best thing to do is to get the van in position and put them next to the wheels drive the van backwards and drive over both ramps at the same time. We very nearly bought the lock n level but we sold the van before we bought one. I highly recommend using TWO Alko locks at once as they can still drive your caravan away with just one on. You can just use some of the awning foam tiles. They work really well. They have been proven to work for long periods of time. Our friend had his van on a rocky seasonal pitch for a while year and it never lost pressure. If I was you I would be using the lock n level every time with two Alko locks. Our insurance required us to always have both of them on. But if a pain but saves the van being stolen. Hope that helps and if you have any questions just send me a message. Cheers, Oliver.
Hiya always good to learn about leveling the caravan cos can be bugger to sort out going away at end of the month can't wait cheers for the knowledge 👍
We had a lock and level for our single axle. It worked well for years but then one holiday it started deflating. I e had to quickly jack the caravan as we had the awning on and all the caravan weight was now on the corner steadies. Luckily we carried a ramp just in case so we slid that under. It turns out the seal had gone on the lock and level. It ended up on the bin as no matter what I tried the seal wouldn’t hold. I love the product but it was always in my mind as to whether it would stay up.
Think the principle of lock’n level is good but think it’s a bit of a faff particularly if you got to watch out for sharp stones and take a board as well. I’ll stick to my ramps and keep using a trolley jack for the Alko locks. Great well informed video.
Very interesting to read viewers comments and thoughts. Doing the vlog made the issue of levelling more interesting. We have bought all the gadgets and to be honest the answer is Each to their own. On a final note, I,m. Considering Robs Wise idea on the simple shovel method........ have you ****
Hi TotalTouring, You’re so right, it makes really interesting reading to hear all the different experiences & opinions. As you say, each to their own 👍🏻 Many thanks for watching, sending our best wishes, Keith & Michele.
Great video, thanks. I'd add a couple of points. 1) Inflation time from flat to maximum is just a couple of minutes with a decent pump plugged into your tow vehicle, and of course you don't always need to pump it up to maximum height. 2) If you only have the ramps you won't have the added bonus of using the L'n'L to change a flat. 3) We use a couple of cheap rubber mats from Lidl to go under the L'n'L on stony ground. When we go away for the winter using a couple of those ramps would be good for long term pitching. Thanks for the idea, I already have one (our previous caravan was a SA) so I only need to purchase one more. KH
Great video, after my first caravan trip trying to use ramps, the motor movers kept bashing when on the ramp, put me off and found really hard to level. Think I will purchase the lock and level, because our insurance states we have have the alko wheel locks on, this said it will be Much easier to do. Great video, I’ve learnt a lot recently watching your videos and others on how to make caravanning easier. Our first trip out was to Silverdale in torrential rain and storm winds, we really enjoyed so surely if we can endure that weather it will be easier 😂
Many thanks for sharing your experience James, we’re delighted you’ve found our videos helpful. Hope you get better weather on your next trip! Sending our best wishes to you, Keith & Michele.
Nice one Keith and Michel good subject about ramps I find that when u try to put the van up on a ramp using a motor mover and it a single axel it want round pull one side instead of going up strate so think lock and level would be better in the long run it just the cost of it but a better option good video guys .kev
Good video, I’ve used the lock n level for a couple of years now, even on so called” level pitches”. I found when I used ramps and as previously commented, to level the van and fit the Alko wheel lock is pretty much impossible and if your like me and the wife we use a lot of CL sites which are quieter and sometimes more secluded and you really want to be fitting all security, including the wheel lock and if you have ramps this is not going to happen, also more importantly, in the unfortunate event of having your caravan stolen from a site whatever the size you’ll also invalidate your insurance policy! Buy yourself a lock n level caravan owners, it’s worth the money and not the hassle.
Many thanks for all your advice North Lancs Scotsman 👍🏻 After reading everyone’s comments we’ve decided to persevere with it 😀 Thanks again & best wishes to you, Keith & Michele.
The problem I see with ramps even with a single axle is when fitting an Al Ko lock. To get the lock reciever between the wheel spokes you end up driving up or down the ramp putting the caravan out of level. We always book hardstanding pitches. I carry a small light weight hand shovel and heap the stones/gravels into a plateau to correct height, drive caravan on and align the reciever. Thanks for a very good demonstation Keith. Best Regards. Rob
hi, thank you for the info on the different levelers. if you put the legs down and then removed the bag could you change a wheel with the legs down. it was a pleasure talking to you at Polmanter touring park in July regards Tony and Karen, Colin and Elly
Hi Tony, Karen, Colin and Elly. It was lovely meeting you at Polmanter earlier this year. If the steadies are standard fit (not self levelling) then it is Not a good idea to use them to keep the caravan off the ground as most are fitted directly to the floor. This could warp or damage the floor! Hope this helps, Keith & Michele
Hi both Glad to see you are well and enjoying life again. I have just watched your video about lock and level and wondered if you would consider getting one for your new caravan and if not why not
Hi @AndrewWelsh-vu3qh we haven’t got one for our new van as it’s only a single axle and just so simple to level with a levelling ramp. Sending you our best wishes, Keith & Michele xxx
Hi to you both Re the lock n level , if you were to have a leak and the bag deflated that would put pressure on the corner steadies I assume. Personnally I would prefer something solid like the ramps and not use Al-ko wheel locks. Great content as always.
Great stuff Keith and Michelle. We bought a lock n level twin late last year and had it shipped to Australia, but sadly with COVID restrictions we haven’t been able to use it yet apart from a test at home. We don’t have motor movers so the LnL is the best solution for us. Tried the ramps but didn’t like them. Cheers Brian and Sue Carter.
we only have a single axle van , but no brained really. The one big plus for the air level device is if you have the Akko through the wheel lock. You can get the lock on & the level. We invested in the EP hydraulic system. Best move ever, just press the button & wait- sorted👍
That was very interesting. I have often thought about the inflatable one’s and have been looking out for then when on site to ask what they think of them BUT I have never come across anyone with them. I know now what I’m sticking with. Well done Regards D.Bowie.
Great video, thank you! We recently made the jump to a twin axle and have and motor movers like you. I’ve got ramps but think I may need the lock and level as well, mainly to line up the Alko but also to change a tyre. I’m also not convinced moving forward the amount needed to use the ramp systems is always possible due to pitch size. I would rather avoid lock and level due to the cost but might have to bite the bullet. Thanks again for a great video!
Many thanks for watching Russell, delighted you enjoyed our video. We’ve decided to keep our locknlevel to try it out a bit more. Sending our best wishes, Keith & Michele.
We have the lock and level for our single axle caravan. You just position the caravan where you want it, in a suitable position so you can get the Alko lock in place, shuffle the caravan, slide the L&L in, bring the caravan back, fit the Alko lock and then inflate and level. The point is being able to secure the caravan when at a site. This could be an insurance issue if you don't fit the Alko lock and the caravan goes missing from site. When we stay onsite at steam fairs, you lock everything there, not the same as a fully serviced club pitch.
The one big advantage with Lock'n'Level is if you are fitting your Alco locks, very difficult with a ramp very hard to stop on the ramp with both the caravan level and the lock lining up. But with the Lock'n'Level it's easy roll onto bag line up Alco lock pump up done
May I ask any of the lock n level users, is it recommended to use the one bag on twin axle to remove the other wheel? To repair a puncture for example ? And if so can you change either wheel ? Thanks
Hi kitty and michele I don't use levellers but have seen ones that join together at the top for a twin axle as you drive it up from the back and straight over the top can't remember who makes then but will see if I can find a link
It states on our insurance that both wheel locks need to be fitted when on site or in storage. We all know how precise you have to be fitting Al-Ko locks. So do you pick up one wheel ( like having a puncture ) rotate wheel, fit lock, then deflate and fit the other before final levelling. ?
Hi Michele and Keith, I absolutely love the Lock n Level leveller. It’s so expensive at the moment. We are currently using the Milenco Triple level set. The lock n lever is something we are going to purchase in the future. Good vlog. 👍👍
Hi Keith & Michelle nice to see you both again We bought the lock & level combo pack haven't used it yet so nice seeing someone use it We are hoping to use our caravan for 1sr time soon and going to enjoy opening. Everything that we bought for caravan Husband says he unboxing new TV which we have had a year We tried out the Tom Tom go camper for first time Sunday as if we had caravan on it was so easy to use We have had shock absorbers fitted to our twin wheeler as ours is 26ft presume yours is around that just wondering if your come fitted with the alko shock absorbers as standard
Hi Tina, Such an exciting time for you 😀 Wishing you a great first trip away 😎 TBH don’t know the answer re shock absorbers, will have to take a look! Best wishes to you both, safe travels, Keith & Michele x
Whole point of Lock n Level is to make it easy to level the caravan and fit the Al-ko chassis lock. I think this is almost impossible if you use ramps.
Lock and level , and SavvyLevel for me all the way, with Savvylevel you can see which side if any as soon as you arrive before you get out the car works well next best thing to self leveling
Hello Keith, great video and still valid to this day. We have a twin axle and just purchased the LockNLevel, do you recommend keeping the motor movers engaged while you’re inflating the first bag, or should you chock the opposite side and disengage the movers, then inflate? Or does it really matter, which would you prefer 😊
Hi @lee-zg3gx. We kept the motor mover engaged whilst inflating then chocked the opposite site after applying the handbrake. Hope this helps, Keith & Michele xx
If you only have the ramps is it impossible to fit both the alko locks. Im sure some insurance companies insist that both have to be fitted. Like you we are getting a twin axle with quad moovers so jacking is not an option?
Hi Henry, We have two different locks for each set of wheels. In our opinion it’s too difficult to align both sides to fit the Alko to each one. Fortunately, our insurance company are happy with the locks we’re using. Hope this helps, sending our best wishes to you, Keith & Michele.
K & M,, (presume Michele was doing the filming !! ) great vid as always and good job explaining about using it not only to level the caravan but jacking and fitting wheel locks as well. Maybe an explanation that there is also a single axle model available, (which I have had for about 18 months now and the piece of wood) for us non "POSH GYPSIES" who dont have twin axle caravans could have been an addition ? Nick T.
Many thanks for watching Nick, apologies for the single exclusion 😉 We’re not posh, just excited to have a new caravan 😀 Sending our best wishes to you both, Keith & Michele.
Way back when i was young we used to go in the caravan to club rallies, never had any of these things mostly pieces of 4x2 timbers in differing lengths cut to an angle never seemed as much fuss tbh.nice caravan btw
Just to add to this, I use 6x1 treated timber cut longer than needed then build up with then as needed to level, I carry 6 pieces max I've ever needed is 4, again cut a bevel at one end to drive caravan onto them, only ever had twin axle.
Hi Keith & Michelle, my van although a different model, 635 has the same 4 wheel motor mover system fitted and in order to fit it I am informed that they had to remove the jacking points. Can you advise me what type of jack you use and where you position it in order to fit the second al-co wheel lock? Kind regards John
Hi John, The simplest way to jack up a twin axle caravan, raising only one wheel, is by using the lock n level system. Although in our video we implied we would be selling our lock n level, we have in fact kept it in case we need to jack one wheel up in case of a puncture. The only other option that we know of is to use a trolley jack. One downside to the lock n level is that if you are using it to align the wheel for the Alko chassis lock, the system has to remain in situ until your next trip out. Hope this helps, best wishes, Keith & Michele.
Hi John, The lock n level system for twin axle caravans is a two section system. The two halves can be inflated independently of each other. Position the caravan on the lock n level & align the rear wheel with the Alko chassis bolt & put the lock on. Then blow up the rear section only of the lock n level. This will raise the van sufficiently for the front wheel to be off the ground allowing you to rotate it & align the front chassis lock. When both locks are on you simply let down the lock n level, leaving it in place. Using a bottle jack would be very tricky as you have to jack the caravan up on the axle as close as possible to the wheel. You will find very little clearance to raise the jack. Hope this helps to clarify it for you. Keith & Michele.
Hi Keith, I recently tried to level the caravan using the ramps( twin axle).. found 1 issue if you have any input would be great.... Levelled the van using the mover and ramps to a position I was happy with ( level)... I then applied the handbrake on the van. Then I took the mover off the wheels, the van rolled backwards a good way then caught. In the demonstration you didn't mention if you left the mover in position? Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you
Hi Darren, When reversing a caravan, the brakes have an auto engage/disengage system. This allows the wheels to roll backwards without applying the brakes when reversing . To engage the breaking system after reversing, you just need to roll the caravan forward a few inches. From what you say, we can only assume that you reversed using the motormover to position your caravan on the ramp, it is therefore our recommendation that you manoeuvre the caravan forward up the ramps, this will then ensure that the handbrake will be at its optimum efficiency. It’s also vitally important when your caravan has reached its correct position to chock the wheels for added stability/safety. Hope this helps, sending our best wishes to you, Keith & Michele.
@@keithandmichele many thanks for the reply Keith.. no I did infact drive straight up the ramp as in your demo (forward).. 1 thing I didn't do was choc the wheels what so ever. Maybe this was my problem? I was expecting the handbrake to hold the caravan in position. This could be the next move I attempt.. I have a service booked for mid September so will also ask about the handbrake also.. many thanks
Hello Keith and Michelle The air bag system looks good but it doesn’t look like it lifts the caravan up very high. We find the yellow ramps commonly sold are sometimes barely high enough to correct the slope of the site .....thinking of milenco bridge and quad set which seems to give higher and gentle incline BUT it’s what to do about fitting the alko locks once levelled on the ramp.....trolly Jack but the MM is engaged or of not handbrake is on so can’t spin wheels if jacked up perhaps hold three caravan on wheel chocks but that might be tricky to hold the weight bearing in mind the caravan is detached from the car to deploy the MM to get it up the ramp? Just trying to work out the logic around levelling and subsequent alko lock fitting to the twin on site or in event of puncture Any thoughts on how u are getting on We have just reserved our 2020 645 which we had dithered over getting for at least 18 months 🤣
Hi S H, Huge congratulations on your new 645 🎉🥂🍾 You won’t be disappointed, we absolutely love ours! We’ve only used the levelling ramps twice since filming this video (haven’t been out much!) They worked fine on both occasions. The Lock n Level will raise the caravan higher but haven’t had the need to use it yet. In the event of a puncture, because we have motor movers fitted, we would use the Lock n Level system. Hope this helps, sending our best wishes, Keith & Michele.
I have to ask what if the caravan is leaning the other way when you have put the locks on how would you remove the lock and level to put under the other side . I only see people levelling the near side . Or will the caravan have the same holes on the off side ? Sorry for asking new to this 😅
What a superb question. Firstly, the Al-Ko secure locking receiver(s) are only fitted to the near side of the Caravan. Assuming you have to raise the offside, you would have to use additional lock(s) on the raised side. Hope this helps, sending our best wishes, Keith & Michele
I found the answers out you have to use the lock and level twin to put the locks on then deflate it and get this buy another one for the other side it’s called a combo kit well if there has not been enough money bleeding out my pocket lol😂
Hi Happy Panda, You’ll need a minimum 10m length food grade hose & connectors (like Hozelock) to connect the hose to the water tap on your pitch bollard. Not a necessity but useful to have is a 4m flexible waste pipe. Again, not essential but if you’re thinking of using serviced pitches more frequently, you may wish to invest in an aquaroll float valve. With this you can connect your hose & the aquaroll will automatically replenish with water. Hope this helps, best wishes, Keith & Michele.
Hi Keith, Once the caravan is level you can release the air in the rear airbag to enable you to turn the wheel & fit the lock. Hope this helps, Keith & Michele.
Hi Keith and Michelle, enjoyed the demo can I ask what size engine does it take to tow a twin axle caravan they weigh heavier and look longer in length 🤔
Hi Liz, This is a difficult one for us to answer. Depending on the mtplm (weight of your caravan) we would strongly recommend 2L or over. Can we point you in the direction of www.towcar.info where you can match your car (or car your thinking of buying) with your caravan. Another factor to consider is towball limit permissible on the car. The above website will also give you this information. Hope this helps, sending best wishes, Keith & Michele.
Carefree Caravanning Hi thank you for your reply we have a Kuga ST Line 2.0L and a swift challenger sport 584 which has a mtplm of 1500 I was just wondering I will look up the information you have sent me kind regards Liz
If anyone has the budget I’d 100% recommend the e&p hydraulic levelling system, at £3k it isn’t cheap but I can guarantee once you’ve had it you will never want another caravan without it, if I didn’t have it though I’d likely go for the lock n level as we have to have both alko locks fitted for insurance.
Hello Keith & Michelle. I have a twin axle and was looking at the options of how to level in an ideal way. I have the large levellers but am looking for a lock and level as I feel this to be the best option. Where did you purchase yours? All the best Jamie
Hi Jamie, Having read the numerous comments in favour of the lock n level, we’re going to trial it a few more times before we decide which option is best for us. Sending our best wishes, Keith & Michele.
If you need to level up the off side with L&L how can you fit the locks x2 on the other side? We sold ours eBay, went back to lumps of wood. Sea sick also a problem. Nice video though, keep going,. Thanks
Hi Andrew, The Maypole ramps we used in this video can carry up to 2000 kg (2t). Bearing in mind you will normally only be lifting one side, in your case the load weight would only be 850kg, so well within the limit. Hope this helps, Keith & Michele.
That's Great 👍, got our first family van this weekend and have been glued to your channel all of last week, you make things sound so simple and give me confidence we can make our van experience simple and enjoyable 😊
Hi Andrew, Wishing you a fantastic first trip away 👍🏻 Delighted we’ve been able to help, any problems or queries when your away, feel free to email us & we’ll be happy to help info@carefreecaravanning.co.uk Best wishes, Keith & Michele.
Great video Keith and Michele. 🙂🙂🙂 It is very interesting to watch the difference between caravans and MH/camper vans. The 1st type are used by motorhomes hence the need for 2 ramps for front back levelling for front or rear wheels. We never use them with our A class as we just move so that the spirit level says we are level. 🙂🙂🙂
Great demonstration, just a thought, why can't you just raise one axle to level the caravan? I also am a recent convert to a twin axle and I agree a much better towing experience. Reversing is so much easier. Keep up the good work. .... I will be purchasing some ramps.
Hi, It’s not advisable to raise the caravan using one axle only as this would put too much stress on the other axle. Thanks for watching, Keith & Michele.
Hi Keith and Michelle. The ramp system looks good. How would you fit wheel locks? Our lock has a clamp that fits around the wheel as an option to the chassis lock. Pete & Kaz. 😀👍😀👍😀👍
Carefree Caravanning that would be a great option for us something we didn’t think about. Will check our insurance see If this would be ok. Would make life a lot easier thanks
Hi Keith/Michele I don't know how much you paid for your van but I know how much they are so auto leveller should be well within your budget trust me push a button in under a Minute level nice and easy Look how long it took you and what you needed to do 😀
So with the Milenco bridge Michael is it a case of get the twin on the ramps and level , then get trolly Jack under axel to spin the wheels to fit both alko wheel locks and return to the ramp position? If on motor mover can’t spin wheels if both engaged to hold caravan in place , can’t deploy the hand brake as that too prevents wheel rotation, to use motor mover already detached from car So is the only option left to chock the wheels on side not on ramps before jacking to get locks on ? All sounds a bit tricky we are about to go from single to twin axel and just trying to work the logic out ? Like the Quattro system as the quad gives more height than our yellow ramps used on our single axel but even with them some sights the side to side slope was more than the yellow ramp could handle ie not tall enough hence interest in Quattro and the jacking questions Any thoughts ......anyone ??🤷♂️
Delighted you found our video helpful Kenny, Many thanks for watching, best wishes, Keith & Michele.
Absolutely brilliant. Great demonstration of both and love your honesty Keith, fantastic camera work Michelle.x
Many thanks for your lovely words Elaine, greatly appreciated 👍🏻 Sending our best wishes to you, Keith & Michele.
Thanks Keith..another great informative video..so glad I found your channel...

Hi Col, Many thanks for the info. It’s great to hear other people’s experiences 👍🏻 Sending our best wishes, Keith & Michele.
Not sure why you need to use locknlevel in storage?
great blog guys ramps all the way
Many thanks Debbie, we agree with you 👍🏻 Sending our best wishes, Keith & Michele.
Great video and demo Keith , and big thumbs up to Michele for camera work - nice n smooth and presumably without a steadicam!
Always had my eye on Lock n Level - I’ve only got single axle
Think tbh I would call it a Faff , apart from the weight
I’d also considered the Milenco wheel jack leveller thingy but that looks hard work too
Great honest no frills no angles video - appreciate you making it
Kind regards
HOWARD
Hi Oliver, huge thanks for all your advice, greatly appreciated 👍🏻 Sending our best wishes to you all, Keith & Michele.
Thank you for this great information this has answered a question we had
You’re welcome Ajz, delighted you found our video helpful 👍🏻 Thanks for watching, Keith & Michele.
Hiya always good to learn about leveling the caravan cos can be bugger to sort out going away at end of the month can't wait cheers for the knowledge 👍
Hi Mark, Thanks for watching, have a great trip 👍🏻 Best wishes, Keith & Michele.
Hi @ashneedham. Sounds like a nightmare. Sending you our best wishes, Keith & Michele xxx
Think the principle of lock’n level is good but think it’s a bit of a faff particularly if you got to watch out for sharp stones and take a board as well. I’ll stick to my ramps and keep using a trolley jack for the Alko locks. Great well informed video.
Many thanks for your kind words Ian, great to hear your preference 👍🏻 Best wishes, Keith & Michele.
Rubber mat is just as effective and easily stored
Very interesting to read viewers comments and thoughts. Doing the vlog made the issue of levelling more interesting. We have bought all the gadgets and to be honest the answer is
Each to their own.
KH
Many thanks for the additional information Keith 👍🏻 Sending best wishes, Keith & Michele.
Hello Keith & Michele, Brian gives the 👍 in the first levelling items. I don’t get involved.lol take care guys.👍🐶🐾😀
Many thanks Guys 👍🏻Pink jobs, blue jobs 😆 Best wishes to you, Keith & Michele.
Nice one Keith and Michel good subject about ramps I find that when u try to put the van up on a ramp using a motor mover and it a single axel it want round pull one side instead of going up strate so think lock and level would be better in the long run it just the cost of it but a better option good video guys .kev
Many thanks for watching Kev, we experienced that problem as well 🙄 Best wishes to you, Keith & Michele.
I find the lock and level makes the locator for the alko lock to line up easier and also use a cheap rubber door mat for stone protection.
Thanks for the advice Les 👍🏻 Great tip, thanks for watching, Keith & Michele.
Rob
Great to hear your method Rob 👍🏻 Many thanks for the info, best wishes, Keith & Michele.
hi, thank you for the info on the different levelers. if you put the legs down and then removed the bag could you change a wheel with the legs down.
it was a pleasure talking to you at Polmanter touring park in July
regards
Tony and Karen, Colin and Elly
Hi to you both
Re the lock n level , if you were to have a leak and the bag deflated that would put pressure on the corner steadies I assume.
Personnally I would prefer something solid like the ramps and not use Al-ko wheel locks. Great content as always.
Hi Mailbox 101. Personally we never used the lock n level, always used ramps. Many thanks for watching, Keith & Michele
Another great vlog, hope your both keeping well
Many thanks Bren & Jules, all well, thank you. Sending our best wishes to you both, Keith & Michele.
Hi Brian & Sue, Many thanks for watching, hope you manage to get away soon, safe travels & best wishes, Keith & Michele.
we only have a single axle van , but no brained really. The one big plus for the air level device is if you have the Akko through the wheel lock. You can get the lock on & the level. We invested in the EP hydraulic system. Best move ever, just press the button & wait- sorted👍
Hi Nick, thanks for sharing your experience, great to hear different experiences 👍🏻 Keith & Michele.
i found this video useful thank you
Hi @6gengineering Many thanks for watching ❤️ We’re delighted you found our video helpful 🤗 Sending our best wishes to you, Keith & Michele xxx
That was very interesting. I have often thought about the inflatable one’s and have been looking out for then when on site to ask what they think of them BUT I have never come across anyone with them. I know now what I’m sticking with. Well done
Regards
D.Bowie.
Hi David, That’s very true, we haven’t seen anyone on site with them with 🤔 Many thanks for watching, sending our best wishes, Keith & Michele.
Hi guys, good informative video on levelling choices! Let’s hear it for level sites though hey?... 😉 🤷🏼♂️ 😂
Stay safe you two... 👍🏻 😉
Oh, wouldn’t that be wonderful Rog 😀 Completely level sites 🤩 Thanks for watching, sending our best wishes to you both, Keith & Michele.
Many thanks Vince, Great to hear your experience 👍🏻 Best wishes, Keith & Michele.
The one big advantage with Lock'n'Level is if you are fitting your Alco locks, very difficult with a ramp very hard to stop on the ramp with both the caravan level and the lock lining up. But with the Lock'n'Level it's easy roll onto bag line up Alco lock pump up done
Great advice Mark, thanks for watching, Keith & Michele.
May I ask any of the lock n level users, is it recommended to use the one bag on twin axle to remove the other wheel? To repair a puncture for example ? And if so can you change either wheel ? Thanks
Great video thanks. Would like to see a slightly longer base board.
Many thanks for watching Trevor, good point. Sending our best wishes to you, Keith & Michele.
Hi kitty and michele I don't use levellers but have seen ones that join together at the top for a twin axle as you drive it up from the back and straight over the top can't remember who makes then but will see if I can find a link
Many thanks for the information Michael, think that might be the Milenco Quattro Bridge. Best wishes, Keith & Michele.
It states on our insurance that both wheel locks need to be fitted when on site or in storage. We all know how precise you have to be fitting Al-Ko locks. So do you pick up one wheel ( like having a puncture ) rotate wheel, fit lock, then deflate and fit the other before final levelling. ?
Thanks for sharing @robinamey4781. Sending you our best wishes, Keith & Michele xxx
The Froli ramps are rated at 8 tons. They are sold in pairs as they are also used for campervan and motorhome front wheels.
Thanks for sharing Irish Rover. Sending our best wishes, Keith & Michele
Hi Michele and Keith,
I absolutely love the Lock n Level leveller.
It’s so expensive at the moment. We are currently using the Milenco Triple level set.
The lock n lever is something we are going to purchase in the future. Good vlog. 👍👍
Many thanks Adventure Caravanners, sending best wishes, Keith & Michele.
Hi Keith & Michelle nice to see you both again
We bought the lock & level combo pack haven't used it yet so nice seeing someone use it
We are hoping to use our caravan for 1sr time soon and going to enjoy opening. Everything that we bought for caravan
Husband says he unboxing new TV which we have had a year
We tried out the Tom Tom go camper for first time Sunday as if we had caravan on it was so easy to use
We have had shock absorbers fitted to our twin wheeler as ours is 26ft presume yours is around that just wondering if your come fitted with the alko shock absorbers as standard
Many thanks for watching Paul, Keith & Michele.
Lock and level , and SavvyLevel for me all the way, with Savvylevel you can see which side if any as soon as you arrive before you get out the car works well next best thing to self leveling
Love your way of thinking Colin 👍🏻 Thanks for watching, best wishes, Keith & Michele.
I would think that driving the wheels over the top of the ramps is going to weaken the structure of the tyre.
Nice video Keith and Michelle. Out of interest which wheel locks are you using?
Many thanks Andrew, we use Alko chassis lock & Nemesis Ultra. Thanks for watching, Keith & Michele.
Hi again sorry, what size of board or rubber do you recommend to place the LockNLevel onto?
Hi @Lee-zg3gx It should be the same size as the LocknLevel. Hope this helps, Sending our best wishes to you, Keith & Michele x
How do manage if the blocks used don't lift the caravan higher and say you want another 100 mm
Hi Brian, You can get higher ramps or alternatively use a lock n level system. Hope this helps, Keith & Michele.
Way back when i was young we used to go in the caravan to club rallies, never had any of these things mostly pieces of 4x2 timbers in differing lengths cut to an angle never seemed as much fuss tbh.nice caravan btw
Happy Days Thomas 👍🏻 Thanks for watching, best wishes to you, Keith & Michele.
@@keithandmichele thank you for clarification, really helpful.
I have a service booked for mid September so will also ask about the handbrake also.. many thanks
Hello Keith and Michelle
The air bag system looks good but it doesn’t look like it lifts the caravan up very high.
Just trying to work out the logic around levelling and subsequent alko lock fitting to the twin on site or in event of puncture
Any thoughts on how u are getting on
We have just reserved our 2020 645 which we had dithered over getting for at least 18 months 🤣
Think we'd get another lock like the nemesis for the opposite side.
Just booked a serviced pitch for the first time. Any advice?
Hi Happy Panda, You’ll need a minimum 10m length food grade hose & connectors (like Hozelock) to connect the hose to the water tap on your pitch bollard. Not a necessity but useful to have is a 4m flexible waste pipe. Again, not essential but if you’re thinking of using serviced pitches more frequently, you may wish to invest in an aquaroll float valve. With this you can connect your hose & the aquaroll will automatically replenish with water. Hope this helps, best wishes, Keith & Michele.
I’m taking it the lock n Levels are now sold ?
Hi @webrappin3314 Yes, it’s sold now, best wishes to you, Keith & Michele.
When you have levelled your caravan how do you fit your alco wheel lock ?
Hi Keith, Once the caravan is level you can release the air in the rear airbag to enable you to turn the wheel & fit the lock. Hope this helps, Keith & Michele.
Hi I have a Milenco aluminium leveller so you can put your alco wheel lock on before you start your levelling 😄 simple!!
You also dont want your sweetie jar rolling off table lol.xxx
Now that would be a travesty Gill 😂😆🤣 Thanks for watching, Great to hear from you, sending our best wishes, Keith & Michele x
Hi Guys, thanks for your recommendation, too steep for us though! Thanks for watching, sending best wishes, Keith & Michele.
Hello Keith & Michelle. I have a twin axle and was looking at the options of how to level in an ideal way. I have the large levellers but am looking for a lock and level as I feel this to be the best option. Where did you purchase yours?
All the best
Jamie
Are you looking for a buyer for yours
Hi Jamie, We purchased it from locknlevel.co.uk £199.95 Thanks for watching, best wishes to you, Keith & Michele.
Thanks
You need the combo pack. Twin lock n level on the lowest side and single on opposite side.
Hi Stephen, As Andrew has commented, apparently you can purchase a combo pack 🤔 Thanks for watching, best wishes, Keith & Michele.
Many thanks for this info Andrew, didn’t know about this so helpful to know 👍🏻 Best wishes, Keith & Michele.
I have a 6 birth twin axle van up to 1700kgs, will the maypole set be durable enough and take the weight?
Many thanks 😊😊
I purchased the maypole ramps after watching your video, like I said you made it seem simple and less daunting 😁
Many thanks for watching Faith, great to hear your experience. Best wishes, Keith & Michele.
Hi Keith what make are the ramps and where from please ?
Hi Mark, The ramps used in this video are Maypole MP4601 twin pack. The Amazon link is amzn.to/2AvXBJI Hope this helps, Keith & Michele.
Thank you
Great demonstration, just a thought, why can't you just raise one axle to level the caravan? I also am a recent convert to a twin axle and I agree a much better towing experience. Reversing is so much easier.
Keep up the good work. .... I will be purchasing some ramps.
Hi, It’s not advisable to raise the caravan using one axle only as this would put too much stress on the other axle. Thanks for watching, Keith & Michele.
Hi Keith and Michelle. The ramp system looks good. How would you fit wheel locks? Our lock has a clamp that fits around the wheel as an option to the chassis lock. Pete & Kaz. 😀👍😀👍😀👍
Hi Pete & Kaz, we use Alko on the near side & Nemesis Ultra on the off side. Many thanks for watching, best wishes to you both, Keith & Michele.
Hello. How does the Sorrento tow it, are you happy with the car?
Hi Dan, Haven’t had the chance to tow yet but hopefully very soon 😀 Absolutely delighted with the car 👍🏻 Best wishes to you, Keith & Michele.
How do you get both Akko locks on do you use a trolly jack ?
Hi Diane, We currently use one Alko chassis lock & a Nemesis Ultra on the opposite side. Thanks for watching, sending best wishes, Keith & Michele.
Carefree Caravanning that would be a great option for us something we didn’t think about. Will check our insurance see If this would be ok. Would make life a lot easier thanks
Lock and level
Why not fit a self leveller best thing I ever done
Far too costly for us Maggie 😀 Thanks for watching, best wishes, Keith & Michele.
I could think of £2000+ reasons!
Hi Keith/Michele
I don't know how much you paid for your van but I know how much they are so auto leveller should be well within your budget trust me push a button in under a Minute level nice and easy
Look how long it took you and what you needed to do 😀
I got both lol
Thanks for watching John 👍🏻 Best wishes, Keith & Michele.
Milenco Quattro Bridge for Twin Axle Caravans
This is the name of the other levelers on amazon
So with the Milenco bridge Michael is it a case of get the twin on the ramps and level , then get trolly Jack under axel to spin the wheels to fit both alko wheel locks and return to the ramp position?
If on motor mover can’t spin wheels if both engaged to hold caravan in place , can’t deploy the hand brake as that too prevents wheel rotation, to use motor mover already detached from car So is the only option left to chock the wheels on side not on ramps before jacking to get locks on ?
All sounds a bit tricky we are about to go from single to twin axel and just trying to work the logic out ?
Like the Quattro system as the quad gives more height than our yellow ramps used on our single axel but even with them some sights the side to side slope was more than the yellow ramp could handle ie not tall enough hence interest in Quattro and the jacking questions
Any thoughts ......anyone ??🤷♂️
What a faff that Lock n Level nonsense is, 10x the cost, 8x the weight, plus relying on a battery, nah
