Great video it would be nice to see the Jack in action just got a swift caravan and never had a jacking system before , always used scissor, Jack or bottle Jack .
Really useful video, prepping for a driving holiday to France, we have the brackets already fitted and getting my head around how the jack fits into it before we go as well as checking the spare tyre etc.
I agree these are a bas.... to fit but much easier with the correct tools. I managed to fit both sides in 20 minutes while on holiday in the Lake District. I use a Ko-Jack hydraulic scissor jack and I would recommend everyone to fit these jacking plates 👍
Great video, had to do the same job myself, as you say, it's quite fiddly, you need to have a socket on the nut, but you also need to have a spanner on the bolt, or it will just spin round, I also bought caravan new, it had no jack, no jacking points, no leisure battery, when you pay £20,000 for a car you get a battery, a jack, and jacking points!.
I know what you mean I understand they are trying to keep costs down but Health and safety must play a part In Germany you must have yellow vest warning triangle etc in France a Breathaliser... surely a jack must be a standard but if kit even if the cost must go up I would have bought one if I had of even known
I have just fitted 2 brackets to my new caravan which is on the driveway at the side of our house, a bit restricted for room, got the NEW jack for £33+ postage, of someone on 'ebay', ( plenty for sale in new condition), and sent to Alko for new brackets and bolts, total cost - every thing new - £90. I used a 19mm ring spanner and a torque wrench ( cost me £20 but will now do for my car and caravan, glad I bought it ), put the porch awning carpet down on the floor, job was done in less than 1/2 hr., worth doing, I now have complete peace of mind, but still hope I don`t get a puncture.
Just a thought. Since you showed how to remove the spare wheel, it should have been easier to fit the jacking brackets while the spare wheel carrier was off, no?
Both bolt heads should be on the outside of the chassis member as per Alko instructions to take any strain . Isn't top bolt wrong way around be on the inside ??? Washers not fitted under bolt head as per instructions
CARAVAN AND MOTORHOME ADVENTURES Hi Yeah my idea was with the long bolt if you fit the spacer that comes with the kit. You would not have to screw the nut on as far.
@@gavin123459 Pretty Poor Video. No preparation so spent most of the time looking at the chassis. Did not veven show the end result of the jack being used.
If you need more room to work why not raise the caravan on a levelling block, or the Melenco aluminium levelling frame. Then support for safety with the corner steadies. Then use a molegrip spanner on the back nut so it does not keep coming off.
Cheers Brian for feed back... haha For the same reason as I did not just lift it with a car ramp or drive it over a mechanics pit... I happens when you least expect it to and was stranded on the way to going on holiday An had no idea the caravan was missing a jack as it was brand new

Can't believe you didn't show us how the jack fits the bracket

Good to be prepared...
Better than doing it on the road side after finding you have a puncher
Try a flat half way over the Severn bridge! Not fun. Alko Jack seems best, bought one straight after. Cheers for vid
Great video we’re going to be fitting one to our on the next outing
Great Video. Did you have to place the bolts in opposite directions?

Hi Pam I know what you mean as it was it was not in the way if it was I would have soon moved it out the thanks for comments please subscribe Chris
Great tutorial.... Think we need to check we have one
I don't understand why these are not fitted when the caravans are built !
Money saving I guess...
@@Cashclever Don't you mean money making?
Spot on, it would cost them peanuts and create a sales 'add on' of a jack ( for those sensible enough to buy one )
I’ve got a German Eriba and it dosent have a jack..

You said it comes with a spacer for different chassis’s. So why not fit the spacer to the long bolt? Would make it a lot easier. Just an idea.
It’s not hard just fiddler... would be easy on a ramp with the correct tools

This is not suitable if the Mover is behind the axle

I hope you weren't late for your overacting class?? 🤣
