    Dr. Saunders in his operating room doing magnificent surgical procedures on his FB. Fascinating trunk. Surgery done, infestation cured, and the tree looks cool.

    Mr. Saunders,
    I have a question which you may want to address in future videos. At what point do you consider a Bonsai refined enough in terms of nebari, ramification, leaf size, age, pot selection, and overall development to be considered a show worthy tree? I understand that a Bonsai tree is never considered a finished completed project, but which of your various other Bonsai do you consider in a category similar to your Serissa? It would be helpful to know each of your trees stage of progression in this process as you continue to work on them. Thanks for great content and interesting topics!

    I enjoy your videos every time you upload them. I can learn much about pruning bonsai. It will be better If you include before and after view of a tree you prune. Thanks a lot

    Idea💡• As a regular viewer, I’d like to firstly thank you Nigel!! Always enjoy your videos! While watching today’s #FicusFriday… I lost which side is the current front. I know you typically tell us which is the front. However, I was wondering if a marker that could be something temporary, fun & easy to see on camera might be placed to mark the front view prior to starting the video? Maybe something from your 3-D printer possibly? As you spin the tree… the viewer would always have a sense of where the from is. Just a thought… thanks & look’in good!! 🌱

    My favorite of Nigel's tropical trees, his medium leaf Benjaminas. Still hunting around for one to buy online close in habit to this one. I have a "too little" but it barely grows.

    • @jaybolinger2865
      @jaybolinger2865 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I also have a too little variety. It needs a structure pruning I think. All the leaves were growing at the tips of the branches until I pinched it back in early spring. Finally it's starting to become a Fuller tree. Still needs a lot of work though

      I find both variations growth habitats to be the same, when I wire them they scar at the same rate, I just counted the leaves on the new growth from the last pruning, they're both at 7 leaves on the new growth, are you growing them in a bonsai pot?

    • @Kjbrunzo
      @Kjbrunzo 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@capnspicy5565 My 'too little' is in an appropriately sized terracotta pot currently, Its only the thickness of a pencil and was hoping to thicken it first instead of putting a stick into a bonsai pot. Bought it last September I've had it outside for over a month in good sun/humidity and it only just now started to grow some new leaves, but sparingly. I make sure not to over water.
      Do you have the same variety as Nigel in this video?

    • @jaybolinger2865
      @jaybolinger2865 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mine is in a training pot. I'm hoping to thicken the trunk a bit before I put it in a bonsai pot as well as growing as many Arial roots as I can

    • @capnspicy5565
      @capnspicy5565 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Kjbrunzo Oh, it's a young nursery cutting? Might just need time to develop stronger roots, I wire my cuttings and root/grow them out in 5gal buckets in a humidity tent for at least a year, (except during their dryer winter rest) but no trimming, just let the shoots run long to thicken the trunk, and yes, I have 1 like Nigel's now, sold the rest, but the too little is my favorite, I have 2 large ones, 10 mame and 4 shito sized, and a ton of cuttings, I'm going to make a few shohin sized ones next year from some 2019 cuttings.
