Came back to say this worked! I did have to go through the A/C control reset process after install though. I disconnected the battery for about 10 minutes, turned the key but didn’t crank the truck. Waited 1 minute and the screen tells you to roll down and up the driver window. After that start the truck and wait 5-7 minutes and it will cycle through the vents. I waited another minute or two after it stoped cycling and now my controls work flawlessly. Thanks again 👍🏼

Interesting I didn’t have to do that with mine. Glad it worked

Thanks brother ,I got a 2014 silverado that was blowing warm air on the driver side an cold on the passenger, this fixed my problem 💪. Now both sides are cold 🥶 it was very tight at least for me but it's possible.
    Thanks again

Oh that’s exactly what my truck is doing! I’m ordering the actuator then!

So I just had this problem after a dead battery, reset it and it worked but died again the next weekend. Reset the system but no go. Your video was awesome, but the replacement didn’t fix it, the old one wasn’t bad. My problem was the door itself was all gritty, I spun it carefully with a screwdriver a few times and worked the grit out of it, plugged it back in and it was good. Note, when you replug in the fuses the motor cycles and finds the top and bottom of its range, no need for all the weird key on and off stuff the other videos recommend. Thank you for your video, it was very helpful. 2017 silverado

Im assuming this is my problem as well, my 2015s vents are stuck on defrost, temp controls work though. This video is one of the only resources I’ve found that looks to be useful.

How do you actuate the switch to move the little knob, is it suppose to do it automatically or did I just find another problem?

My 2014 GMC Yukon is stuck on blowing cold through the front only but no heat and it will not move to floor or defrost also the rear hvac is stuck on blowing cold through the floor vent and will not move to the overhead
I don’t think all the actuators would fail all a once in the same position so there must be another problem
Do you think the control in the dashboard could be causing the problem
I see all the videos about actuators and swing door but nobody changes the control

I have a 2014 Chevy Malibu and the mode door actuator needs replaced. Air will not stop blowing on the floor when I switch away from the floor, so I know for sure its the mode door actuator that needs to be replaced. Any idea where its located for a 2014 Chevy Malibu? Nobody has a video for the Malibu

Is there two or three screws to remove off the accuator? Also how did you reach them? I can only get to one of them. 😢

Great video! Do you have a part number on the actuator?

Is the actuator in the same spot if you got double control module?

    • @hanksgarage_
      @hanksgarage_  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

I believe so, youll have to move the controls and verify that the actuator in fact moves before you pull it.

Not sure yet but I just noticed that my upper vents do not blow air.. Fan blows great and have air below and in the center but no front window defrost so I am guessing it is the mode door actuator... Getting cold out so may have to wait till I get in a garage ..

Yea sounds like it, majority of the time one of these actuators are to blame.

Nice when you don't have to pull the dash for something like this. Can't wait for electric cars where they move the HVAC on the other side of the firewall again.

I have the same issue, did this fix the trouble for one side hot and the other cold? or is it a different motor ?
