I love that the 2024 Cayenne sticks to Porsche's timeless design language instead of going the BMW route. And kudos for keeping the interior classy instead of drowning it in excessive touchscreens!
He complains about the lack of new styling, but this is one thing that is great about Porsche, even if you have a 10 year old model, it still looks new/modern. Nothing is worse than buying a new vehicle and then 2 years later it looks dated.
Maybe they should go the BMW route, because BMW is dominating the market in sales. The X5 will sell 4x as many Cayennes, period. 😊
Looks a lot like the Q5 though.
They literally drowned the front in excessive screens.
@@ajlee6933 well, that is true. I just looked it up. In the US last year BMW sold 82k X5 and Porsche sold 21k Cayennes…ouch.
I appreciate that Porsche is evolving the Cayenne and Macan’s design in the same way they evolve the 911.
They don’t, for good reason.
They were always beautiful
@@er_hunt Said no one ever
@@er_hunt have you seen the first gen Panamera and cayenne?? They have come a long waaay… they are now beautiful 😻 but weren’t always attractive.
It’ll never be a 911 get real
@@thenotoriousc8846 that’s not at all what they’re saying. Calm down and re-read their comment.
The older Porsches with the beautiful dials and gauges in the dash looked far more refined, timeless and beautiful than the black screen slabs plastered all over the place. Seriously - what is it with this trend of overusing screens as of late?
it's cheaper to put same screen in every car and just add/remove options with software, copmaring to develop custom physical buttons and panels for every possible option configuration
Screens are cheap. Buttons and dials, especially well made ones, are expensive.
They are cheaper and do not wear out
Welcome to 2023! You must be a time traveler!
@@vovasava3498 So what happens when something glitches or software updates stop like smartphones?
Too bad Doug didn't mention the upgraded suspension. The bump and rebound valves of the dampers are now independent which gives better ride quality/comfort and more performance if need be. The air spring has 2 adjustable spring rates also for comfort or sportiness. The ride in this car is among the best I have ever experienced. Period. The amount of stuff you can do with this car is insane, it can be a luxury cruiser, a family hauler or be used on the racetrack and given the proper tires you can do some offorading too. Buy if you can afford.
His Doug score says otherwise.. it doesn’t come even close to the Range Rover 🤔
@@THExKINGxKINGx in what category? Cayenne placed first overall. To give it only 5 in Handling is ridiculous though, it's the best handling SUV out there. Maybe he has some other values going into that rating. He even says it handles like a performance sedan, has great steering and so on so I dont get the 5
@@computercrack My main point was about your comment on comfort and it being the best ride. 3 points off the best suvs isn’t close really though I understand this one handles better than them. But usually suvs are for comfort and even base or turbo (non turbo gt or gts) don’t ride well in the comfort department.
@@computercrack Yes, sometimes I feel the Doug scores are a bit "doctored".
@@THExKINGxKINGx ahh now i see your point. Well you have to know that Doug kind of compares everything to like the top notch cars in their respective category's so a 10 goes to a Rolls Royce or something like that while a Merc S-class gets a 9.
So a 7 is pretty good for a midsize SUV and as you can see there are other very expensive SUVs with "only" a 7 or even a 6.
I can tell you from personal experience that the ride comfort is excellent due to the 2-valve damper (independent bump and rebound valves, continuously adjustable) and the 2-chamber air spring (high volume for soft spring rates and less volume for sportier spring rates). Of course it's not tuned to completely detach you from the road like in a Rolls Royce but it's really really good all in all.
Doug: Enthusiastically reviews the new Porsche Cayenne!
Chevy SUV: Randomly drives around in background looking for perfect parking spot.
that chevy suv was getting annoying it was hating that it lost money and cant get the porsche

@@Tmrfe0962 gm sucks their owners always hating on high end cars but yet want to be part of the group
I was sooo distracted by this 😅… I have many questions. For starters:
1. It looks like the same SUV, but is it? Or is it a procession of them?
2a. Does Doug notice?
2b. Is Doug concerned?
3. How many more times did a black Chevy appear in cuts that didn’t make it into the final video?
4. Is there an off-camera interaction?
I couldn’t let it go… it’s at least two different SUVs: one with a front license plate and another without.
A perfect example of why you shouldn't fix something that ain't broken
Why tho
it’s a porsche. not a toyota. certainly a luxury brand will try to be ahead of the curve.
@@chasesturgillusually it’s the opposite. The lower brands experiment and the luxury brands follow. Think how long it took luxury brands to make SUVs and Cabrios
Not sure if you're talking about Cayenne or Doug making a solo review again but I agree with both
@Jan P The old design wasn't good, but this one is worse. Definitely looks chunkier, like its put on a few pounds
Another great video Doug, you inspired me to build and price my own.
I started with the "base" Cayane and I chose the Montego blue metallic exterior with grey Vesuvius wheels with blue heated, ventilated, and cooled leather interior. (I wish you could get cloth and but I was glad the HVAC seats were stand alone)
Off road package with rear steer, aluminum roof racks and skid plates, and Burmeister sound system MSRP $133,630
Yup. Expect an additional 20-30k to build any Porsche, and that’s being careful with the build. I hit nearly 35k on my Turbo GT. You’ll notice that the spec cars the dealers build for the lot are very basic.
@@cranialnerv Oh yeah, I expected dealer markups and extra charges even with mine, it's not that I was being careful, there were just alot of options I didn't want and what I did want was expensive.

Porsche is truly amazing for putting back V8 in times when everyone is getting rid of v8s. Exhaust sounds amazing
I had the chance to drive a Turbo and in reality it's ten times better, it's so awesome. It has a really deep rumble to it and sounds really perfect. Even my wife didn't object to using the sport exhaust button XD
LOL without the V8 yu might as well buy a Kia Telluride
Have you ever heard of Lexus? They still offer V8s in most models.

I hated the Auto Start Stop feature at first and disabled it but I've have grown to like it a lot for the silence when stopped in traffic. Using it also provided quite a bump in fuel economy. Waking the engine up from its "sleep" can be smoothed considerably by being light on the gas pedal when pulling away from a stop. If you want to zoom away from a stop, select Sport mode which disables Auto Start Stop.
Interesting! I hated it too. Still have it off. I have a 2104 Platinum Edition. I'll try what you suggested. Thanks.
@@aaronmichael276 living in the future is fun! i bet having the jet turbines auto start-stop really affects red light performance
You guys should be getting the E-Hybrid instead of what you have
Depending on the car, starter, engine etc, it's possible that it wears down the engine since at every start from the start-stop there is a split second where the engine is running dry. This was the case on early cars with start-stop (think 2010-2015) and pure ICE. Not sure about this specific Porsche
@@vladandrei51 That's an unknown. Hybrid vehicles have always used start-stop but most (all?) use motor generators to restart the engine instead of a traditional separate starter. I guess I'll find out if there are reliability issues if we keep our 2022 Cayenne long enough - currently at 8,600 miles. Our 2012 Prius v hybrid which has a motor generator to restart the engine has never had any problems.
I agree! I am still ready for more of an exterior styling upgrade but other than that, this vehicle is amazing

Another great review by Doug. The new Cayenne looks like a solid freshening, especially the v8 engine. Doug briefly touches on this in the review, but Porsche pricing has gotten out of hand. I know in recent earnings release executive management was very candid about targeting 20%+ profit margin. Prices across the board for Porsche offerings in the US on 2024 models have gone up as a result. Combine higher MSRP prices with limited supply, and we continue to live with ADM's. I don't fault dealerships for this - simple economics of supply and demand (and they have massive infrastructure & salaries they need to cover selling fewer vehicles). Seems like Porsche continues to struggle with production ramp-up post COVID. Puts a Porsche out of reach for a lot of people (who a few years ago could get one).

@@cyanprince00 It really can do everything. It handles and drives as good as a serious sports sedan, all while being quite practical. I can even tow my small utility trailer with it.

Beautifully done. Updated and nothing more, so much better than what BMW is doing ruining all their classy old designs. I think this and the new Range Rover are going to make a lot of BMW X5 and X7 switch cars.
The new Range Rover is very boring to look at though. It feels like they took the old car and just smoothed it out a bit. I always found it to be angular and that was it's best feature.
I'm a former BMW owner & current Porsche owner. Generally speaking I think BMW is ruined but I recently rented a new hybrid X5 and it was fantastic. The mild hybrid system is excellent at filling power during gear changes. The drivetrain is truly excellent. And it's not fugly like the X7/iX/XM. Is it pretty? No. But it's not offensive IMHO and it's a LOT cheaper than the Cayenne & Range Rover.
I was one of them!
@@canyonaro X5 generally isn't too ugly yet, X6 was always hideous. But yeah here in the UAE we don't get many hybrid versions cause they don't do much for fuel economy. Still, the petrol versions of the X5 are great.

I think the pricing is still quite good considering inflation and what compareable models from e.g. mercedes cost. You get a GLE 300d 4MATIC with amg line and all the bits for the same price you get the standard Cayenne with a V6 and also the extra bits. Still a good price in relation

I'm so glad that keyless entry (which i got standard on my 12 year old Prius which cost $18k back then) is now standard on the $80-100k Cayene.
This seems like a great Cayenne without having to spring for the Turbo or Turbo S. As you said... you get more performance than you'd really need in this and all the features and modern amenities you'd want in an SUV. Would have been nice to see with a third-row though.

I worked at a Porsche dealership and have been saying for years they've gotten too expensive. An increase in $10k in base price is insane for a new model, even with all the updated standard features that come on a damn Accord now. The Cayenne S, which starts at $95,700, makes a great case against other luxury SUVs, like the Cadillac Escalade. It doesn't have the raw size and brash exterior of the Caddy, but it is quicker, more powerful, and a better daily driving companion, because it drives like a Porsche, not an elephant. One of the best SUVs you can get under $100k, so Porsche has no problem moving them.
"under 100k" yeah surely not 😂
An elephant? Aw haha 😂 I don't like big honkin cars much either
I’m sorry but the under 100k is completely BS and unrealistic with all German cars you literally have not got any modern feature unless you spend tens of thousands of dollars in options which may be fine anyway but is deceptive
I love everything about this car thus far. Only issue I really have is the fact that the interior has a striking resemblance to the Volvo XC90 Executive
Doug, you can bypass the VAG soft rev limiter by rolling in neutral at around 5 MPH

Back seats big enough for a family car, as long as your wallet is big enough to afford the huge increase in price. I kinda like the interior colour combo I have a green interior on my SUV as well.
Nice to have something other than straight black. Always a differentiating, fresh choice!
And including an ash tray. Not too bad. (seriously who would smoke in the back of someones luxury porsche?)
The price increase isn't huge unless you weren't planning on getting those features now included as standard (wireless charging, active suspension, etc) that used to be cost options.
And let's face it, you were, weren't you?
@@joetacchino4470 it might have more "value" then previous models. But most of those features are on most of the competition too. So it's still pricey. But now I'm not paying $1000 for a wireless charger.
Everything is more expensive now depending on where you live Milk is less expensive then beer :-)
Doug, we love you Doug
The AC vent for the wireless charger is genius. Wireless charging generates heats up the phone pretty quickly
the thing is that while you're saying stuff like how the drive mode selector is now standard.... well all other suvs have them so it's not really impressive. They had to do it basically.

I bought a ‘22 macan bc I hated the back of the cayenne. This one is beautiful.
How do you like the Macan?
@@HeartlessWon506 I needed a do-everything vehicle and I can’t imagine anything doing that better. Simply no other SUV drives like it, especially with the PDK which the cayenne doesn’t get.
@@brianpowell2298 what’s PDK? And what year did you get? I’m looking at a 2015 Macan that’s pretty well equipped but I’m questioning the off road ability. I want to bring it to the beaches here on the weekends.
@@HeartlessWon506PDK is Porsche’s dual clutch transmission and people love it
The styling is the only reason I went for Alfa Stelio QF. It's a rougher ride that I would want, but it is a pretty car. Cayenne just looks like a minivan at this point.
thank you i was looking forward to this i ordered one in coupe and now waiting patiently until the end of september
the carbon interior and exterior was a very expensive option I can already tell you that you can buy a golf 6 or 7 for the price how much it cost 😅
