    Personally it’s one of my favorite cards out there rn. Low annual fee for what it offers. I’m easily able to use the travel credit so the card is pretty much free. I have gotten to use the price match often actually , most of the time they do apply it automatically. Finally it’s a perfect all catch card for me. They also offer lots of cash back for many retailers I use. Only complaint is I wish they had more capital one lounges. Although I think once they do they will nerf some of the other perks.

    Great job on the pros and cons of the Venture X! I can definately see why people would get it and maybe in the distant future, I will too. Max Rewards has been trash for me the last month or so hahaha not updating some of my cards.

      @SpencerJohnsonOfficial  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you Sledge! I imagine it's less valuable for someone in your position right now, but it's a solid card as it stands at the moment. And MaxRewards is mid rollout on their new version of the app so I think that's why they're down. Of course I'm not on the dev team, but that's my understanding of it.

    Awesome unbiased video about the VX, Spencer. This was very helpful for myself who has the VX. My biggest takeaways were the “lack of flexibility and how majority of people would prefer the boost over the 2x multiplier.”
    That exact reasoning is why I still use my CFU as my catch-all instead. With the CSP boost I’m technically getting 1.875x from the portal and a fixed value of 2x Southwest miles (1.4 fixed rate). You might as well call it a 2x card based on redemptions lol. All in all if im in an emergency situation, I don’t feel confident in C1s redemptions due to their lack of flexibility

    • @SpencerJohnsonOfficial
      @SpencerJohnsonOfficial  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you so much man! I think those two takeaways you mentioned are good ones to note. I can definitely see why you'd use the CFU as your catch-all still, and I frequently do too. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

      @torrencesorrell5441 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SpencerJohnsonOfficial yeah those SW and Hyatt redemptions are clutch and worth the 50% hit in earnings. That’s why you’re one of my fav credit card TH-camrs… from the standpoint of relating to the “common person” in the space. Your setup closely resembles mines, which helps me a ton.
      I would add another VX con… is that there is no recon-line so you’re pretty much screwed if you’re denied lol and there’s not much of a human element to assist you. Overall, as dope as the duo is from an earnings standpoint… I would always see the setup as “secondary” to Amex and Chase, but of course YMMV… that’s the beauty of the game 😉

  • @Wongo150

    Definitely the best travel card for the average person in my opinion. I travel 2-3x per year so I use the credits they offer easily. I don’t really care too much for lounges mainly because I get to the airport right on time before my flight. So I never really have 2-3hours to kill which if I did would make sense having lounge access. Since this card is a VISA credit card I put absolutely all my expenses on it. I’ve had the card for 5 months and I’m close to 185k in miles already. I did have a 25k referral and the 75k bonus that helped a lot. I hate juggling several cards and accounts so I only have this card and honestly I don’t see any other reason for me to switch to another card or have another card. Best card for me for travel and for a “catch all” card.

      Thank you so much for sharing your experience! I think you are the exact right person to have this card from the sounds of it. The Venture X is definitely a great option to be able to utilize as a Keeper Card if you utilize the Travel Credit & Bonus Miles each year. Definitely a good starter premium travel Card as well with the lower $395 Fee. With that said, Capital One is definitely not my favorite issuer, and we've had some trouble with Capital One Customer Service and them not giving us the signup bonus when we got the Savor One in our 2 Player Setup. Great video Spencer!

    I think this card is great for two types of people.
    1) You're a free agent and don't care about status or what hotel you stay at
    2) You don't mind using portals.
    I think if you fit into these categories there is a lot of value to be had from his card

    Great overview of the card! I love mine and have noticed that C1 has a different customer service department for the Venture X card. When they answer these calls specifically, they are called "personal client managers" or something like that. They all seem very knowledgeable and customer service oriented. Definitely a drastic difference when I call C1 for my Savor one. Until more perks of the card get nerfed, I think it is the best premium card on the market today. Great video and summary of the Venture X. One question though, you said the cashback rate is half a cent. Can't points be redeemed at a rate of $.01 per point for travel booked via the portal and against previous travel purchases? Am I mistaken in thinking of the Venture X having what should be a minimum earn rate of $.02 per dollar (unless cashing out for non-travel or transferring to a partner and redeeming miles/ points for a poor value)?

    November '23 will mark 2 years of using this card as my main spender. Your video is spot on with the pros and cons. I feel the X is a card that got overhyped in the credit card space to the point of getting annoying. I'm also glad you brought up Capital One's very picky selection of applicants for this card, something that often does not get brought up in other reviews of the X. I also think it's very likely the 10,000 miles annual credit will be restricted soon. Maybe you will have to spend $15,000 on the card in the past cardmember year to get the credit or something like that. I personally still use it as a main spender but if it gets restricted too much more then I'll probably go to the CSR instead.

    Nice review of the Venture X Spencer! I'll admit, the only thing really keeping me away from this card is Capital One's questionable approval system. Capital One Lounges are one of my favorite perks with the Venture X, its a great catch all card at 2x. Effective annual fee makes it a no brainer. The only thing I didn’t like is that it was travel portal dependent to earn the higher earnings rates. I downgraded my venture x when i got my amex platinum since there is a lot of overlap between both cards. I think when i get tired of the amex platinum annual fee ill go back to the venture x

    i liked your point at the end about the venture x not really having a fair point of comparison when it comes to other premium travel cards. for me the venture x slots more into that teir 3.5 that ben hedges coined. its more of a toe in the water when it comes to premium travel cards than a full jump like the CSR or platinum and it probably has a more fair comparison with something like the amex gold or green than cards with higher annual fees than the venture x. its just in a weird middle ground where it may be a great value for some people while still punching too low for others.

    So something interesting I went through recently. I am looking for a bonus to give us some good credits and points toward an upcoming vacation this summer. This vacation will be on the budget end with lots all of my kids and I will be roadtripping. So my priority is number of nights from the lowest cost. Looking at the VX 90k offer and the CSR 60k offer both of which are $900 in value the whole the $300 credit on the C1 is more restrictive the $900 from the bonus is much more flexible as we could use it though a vacation club or other discounted rate stay service. With the CSR bonus I would have to push it to cash back and then pay for it that way. At which point it would only be worth $600.

    • @SpencerJohnsonOfficial
      @SpencerJohnsonOfficial  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's definitely an interesting situation. I'd say if you're gonna use the Chase travel portal, the CSR is the better choice right now. I respect that! While that may be part of it, I would say there's more to it than that.
