    NOTE: The Chase Sapphire Terrace lounge will be closing in March 2025, so that will impact my value from the card in year 2. However, I hope AUS brings back a better Chase lounge soon.

      As an Austin area resident, that lounge shutting down will likely lead to me downgrading. It wasn’t great but it still provided value. I could see them opening another in the future but I’m sure that will be 2-3 years at the earliest.

ANA as a transfer partner is a huge deal to me as I travel to japan for vacation. Cathay if I decide to use JAL. the only thing I dislike about the platinum is the hotel credit only applies to the more expensive properties on their hotel portal.

Last time I was in Austin the Chase Sapphire Terrace was closed because of rain and their indoor area is a joke, so small. I'm headed to Austin next week so I hope the weather is good enough to try out the Sapphire Terrace before it goes away in March. I literally upgraded to the CSR because of the priority pass restaurants and then they dropped that benefit, and now with the Sapphire Terrace going away, It made me decide I will be downgrading when the annual fee hits. After weighing my Chase Sapphire Reserve, Venture X and Amex Platinum.... My conclusion was that I'll only keep the Amex Platinum because it provides the most value.

      The freedoms have had for several years new card sign up bonus with x5 in groceries and gas for first year. Im on year 3 of this offer.

      I completely get where you’re coming from! I’d love to see a more permanent grocery category, but as Bill mentioned, the Freedom card limited time offers can come in clutch there. As for the Terrace lounge, it’s not as nice as a staple Chase lounge product, but I’m definitely not complaining about having access to it until March. I’m glad you’ve found a card that works better for you though! Thanks for sharing your thoughts Luis!

    I don't see how you come out so far ahead on your EAF after you remove the 50% boost from the equation. Using the monetary value list (16:23) the EAF is -$46.64 no?

    • @TheMrbrayn
      @TheMrbrayn 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      that's 550 - (300 + 185.5 + 81.14 +30) = -46.64

      You got the right idea, but gotta include the value from all the points I earned as well!

    Hopefully someone can clarify about the $10k limit.
    I don't meet that with my CSP, don't have other Chase cards to transfer from, and locked in Chase jail, lol.

      You may be able to request an increased credit limit

      @SpencerJohnsonOfficial  13 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I’d definitely look into asking for a credit limit increase if you can! 5/24 shouldn’t impact that. Or you can call Chase directly and ask about this when trying to product change.

      DPs show it’s a requirement for Chase as it applies to the Ritz Carlton card too. You need a min $10K. The same should apply to the CSR because of Visa Infinite.
      The only Visa infinite that doesn’t have this $10K rule is the USBAR and another card I can’t remember.

    Chase nerfed the most important and useful travel protection on the CSR which is pretty significant.

      Won’t be able to post a link to the article but check out Frequent Miler’s reporting on it. The title of the article:
      “Chase partially tanks “pay partial” trip cancellation insurance”

      @SpencerJohnsonOfficial  13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thanks for bringing that to our attention! That doesn’t ruin the card for me by any means, especially because it’s a niche case in which you wouldn’t be covered, but it’s good to be aware of for sure. Luckily the card still has arguably the best protections in the game despite that partial change. I appreciate you being here so early btw! 🥉

    Let’s say I have the CSP for 14 months then product change to CSR. Am I charged the $550 right after paying the $95 fee?

    • @jjvalles7
      @jjvalles7 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I had the same situation. I was refunded the $95 and then charged the $550

    • @SpencerJohnsonOfficial

      In my experience, they prorate your annual fee on the CSR if you paid the CSP fee recently. It seems like they may refund you the CSP annual fee first based on the other comment here though.
