I have been doing this race since 1986. I love how most everyone works together to help each other out. In the end its about fun with fellow riders. See you in 2021 for the 50th running!

Kudos to you for being a good trail rider and helping out other folks. I'm still kinda new to dirt but thinking about racing someday.

Suzy America give it a go. Everywhere I've raced has been extremely welcoming and helpful. There's little local events everywhere. I recommend hare scambles or something like that to begin. Larger variety of riders. Good luck.

Thanks for the encouragement! I just got a different bike and it's a game-changer .. KDX220R with a bunch of mods .. when I'm on that thing it's like Wiley Coyote strapping on the ACME rocket. I'm putting up some fresh video later if you want to see what it's like.

Even with tubliss you need to run 15 psi front and rear for the D-100. The 99.9% sure way to not have flats is mousse. In 2015 I sliced open my brand new Kenda Parker DT rear, way too large of a gash to repair so DNF'd also. This year I was running brand new Parkers on the front and rear and made it 100 miles, plus a day of riding at Mattawa on the Saturday before the race on those tires.

This was my third run on tubliss at the 100. First two went well, this one less so. But i hear you. Contemplating going to a mousse in the front next year for the race but i do love my traction.

Do the poker run on Saturday to get a feel for the terrain but mostly, armour up the bike, run heavy duty tubes or mousse. The terrain isn't necessarily super hard, just relentless in a way thats hard to describe and with all the rocks, a heavy penalty is extracted on you and your bike for every mistake. Take your time and set a nice pace, all those people that blast by you at the start will be waiting for the quads to pick them up later with holes in their bikes. Make sure you come say Hi at our campsite. Great place to meet great people.

The OA winners usually finish in the 3:30-4hr mark. They aren't human and apparently can't die though. Bulk of the human riders finish in the 4:45-5:45 depending on the year.

Go out and enjoy it. Moose tubless front and rear a must. I went 2017 for the first time at the D100. first race for 30 years for me. Great experience
