    FIRST!
    BTW this was done in less takes than most of my other videos. Is it any worse? Because I don't think it is.

      Actually Hardcore Overclocking it's not worse. hell, the only way I even noticed was that you just said that.

      good because that means I crank up the production speed. More content is after all more better. ;)

      Honestly, i really think that part of the reason that I enjoy watching your channel is cause you have that 'super knowledgeable casual guy' vibe about you. The fact that you joke around and don't stick to a perfect script makes you seem really genuine and I actually like that. Don't worry so much about messing up :) Content is great :D

    Can't wait till your channel grows to the point where people will literally send you cards just so you can show you're audience how capable each card is. Putting videos out in a more reliable manner will probably aid in your channel growth, so less takes (like you did for this video) would be greatly appreciated.

    • @ActuallyHardcoreOverclocking
      @ActuallyHardcoreOverclocking  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      The only concern there is that I might not get sent things that are bad for fear of them being bad. Then again that's kinda what the Patreon would cover.

    Did you end up overclocking this card or any other 1050Ti? I am curious if 14nm samsung process did really improve voltage/temperature scaling.

    Great video review as always. Question: Can you do a review on the PCB of the XFX RX 480 8GB RS version which is shorter than the GTR? That would be awesome!

    I have a question, Buildzoid. Is there any possibility for motherboard related content in the future? I would be interested in motherboard content in the future alongside this, assuming it didn't interfere too much with what is already being done.

      Mobos are harder to get photos of. However as the channel is growing I will probably be able to get board samples.

    What are the row of capacitors by the pcie connector on the back side of the card? I managed to chip one off pulling the shroud off of my gigabyte 1050Ti OC low profile card, and I'd like to try and fix it.

    @Buildzoid. a quick and properbly stupid question. i want to flash a better bios on my rx 480. Can i use the elmore unlooked bios ore do i need to modd the existing bios on my card.
    And i can't get my vram stable over 2100 mhz why is that so and how can i fix it.
    Sorry for my bad english. Hope you can answer my question.

    • @ActuallyHardcoreOverclocking
      @ActuallyHardcoreOverclocking  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      the low maximum memory clock is probably going to be a memory controller limitation. You can't really get around that. As for BIOSs the Elmore BIOS doesn't work on all cards. IMO it's best to just take you current BIOS and tweak it for more power and better memory timings.

    • @creative_stwb1336

      Thanks for your quick answer.
      if its a controler limitation than most saphire nitro cards will not like meory colck at all. If testet 3 cards and the best managed 2130 mhz 24/7

    Anyone want to help me out. I am thinking of buying an rx 480 8gb however I am not sure which one to buy. I have narrowed it down to Sapphire Nitro + Overclock which is on sale currently for 249.99, XFX Black Editon, and MSI Gaming X.

      that's not the Zotac AMP. That's the PGF and it's China exclusive so I can't get any proper PCB pictures for it.

  • @Space_Reptile

    the point about nv bioses being locked down on the 10 series made me think , i have an R9 290 (reference turbine card) , are there any optimized bioses out there (not just a 290x flash) that i could take advantage of? hence this is a ref card the bios is 3 years old and maybe it has been improved later

    • @OTechnology
      @OTechnology 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      As far as I know newer BIOS revisions dont usually bring performance improvements. The driver usually does that.

    • @Space_Reptile
      @Space_Reptile 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      ah okay

    • @ActuallyHardcoreOverclocking
      @ActuallyHardcoreOverclocking  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      You could try tweak the power limits if by any chance you are managing to hit the 450W limit the ref cards have when at +50% power. You could also tweak the VRAM timings for a bit more performance.

    • @Jojo11119
      @Jojo11119 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      i've always undervolted my cards since a 7970(969mV for 925MHz) and now my RX 480,1005mV for 1266MHz AUX voltage at 820mV,and tweaked the timings,much less heat and noise,extended lifetime yay,thats something really good you can do to an R9 290 reference,but since AHOC is all about blowing voltages at 1.4V+,he will recommend increasing everything,including the jet noise.

    stock bios: ufile.io/8f1a9
    extreme one: ufile.io/4d20a
    Links will expire in 30days.
    Thanks in advance.
    P.S.: sorry for my bad english if i write wrong something. :D

    In a failed graphics card, is the core ever the part that dies?

    • @windshield11
      @windshield11 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      mike fox Suppose the probability of that happening is the same as a CPU dying.

    • @ActuallyHardcoreOverclocking
      @ActuallyHardcoreOverclocking  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can get a core to die by overheating it or by running too much voltage through it for a long time. Generally however GPUs fail due to the FCBGA(silicon to substrate bonds) failing after a few years of thermal cycling. Occaisionaly you can also crack the BGA mounts from the substrate to the PCB but that generally does happen. Other failures are caps degrading(which leads to bad voltage regualtion which causes instability/failure to function) and VRMs burning out.
