    I put the Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut on only the first resistor. I kept the clock offset at +283, while running heaven the card ran at 2138 with a voltage of 1.075. After the mod the card ran at 2151 with a voltage of 1.093. I ran User Benchmark and hit a max clock of 2202. Thinking about ripping the card back out and doing the second resistor. I am running a EVGA hybrid kit on the card with push/pull on the rad. Great video, it was a nice little project for me.

    I opened mine up and all the components spoken of here including some additionals have high quality thermal pads on them and sink with the baseplate which in turn gets cooled by the aircooler of the card.

    16:48 toward the bottom left of the pcb what is the one of two parts labeled 0503 and 0504. Specifically 0504 fired on a friends gpu. Here is the LTT forum link with picture linustechtips.com/main/topic/716622-titan-xp-fried/

      those are Q503 and Q504(the Q indicates that these a transistors). I would recommend trying an RMA before trying to fix it yourself.

    Hi how are you?. I have a liquid damaged 1080 TI and i need the IC model number of the VRM on the left, the one that you said that you don´t know anything about. I greatly appreciate any help you can give me on this matter as i have searched the entire internet and no info i found whatsoever about this IC. I know is some kind of VRM, but i dont know the IC marking on it, mine got destroyed.
    Thank you for any help you can give me in advance. Thumbs up

    0:45 music to my ears... I always keep at least one class C fire extinguisher by my test bench, and Nvida refuses to refund even a portion of the $1200 I paid for a Titan Xp (only offers RMA after 30 days), and they have horrible drivers, so I can't fix that, and I'll keep sending dead Titans to them until they refund my money (or I'll have a wall of pictures from the dozens of ways I'll set fire to them, I may charge them for fire extinguishers). Might as well practice LN2 overclocking on something garbage, like a Titan!

    Hi Buildzoid, I'm helping a friend overclock two Titan Xp's on sub zero temps and running into problems when going below -5 degrees C. Below -5 the V/F curve switches automatically to a "safe profile" which limits voltage and can bring it down to 1.075 or even 1.02. In the end, just trying to speed up to 2200ghz or higher while keeping temps low like everything else. Do you know where the temp sensor is on the board (assuming inside the GPU chip)? And would you know how to bypass it, short it, or maybe even insulate it? Or do you have any other suggestions? Thanks

    Say if a BIOS tweaker does come out for Pascal... What would you recommend going to if I have an EK waterblock? (Above 1.093v and 120% power limit of course seen as I can only go to 1860MHz DUE to being limited on power on my TITAN XP).

    @Actually Hardcore Overclocking
    The card can do 2100Mhz on Water/Air. is crazy.

    • @ActuallyHardcoreOverclocking
      @ActuallyHardcoreOverclocking  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I saw Marc0053's TITAN X stream yesterday. The card will go over 2Ghz easily with water cooling but it needs power mods to sustain the speeds for a decent amount of time.

    • @C0manso
      @C0manso 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Actually Hardcore Overclocking err, mine wants to boost to 1855MHz on its own without me changing the clock so I'm worried but my card is probably designed to run like that if it comes stock.

    • @ActuallyHardcoreOverclocking
      @ActuallyHardcoreOverclocking  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's just how Nvidia cards work. They write 1 speed on the box and IRL the cards run well above it.

    • @C0manso
      @C0manso 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      My card wants run at base clock a lot though or boost when it doesn't need to. But I'm unsure if thats driver related seen as it's a new card. F1 2011, max settings vysnc 1080p it will go to 1408 and in a very low intensive game like Roblox it will do the same when it really doesn't need to. I have an I7 4790K CPU and 16GB 2400Mhz RAM so no bottle necks either

    • @ActuallyHardcoreOverclocking
      @ActuallyHardcoreOverclocking  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It runs faster in Roblox because running Roblox is easier and so the Boost algorithm is fed lower power and temps and so it see that it can raise the clocks more.

    I'm interested now. Anyone know something to that... I haven't found anything on this topic:
    It is well known that the GTX 970 has he 512mb vram issue... but also it is a GTX 980 Chip with disabled (384) Cuda cores....
    would anyone know if flashing a GTX 980 BIOS on this Card (I have the 980 BIOS for this pcb cause its the same on both 970 and 980) would activate these 384 disabled CUDA cores in the 3SMM blocks?? I'm just curious if they just disable it by BIOS or do they deactivate them in another way? Any information WILL be appreciated for my curiousity.

      Quit lying, i OWN this card and it EASILY hits 60fps in the witcher 3 at 4K Ultra with STOCK 1,400mhz speed! Mine overclocks to 2,025mhz and ends up with over *70fps* on Witcher 3 Ultra 4K. And you are seriously looking stupid as hell here calling The Witcher 3 an "old game" lol. It just came out a year ago genius! And it's still basically THE most demanding game out there bar unoptimized crappy messes like Assasin's Creed. I've tested over a DOZEN modern AAA titles from the last year or so and they ALL achieve well over 60fps at 4K with all ultra settings. DOOM with Nightmare settings? More like 80fps. The Division? ~68fps average. I can continue on and on with games like Total War: Warhammer, Far Cry Primal, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Just Cause 3, etc..etc..etc.. they ALL get around 60fps at STOCK speed and once overclocked it proceeds to get WELL over 60fps heading into averages of 70fps or higher! www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/nvidia_geforce_titan_x_pascal_review,36.html

    Hey I watch your channel and I bought one of these :P
    Lol. I am taking my heatsink off tonight, do you want me to get good, closeup pics of the PCB for you to see all the part numbers of stuff in the VRM and all that?

    • @ActuallyHardcoreOverclocking
      @ActuallyHardcoreOverclocking  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      TBH without being able to stab the card with a DMM I still can't ID more stuff from a photo. It would be cool if you could confirm that the MOSFETs have 4C85N written on them. You will probably need good lighting and magnification to do that.

    • @LordSaliss
      @LordSaliss 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ok Ill confirm that for you tonight. I also am going to check resistance from pin 1 of the voltage controller cause I will probably want to play around with voltage. Kinda depends though as like you said, the VRM isnt the greatest for raising voltage and it really depends how well I can keep it cooled, which I am going to check tonight what the running temps are too and how well the VRM responds to a fan on the backside of the section. Hopefully AquaComputer makes another active VRM cooled backplate for the Titan XP as Id love to just stick that thing on it to make sure it stays at a safe temp.

    • @LordSaliss
      @LordSaliss 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Actually Hardcore Overclocking Ok so got halfway through taking the heatsink off and found 4 screws screws that are just absolutely tiny. More so that even the tiny ones on the back of the card. So have to finish taking it apart tomorrow whwn I can get an even smaller screwdriver.
      Pin 1 of the voltage controller reads 3.0209 kohms though. Obviously margin of error in there but I do have a fairly accurate dmm so it should be somewhat close.

    • @ActuallyHardcoreOverclocking
      @ActuallyHardcoreOverclocking  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In that case a 30K ohm resistor will give you about 10% more volts.

    • @LordSaliss
      @LordSaliss 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Actually Hardcore Overclocking 30 kohm is 10x as much resistance right? So wouldn't that give 10x as much voltage? Im not great at electronics calculations but I kinda figured a resistor with 10% more ohms (which would be 3.3kohm) would give me 10% more voltage.

    Will the EK blocks be sufficient cooling for the VRM's?

    • @ActuallyHardcoreOverclocking
      @ActuallyHardcoreOverclocking  8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      should be. I never tested the performance of EK full cover blocks since they are far too expensive for me and I can't re-use them like I do with the universal blocks.

    • @jakelarue5053
      @jakelarue5053 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks!

    • @xXDarkxIdealsXx
      @xXDarkxIdealsXx 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes they are great at cooling everything really. On my old Maxwell TITAN X's i had, i could hit around 1,450mhz on each, and raise memory by around ~250mhz or so. Even with a bit of volt modding 1,475mhz & +300mhz memory was about my limit, and the temps on the VRM and VRAM chips were quite high. After using the EK FC-TITANX CSQ waterblock i never had my VRM raise over ~50C, and the core temps never passed the low 40's or so; despite having a 1,535mhz core overclock and +500mhz memory on them both.

  • @1sword4you

    I can't touch your single fury graphics score on HWBot even though I'm running nearly the same clocks, does that really come from optimized Win7 install?

    • @ActuallyHardcoreOverclocking
      @ActuallyHardcoreOverclocking  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      The card is unlocked to 3840 cores and HWbot allows disabling tesselation in the driver. That's probably most of my efficiency on that score. The big diff with a good windows install is the physics score. I can outscore a 5GHz 5960X on vanilla win10 with my 5960X at 4.9 as long as I have a proper win 7 install.

    • @1sword4you
      @1sword4you 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      mine is unlocked as well and I have disabled tesselation, I am 500 graphics score behind with same clocks. I think I'll have to try optimized win7 install, as it looks that Combined Score is also heavily impacted by stuff running in background

    • @ActuallyHardcoreOverclocking
      @ActuallyHardcoreOverclocking  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      yeah physics and combined are CPU bound with the Fury and Fury X cards so windows has a pretty large impact on them.

    Why is there so many unpopulated ICs, mosfets or capacitors on this card ?

    • @ActuallyHardcoreOverclocking
      @ActuallyHardcoreOverclocking  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's mostly MOSFETs that got left out. A single 4C85N is 1.085$. So Nvidia saved about 8$ in components on this PCB by not including them. Kinda sucks to know that you are paying 1200$ for a card that got down costed by 8$ because of Nvidia's profits. The other big missing things are IC mounts but those look like they were used for some alternative voltage controllers that Nvidia decided to scrap.

    • @MrFlatox
      @MrFlatox 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Is there no low side mosfets on this VRM setup ? Are they both (high and low side) on the same package ?

      I meant same as in needing an E-power not performance wise

    • @xXDarkxIdealsXx
      @xXDarkxIdealsXx 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No, it doesn't need an E-power board for a "real OC". Mine hits a massive overclock of 2,025mhz easily on the standard reference blower cooler. That's already an increase of *600mhz* over stock speed! And using an EVGA "hybrid" cooler i was able to hit 2,075mhz no problem. All of this is with NO voltage or Bios modding etc.. either. I also had the memory overclocked to 11,000mhz giving it a 528GB/s bandwidth, which is even more than the bandwidth of the HBM on like the Fury-X has (512GB/s). WIth a proper waterblock you can easily get 2,100mhz out of these without even touching voltage and Bios mods. So nice try but your baseless fanboyism doesn't work when there are facts in the way. So far i've only managed to do a hybrid cooler, tried rigging a Maxwell TITAN X waterblock to it without much luck (different board layout makes bad contact), and a friend of mine is in the process of tweaking one of these with a single phase, phase change cooler. He's hitting a bit over 2,2000mhz on it so far...still no e-power board.

      I'll be destroying several Titan Xp cards on my channel "Legit_Overclocking", first on sub-zero phase (should be enough to burn them), and then LN2 later. I already have GPU insulation ready and cut out from the last card my cooler destroyed, so let the destruction begin!

  • @MrKillswitch88
    @MrKillswitch88 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Don't need to know much that the VRMs on these 10 series cards are near cancer levels and Nvidia got too cheap. Once the warranty expires of many of these cards the complaints will probably flood in as they start or brick. One dual mode mosfet per phase is suicide and designed to fail.

      Hence why I have seen and had a lot of Nvidia cards die on me. I wonder how many people know that Nvidia's GTX 1080 only costs $110 to produce, including packaging and labor? The actual gpu chip costs $44 and some change. The PCB costs $10. Talk about making huge profits and ripping people off, which is why I quit Nvidia. I'd rather lose 10-20 fps on some games using AMD than to give Nvidia money. Just imagine how much we would be paying if AMD wasn't making cards, you would be paying double the price with no competition. Think about it, people are paying almost $700 for the 1080, it's a tiny little card, with less circuity and technology than what your motherboard and cpu have, yet costs more than those components combined.
