Don't worry UK bro's. Really useful boxes are made in the UK so they're a lot cheaper for us. You can find them £4-5 for an 4 Litre and £6 for a 9 litre.
You can also buy "Ferrous sheets" - currently I can see a pack if ten A4 Size for £15 - that's 10 x "Letter paper size" for you US folks. (i.e. they fit snugly in a RUB). Think of this as basically a rubber sheet infused with iron, so it is not magnetic itself, but will allow magnets to stick. They also come with sticky backing, so you just peel that off and stick it in. I've used this across my several armies and RUBs. They work great.
You may have saved our marriage! My husband's minis are taking over and we can't afford enough manufactured bags for his stuff. Besides, his collection keeps growing. And growing. And spreading and cluttering up my library.
One thing I'm noticing about those knock off boxes is that the handles don't protrude up over the lid as much as the RUBs do, so there's less chance of accidentally unlatching it.
The number of times I've dumped my RUB full of dice and cards and measuring tape and other stuff due to the latch hitting something wrong is maddening.
Changing my shopping list for when I get paid to be these instead of more RUBs. Brillaint. I love that they're all the same foot print, whereas the 9L is slightly larger than the 4L for RUBs. To save even more money you can use the metal popcorn tins that everyone gifts at Christmas instead of shingles. I cut the bottom off and it rolls out flat giving you several feet of metal.
