Were so excited about the Paint sets, wet palette and airbrush release🥳🥳
Here's the wait list:
harderairbrush.com/pages/squidmar-pre-launch
Im so excited for the new 3 paint set been waiting since you tease it !!!!!
@@wallmage8047 Dude, we're so hyped too! Been working on all this in the BG for 1,5 years, so exciting to finally have it all ready :D
@@SquidmarMiniatures thats amazing. Came back to the hobby 6month ago and you guys pushed me to up my painting game thanks you very much 🙏
So nice, will i be able to buy them at Spiel in Essen in a few Weeks? 😮
@@bisasalz yes:)
Step 1: sculpt the mini
Step 2: prime the mini
Step 3: paint mini to golden demon standards. Lucas is awesome. He needs more cookies.
They should organize their own competition - the Golden Cookie
"The mini is almost as old as i am." hurt me far more than it should xD
Wait what, how old is that model?
@@Svenskiii Its 25 years old! 😦
Younglings...😂
@@DougFromTheBayou Pretty sure it came out in 2012 with the 8th Edition of Warriors of Chaos.
@@Anunnaki91 Oh Im probably wrong then! It sounds like Lucas is too unless he's secretly 12 years old.
Absolutely superior paint job Lucas! You got my vote for the win! 👌
Im a firm believer that the base is just as important as the model, mostly for centerpiece models. A good well thought out base can be used to tell a story and emphasize the awesomeness of the model.
Damn I LOVE you guys. Hands down 1 of my favorite channels to watch dealing with the hobby.
I have no idea how you guys are able to greatly inspire me to paint, as well as making me feel like i should NEVER pick up a brush ever again. Lol
Keep up the amazing work. I'm currently recovering from a stroke which has greatly affected my left side pretty badly. And my ability to paint or do much hobbing.
I'm steadily getting back more mobility but still have a ways to go.
While in the hospital for a month I kept my spirits up by watching many videos from you guys that I had missed due to a massive low while dealing with major depression. Then the stroke happened, which didn't help with the depression.
You guys are so amazing. You all do so much for the community and you alls such positive outlook, content and banter is so very therapeutic and invigorating.
I know I personally wouldn't be where I am mentally without you both and your team.
Please know that while it may sound cheesy, your content and motivation have greatly helped me, as well as others. More so than you will EVER know.
Keep up the amazing work, and as always thank you from the bottom of my heart for all that you do for the hobby and community.
Much love from across the pond Brothers.
I hope you guys get to see this post.
good luck with the recovery brother
@DW_R thank you so very much
have you asked for some feedback by some of your friends who already won Golden Demons? would be cool to make a video about the polishing steps and last adjustments if needed. Maybe Andy would be down for it 😃
was thinking the same!
nmm is one of the hardest things ive learned with minipainting
im still not very good at it but the first time i painted a sword that look like it actually had a shine to it i felt like i could Hear the World of Warcraft level up sound
The right side of the skin that's hit by the blue light looks like metal. It has the same blueish hue as the NMM and the almost-white highlights on the skin make it look very reflective, like metal.
I am extremely appreciate that u guys are aware that ur own promos is "sponsored content"/ad, too. It is refreshing to hear from creators.
2:56 I really hadnt processed this until you mentioned the stylistic difference but I totally agree I’m absolutely in love the base being black and the basing material being elevated and letting the black of the base show throw. 10/10 its sick
Great to see an update on the golden demon project. Looks fu**ing great man.
Bro I’ve been benching these dudes content for the last few days😂 top notch
It’s crazy how productive they are, right?
What do you bench bro?
binge not bench, but bro how much you benching?
Binge while bench is the way😂
Model looks insane mate, also only just noticed your fish tattoos and didnt realise you liked fishing! Love you and emils videos and I'll maybe one day paint half as good as you both.
Have some cookies 🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪
Absolutely insanely good! IMO the organs should be.... Wetter. Dont know if thats part of the remaining 10% but it feels like they are just there, rather than spilling out of him.
This type of project is SO inspiring, I think we all can agree :)
I am worried that there isnt enough contrast between the metallics and the skin. Obviously it looks amazing, but the judges might ding you for that
I was thinking the same thing. Too many highlights is making the miniature pop all over the place and doesn't have a central resting point for the eyes, plus, it makes difficult to understand some textures
And at least for me, my eyes continue focusing on the base instead, which is a no good because it may happen to a judge. Warm colors is where our eyes tend to go, so this is not helping the miniature at all
I think he's painted reflected light on the armour, but then painted the OSL the same way on the skin. Skin doesn't (generally) reflect much light so it makes the skin read like the armour.
Yeah the guts look like they have the same silvery sheen as the armour which makes it look kinda weird when viewed from the top.
@@Sol0666 I think this would be because they should read as slimy and thus have sheen to them.
Wooooooooooooow that looks so nice. I love the pose, the crafted bits you made with the epoxy clay look great. I love the texture you added to it. The colour scheme is great. I can't wait to see how this turns out. I hope you get a GD or at least a pin for it.
Congratulations on the excellent result Lucas! Loved this solo video from you, looking forward to more in the future
Looks badass!! Only constructive feedback is the lighting feels too bright - like he is standing under artificial light not in a hazy battlefield. I would add more contrast and more yellow tones. The sculpting is crazy good.
The strong light on the body doesn't match the light falling on the top of the axe. The NMM is quite dull in it's tones - even for Nurgle-adjacent metal, those top edges need to be picking up more light.
Super impressive piece of art
Looks awesome. Maybe it’s because you mentioned it, but my eyes are drawn to the feet and how they interface with the terrain. Really well painted but they look stark next to each other and it doesn’t read like he’s part of the environment.
Maybe he needs to cast more of a shadow on the environment. Other options could be to add some subtle drops of dark liquid coming out from the foot armour plates and dripping into the terrain. Like his festering presence is leaving a mark on the once pristine environment.
Amazing peace of art ! Amazing miniature !
E-M-I--L !! Lucas has earned a box of cookies for this one :)
don't give him any ideas!
@@SquidmarMiniatures Maybe a Finnish pinne?
Thank you, Lukas, for posting this video. I have been wanting to learn how to sculpture minis for a long time!
Good luck, Luka. I hope you win and you get lots of cookies!
I just started painting miniatures. I’m not really good (no art classes, but I watch your videos and others), but I enjoy doing them. Maybe one day I’ll get better. My goal is to be able to master the air brush (haven’t yet), because my friend has a 2 ft tall Cthulhu miniature for his Death of Cthulhu game I want to paint.
That's beautiful, thank you for showing us your process, it looks excellent!
Great job. I especially like the reflected light on the underside of the stones, it’s a compelling illusion of the effect of light
Yo, that looks great! I wish you both well with your entries!!
Looks amazing! The one thing I feel like would bring the mini all together would be a backdrop similar to illustration it was inspired by. Without that background, it doesn’t (for me personally) give it the same feeling.
That literally looks like a flat painting from some angles, that is an insane level of skill
I don't understand how you guys possibly finish all the massive projects you undertake for this channel. Between high level competition pieces, huge unique dioramas, armies that you give away, and all of the other stuff you accomplish you must never sleep. Your grindset is insane lol. Reminds me I need to paint more!
Really enjoyed this kind of video. Really immersing yourself into one, super detailed, mini. Great job. Really like the outcome
Amazing mini great work :) . An idea I heard awhile ago about plinths is a good place to look is second hand stores for old wooden rolling pins, just cut them to size and boom old wooden plinth, and you should be able to get a few of them per rolling pin. Just thought I would share that incase it helps someone out there.
Nurgle Is pleased
So am I!
Nicely done on the paintjob! And really fun video, would love to see more videos of this style seeing the whole process
Amazing work! Can't wait to see the finished piece!
Phenomenal work Lucas! I'll be rooting for ya!
The mini is looking really amazing Lukas!! I am painting a mini for the same Golden Demon contest atm. This video gave me even more inspiration to keep painting my dankhold troggoth. Maybe i will see you guys there😁 good luck in the competition!
Great work Lukas!! Looks crazy good😍
Looking forward to Spiel! Gonna be so much fun💥🥨🍻💥
Always love the work I see from this channel
Amazing painting 🔥
nice work. i paint for play more than competition and it's cool to hear about how you approach things differently. best of luck with your submission.
I regret I have only one like to give to this video, and you have my subscribe already. Spectacular mini, Luka, and you tell Emil you deserve not one, but TWO whole cookies!
I’m really rooting for you Lukas! It’s a lovely looking mini. My only criticism is that there’s too much light. Perhaps add more shadows? All the best 🤘
so much hard work over the years, you definitely deserve a golden boi on your trophy shelf sir
Has Lukas ever sculpted and painted his own fishing lures? Looks like his fishing hobby and painting minis would mix pretty well.
95% of what I use making lures came from Warhammer, airbrushing and weathering techs etc. Fly tying is a different game but I bet Lukas could knock out some killer eyes for a streamer or nose detail on a nymph
Yo, this is sick. Good luck on the comp!
give the man some cookies! this is high quality content! love it and looking forward to the next videos!
Beautiful piece!! Can't wait to see the100% 🔥🔥
Insta like, these Golden Demon project is gonna be awesome to watch!
It looks amazing can’t wait to see the finished result 10% left!!!! I hope you add some thing to the axe head …. It seems missing something, I hope you win.
Amazing work as always, Pure joy to watch
man great work, best feeling to be satisfied with a mini. Wish u the best at Golden Demon.
it deserves bronze AT LEAST
really nice sulpting, transfer between OSL is just sooo good like… what the hell, amazing!!!
Amazing job! Thx for sharing. Like the vibe of your video ;) Good luck and keep going!
Amazing work Lucas! Best of luck on GD!
Dude that looks so good. You need the arrows in his shoulder!!!
Fantastic! Good luck with the competition
I use Apoxie Sculpt a few years back for mermaid sculpture and it is amazing stuff with a decent working time, let it sit for 2o minutes after mixing if you want a firmer feel. Trouble was at the time in the UK it was difficult to get hold of unless you wanted the tiny amounts sold on crafting sites, the larger pot sizes were available on Taxidermy sites but at the time I got mine cheaper from Norway if I remember correctly. I do have to say, these guys are not lying when they say it is good stuff, I fi Can make a shaped and textured Mermaid Tail Fin on my first attempt at sculpting (and we are talking 1/10th scale so imagine how floppy that would be with Green Stuff) anyone can use this stuff.
Lets Go! (digging the new tattoos)
This mini is stunning, great work dude!
Very happy to see you made this video :)
that is amazing work =D especially the highlighting on the entrails. Looks very shiny and wet ^^d
What a superb conversion and painting! 🤩
This is gonna be amazing 🤩
This is absolutely insane! Masterclass! Tell your boss you deserve a raise of several chokladkakor a month.
if you do nurgle often, and you got too much poxy, put a ball on a stick, and press it into an armour damage hole, or on some postules, if its dry, you got a stamp for more postules or damage holes for armour for the next kitbash ;)
I love this type of content of just drawing , I can learn a lot from that And get inspired. Thanks ✌🏼
Incredible work Lukas, but winning golden demon is a titanic task. May be, metalic parts more rusty for create more contrast, the back of the free hand seems has metallic as the shoulder armor. And for the libers may be a bit of resin for doing more "juicy" and putrid effect. I press harder with my better intention.
The base is my favourite part - looks absolutely sick. I would watch an entire video on just doing the base - did I already miss that one?
If my paintings looked that way at 90% I’d be calling it done… though I would have been painting up to a point where I’m happy with how it looks on a table rather than a display. So good luck.
Insane result. Please do more stressfull, but lit, competition pieces so we can see more of the quality.
Well done, it looks amazing. I hope you win! 🎉
Keep up the great work Lucas, looks amazing, got my fingers crossed you win golden demon 😁
Love me a good Lukas video. Give that man a cookie.
Also yes. More entries please. Why stop at 2. If you paint this we'll on all of them you might have like a whole hand full of cookies.
The PVC pipe is such an elegant and out-the-box idea, nice work!
Aaah waaa beautiful dude! Great project
Loved seeing you out there fly fishibg lukas !
It looks amazing ❤great work
Amazing art dude! Very very talented!!
Amazing paint job Lukas !
Really nice paint job Lukas! 😮
PS: I think your plant in studio is not happy.
Very cool repose of one of my favorite minis! Best of luck!
I love a lot of that mini that you’ve done. Maybe it’s the camera that’s washing it out but the skin on the front of the model needs more contrast. It reads very washed out yellow green.
It’s great that you put this video out so that you can get feedback from viewers to tighten it up. Love the light on the one side overall.
Oh no, Lukas discovered my pvc pipe plinth hack !!! 😂 Also I sometimes use bottle caps/lids, or wooden block toys works good too
Great job, Lucas, good luck. Let the golden demon fall into your hands 🤞🤞🤞✊✊✊
First of this is incredible. I hope to do things to this level one day.
With that said and I know you did not ask but this is the internet. I feel in my humble opinion you are missing something from this mini and that is the metal does not feel part of the environment. it looks completely amazing but feels separated from both the mini and the base. I could comply off the mark with this as I'm not a professional painter and you are far more skilled than me. I hope this does well and I look forward to seeing the completed piece.
Nurgle just doesn't do it for me.......But this is freakin worth at least 600 packages of cookies. Lukas, you are an amazing painter. Love the contene boys. Keep it up.
Holy shit, thats just art dude. Incredible job
Amazing painting skills, colorwise though I think the steel parts should be more rusty , particulary for the axe
The way you've positioned his left arm* makes it look like he's saying "Heeeyyyy!"
*pointing outwards rather than clenching downwards, like in the original painting
for those with fewer cookies than Lukas you can use MS paint to colour match similiarly to photoshop, and make a little colour swatch.
That is incredible! You are amazing!
really cool mini. I think it'd be cool if the horn would silhouette more, but I guess that really depends how you're looking at it
Last Step: Mishmash a Magenta Oil Wash over everything, hope for the best and prime it (too early) with glossy Hardware Store Varnish (2 Times - so it does not get damaged - maybe touching it right after that to get some real world grit to the model). Done. Perfect.
Looking awesome already❤ i realy looking forward to see it in real in Essen😊
Absolutely amazing ❤
ANOTHER FLY FISHERMAN!!!!! lol. Man I'd love to fly fish Sweden. I've gone after Tarpon and Snook in Florida and Salmon here in Washington.
Will you guys be at Essen? Will there be a possibilty to meet you?
Why oh why has my brain never thought about that photoshop step!? Thank you Lucas!
Outstanding work, I would genuinely pay for that piece just for paint work and I don't even play the game.
