I have an I idea for a Batman elseworld story where instead of Batman being rich he is poor and his parents die when he was ten so he has to try being Batman on a budget, and Alfred is a ex mia agent who helps him
The first elseworld story I ever read is also my favorite. It was the original version of _Superman Red, Superman Blue_ from the early 1960s. The story has Superman split into two beings, both of them good. Modern readers would likely consider it too honey, but my 8-year-old self loved it.
*"Batman in Nine Lives"* is in my opinion an underrated elseworlds story. It's like two parts Chinatown and one part Batman, so anyone who loves flim noir and Batman should enjoy it. Strongly recommended!

Even better, the recent "World's Funnest" collection packaged this tale with a bunch of key appearances from our two favorite imps, including an arc from "Superman/Batman" which might be even better than the main attraction.

I like the Elseworld line. It made the best annual series. The one I like was Generations. It followed Superman and Batman's friendship through the centuries.

I had so many dumb ideas for alternate Batman stories like: -Batman: Zodiac (Batman vs Zodiac Killer) -The Taxicab Hero (Batman: Taxi Driver) -A Dark Month In Compton (Batman: Gran Torino) -Batman: FOLKPÜNK (Batman: 1920s, Batman: Requiem For A Dream/Pi)
you nailed all my main favs. but i also sometimes catch myself re-reading JLA Created Equal, Batman - the Doom that came to Gotham, and Elseworld's Finest - Supergirl & Batgirl
I loved the two-part Age of Wonder. Essentially, it's the Justice League at the turn of the 20th Century and Clark Kent (called The Superman) is the symbol of a growing Cyberpunk society as he fast-forward's technology ultimately leading to an atomic bomb attack in 1913! The art is a little minimalist (only the close-up characters have fully-realized faces), and the pieces don't entirely fit together -- the series really should have been much longer - but it's a pretty good interpretation of a very different JSA.
I love Elseworlds! I only have a few original copies and three compilations (Superman, Batman & Justice League). But I'd rather have the original issues collected

I love Gotham by Gaslight but I’m also a big fan of it’s follow up: Master of Tomorrow. Both focus on Batman the detective and I wish they’d play up that aspect of him in the movies rather than the screwed up rich kid with nice toys.
My sister lent me her copy of the Kingdom Come graphic novel ages ago and I've never given it back. There's something about that world, and that version of Superman I really like. Also, I just love the art of Alex Ross.
One of my all-time favorite comics is not just an Elseworlds story, but a crossover to boot. It’s “Batman/Tarzan: Claws of the Cat-Woman”. Not only does Bruce Wayne meet John Clayton, the Earl of Greystoke, but there’s cool variations of both Two-Face and Cat-Woman, too, as Batman and Tarzan trek to a lost city in Africa.
Can't believe JSA The Liberty Files didn't get a mention? Not only one of the best elseworlds books, but (in my opinion) one of the best graphic novels out there. But "Bat Lantern" was on the list? Haha
In 1994, DC's anuals were al Elseworlds stories. The best for me were 1) The Legion of Super-Heroes Annnual 5 ("The Long Road Home"), a stoy within the story set in an Oz like world, and 2) "The Super Seven", told in Adventures of Superman Annual 6 and Superboy Annual 1, that featured an Earth invaded by aliens and had some super cool renditions of Batman and Green Lantern (Hal Jordan).

When they bring the late 70's and early 80's stuff from Nick, I will get more excited. I would love to see them include every episode of 'You Can't Do That On TV'! That show is what made Nick what it is today. If it were not for it, we would not have the famous Nickelodeon Green slime and several other series might have never made it to Nick if it hadn't been a hit.
"Batman/Dark Joker: The Wild". It's one of the few Elseworlds stories to show a high fantasy DC universe and has a fairly unorthodox portrayal of the Dark Knight

Hey everyone off topic but what some Green Lantern comics to read. There's so many, and I'm not sure where to start. I've been reading Green Arrow, and I love it. So is Rebirth a good starting point for a new DC reader?
All these stories are worth a read, but I'm most hyped for Gotham by gasand Redson films to watch eventually. If I like the Injustice game then I too will eventually check out the prequel comic. I just wonder if the Joker movie gets a sequel too, and it's adapted from the elseworlds take?!

What was the Elseworlds Annual 2 parter where aliens had enslaved earth & Batman was trying to rally the remaining metas? I think the aliens were holding metropolis & Lois so Superman wouldn't act & Superboy eventually stepped up to fill Superman's shoes.
Another asking this question and it sounds so famillier but i don't have my comic collection on hand, so can't double check BUT... This sounds like the 3 issue Invasion! story from 1989, not part of Elseworlds.
Two Elseworlds Series that are grossly under appreciated -- Super Seven and Legends of the Lost Earth. If they ever did a DC movie of Super Seven, they'd have to buy big rigs in bulk to hold all the cash.
I haven't read the Gotham by Gaslight comic, but the movie was amazing, I'll have to check it out, if they changed the twist then I'll definitely need to read it.

There’s a couple elseworlds comics i would mention, Batman Nosferatu, Batman The Golden Streets of Gotham, and Batman Holy terror.
Vampire Batman is by far the most villainous version of him. The trilogy is a literal bloodbath. Would love to see the trilogy animated.

Hey everyone off topic but what some Green Lantern comics to read. There's so many, and I'm not sure where to start. I've been reading Green Arrow, and I love it. So is Rebirth a good starting point for a new DC reader?
All these stories are worth a read, but I'm most hyped for Gotham by gasand Redson films to watch eventually. If I like the Injustice game then I too will eventually check out the prequel comic. I just wonder if the Joker movie gets a sequel too, and it's adapted from the elseworlds take?!
Red Son is my favorite Superman story, but I love Kingdom Come as a story altogether.
I want some kind of sequel or something related to speeding bullets. It's such a great concept. Superman with the moral outlook and upbringing of batman. And a joker with the intellect and ego of lex Luther. *so much potential*
I have a headcanon that that story exists in an entire universe of mashup heroes and villains like what happened to the world of ‘In Darkest Night.’

What was the Elseworlds Annual 2 parter where aliens had enslaved earth & Batman was trying to rally the remaining metas? I think the aliens were holding metropolis & Lois so Superman wouldn't act & Superboy eventually stepped up to fill Superman's shoes.

This sounds like the 3 issue Invasion! story from 1989, not part of Elseworlds.
Superman Red Son has to be my favorite
Two Elseworlds Series that are grossly under appreciated -- Super Seven and Legends of the Lost Earth. If they ever did a DC movie of Super Seven, they'd have to buy big rigs in bulk to hold all the cash.

I haven't read the Gotham by Gaslight comic, but the movie was amazing, I'll have to check it out, if they changed the twist then I'll definitely need to read it.

Red Son for sure. Injustice should be on the list,, and what about the one shots from Dark Knights Metal???? It has a Batman that gets the lantern ring and shows why that it's not a good thing. And WTF NO FLASHPOINT??
I really like the Earth One stories. If I had to choose which one I like most it'd either be Superman or Green Lantern.
