Lol; That's hilariously ironic, considering that both Jay and Barry are sort of infamous for usually being late for various things in their personal lives, due to their superhero lives. :D
There was one I liked involving Superman's Kryptonian parents coming with him to Earth. I don't recall it's name, but it was an interesting story nonetheless
Are you thinking of "Superman: The Last Family of Krypton"? If I'm remembering correctly, it's a three issue mini-series from 2010 or 2011. And, if this is the one you're thinking of, you're right, it is pretty cool. :)
Kingdom Come is probably my favorite Elseworlds story. There's also JLA:The Nail, JSA: The Golden Age, and the Elseworlds Annual for Superman: The Man of Steel (which involved the entirety of Krypton moving to Earth). There's tons more, but it would take a week to list them all.
A great vid as always, man! Though I'm surprised you didn't bring up Superman: Speeding Bullets. I actually like it a lot! It's about how instead of landing in rural Kansas, Kal-El lands on the grounds of Wayne Manor... and is adopted by Thomas and Martha Wayne... who are eventually shot in Crime Alley. Yes, in this story, Superman BECOMES Batman. It kind of goes off the rails near the end, but for the most part, it's really, really good.
I'm SO glad you mentioned Batman: In Darkest Knight as it's one of my favorite Elseworlds stories. I remember a kid seeing an ad for it in the back of either a Robin or Superboy comic and going to whatever shops I could trying to find it until I eventually forgot it existed. Flash forward a decade or two and I managed to finally find it and it was so worth the wait.
Alternate universe stories have always been one of my favorite parts of comics. I would love to see a sequel to this video especially since there are stories you missed which is understandable given how many elseworld stories have been made.
Dark Joker: The Wild and Batman: Haunted Gotham are both awesome Elseworlds drawn by Kelley Jones. They are both fantasy reimaginings of Batman, but in two completely different settings. Dark Joker's setting is a more traditional fantasy, while Haunted Gotham is a very Gothic urban fantasy.
My favorite elseworlds story is probably Gotham by gaslight I love history and seeing Batman go up against Jack the Ripper was really cool also like how they focused on the detective part of Batman
My favorite Elseworlds story has always been The Nail. Some really good storytelling in that one, always keeping one step ahead of the reader throwing in plot twists and cameos that you'd never expect.
My favorite is JSA: The Liberty Files, but one Drake reminded me of is where Clark Kent is sent to Krypton as a baby, and replaces Tomar Re as their Green Lantern!
I really enjoyed the Superman story "Legacy" from Action Comics Annual vol 1 no. 6. Superman's ancestor Gar-El flees a doomed Krypton, arrives on Earth during the American Revolutionary War and sides with the British Empire.
Do another Elseworlds video! I love it! Two of my favorite Elseworlds comics are Robin 3000, and Batman and Superman: Generations. Do you also have a video on the Marvel What If series?
And I beheld, and heard an Angel saying with a loud voice ‘woe, woe, WOE to the inhabiters of the Earth.’ Powerful doesn’t even begin to describe it. A masterpiece through and through that holds up to this day.
I remember owning the Narrow Path when I was kid before I knew as much about comics as I do now. I lost it years back and didn't remember the name, but now I can look it up. Thanks Comic Drake.
"World's Funnest" might disappoint you, Drake, considering it's basically a book-long fight scene, but I got a huge kick out of it. Y'see, the combatants are Mxyzptlk and Bat-Mite, and their tussle sends them crashing and hurtling through a bunch of iconic DC settings and timelines which are all completely and utterly wrecked in their wake. Half the fun for me was trying to identify where they were, who was watching them, and how many corny in-jokes could the creative team make in sixty-four pages (spoiler: a lot).
“Speeding Bullets” the one where they cross Superman with Batman! That one & “Darkest Knight” which you mentioned are two of my favorites. “Kingdom Come” is of course a huge one.
Batman Thrillkiller is one of my favorites cause it's much more of a Batgirl story than a Batman story. Plus the art is stunning and the costume redesigns are really interesting
Batman: Detective 27 (Bruce Wayne joins a secret society designed to ward off the South from rising again in 1939) Superman/Batman: Generations (A story that takes place over a century that focuses on the personal lives of these heroes)
A few personal picks: Secret Society of Superheroes: What if Earth’s greatest heroes were a living conspiracy? I, Joker: Joker is hunted by a Bat-cult ruling over Gotham, but not all is as it seems. JLA Age of Wonder: What if DC’s greatest heroes arrived at the turn of the century? And finally, Elseworld’s Finest: What if Superman and Batman were pulp heroes?
Y’know what, I got more Elseworlds: Dark Knight Dynasty: The Wayne family vs. Vandal Savage starting in the 14th Century and ending in the 25th. Batman Two Faces and The Superman Monster: Taking place in the same universe and related as 2 stories told by Jim Gordon and Perry White respectively, the former is Batman meets Jekyll and Hyde and the latter is Superman meets Frankenstein’s Monster. Last Family of Krypton: What if the El family all survived Krypton’s destruction? (a premise somewhat repeated in Dark Knights of Steel) Justice Riders: Old West JLA Green Lantern Evil’s Might: Green Lantern in Prohibition.
when you mentioned that the story was your favorite even though the fights are usually my favorite parts I believe that the superhero age of comics aren't big as it used to be and different science fiction or ground stories should be looked into also again you said this twice that the batman being the worlds greatest detective yet his prowess are less shown which I believe that should more front and center comics should be the short story or novella version of graphic novels

I'm really glad something like Elseworlds came to be, answering questions I never thought I would ask. Wonder if Marvel's What if have stories this menorable
AngusJo Yeah which was my point. To add Elseworlds to this list that are no longer Elseworlds only leads to people being misinformed. At bare minimum he should have made a quick mention that some of these are canon now and which Earth number they are.
I really like Justice League: Riddle of the Beast. It's your favorite DC characters as if imagined by J.R.R. Tolkien. The art is crazy and the story is fun. Highly recommend if you haven't heard of this Elseworlds tale.
Gotta give a shout out to The Nail (which also had a sequel). Great books about Kal-El being raised by Amish people and showing a Justice League without Superman.
1:47 a mi me encanto batman gaslight ya que sigue la formula exacta del detective enmascarado contra el asesino mas conocido de todos los tiempos el cual al final da una sorpresa de magnitudes biblicas quien estaba detras de eso. altamente recomendable.
I remember when I was in fourth grade I rented out the nail from the public library and despite it being one of my first exposures to DC comics on the whole I understood it remarkably well although rereading it recently the only thing I remembered was the poem at the beginning
If Elseworlds is DC stories out of main canon, then would Watchmen count as one, but of the ones you talked about, Gotham By Gaslight is my personal favorite, one of my favorite things to talk about in history is Jack The Ripper, and to see Batman take him on was awesome
Great story with awesome art; I'm a little surprised it didn't make Drake's list for this vid... Also, if you like the story, they made a second Elseworlds mini-series set in the ThrillKiller universe, titled "Batgirl and Batman: Thrillkiller '62", and both stories were popular enough that they even made action figures of Thrillkiller characters.
Can We Mention The One Where Superman Became Mowgli? And The One Where Superman And Tarzan Switched Places? (don't remember if this was labelled elseworlds but still)
Those were awesome, I was watching on a smart TV, but I got up, even though I was comfy, to go to my phone, and let you know you did a good job. Those were fun, what you do is important

What about Superman True Brit, that’s a great, really fun story about Superman landing in the UK and being brought up as Colin Kemp in the English countryside. Written by none other than John Cleese. It’s definitely worth the read and vastly underrated.
There should've been an Elseworlds Story on Supergirl IF She Landed In Thymiscria and was trained as an Amazonian Warrior gaining the powers of the Amazon while all still being a Kryptonian.
I want to collect all Elseworlds issues, I've got some original issues, some reprinted issues and some softbound compilations (Elseworlds:Superman,Elseworlds:Justice League and Elseworlds:Batman). I still crave for the original issues, though.
The only two Elseworlds comics I have are crossovers. Batman & Captain America and Superman: War Of The Worlds. Yes, that War Of The Worlds, featuring the Golden Age flightless Superman.
I love the concept of Elseworlds. There are lots of great stories but I think my favourite one is Son of Superman. Also I don't know if The Last Family of Krypton counts as an Elseworlds but I love that one too.
I always loved Superman inc, the book were he was adopted by the suddermens and become a sports star i thought it was a interesting dive Into his personality
I really like the flash and robin Elseworlds I've got to find those. Some of my favorites are Batman holy terror, Batman thrill-killer, superman batman generations, JLA the nail, JSA the liberty file, green lanterns evils might. the batman Dracula trilogy.
My favorite else world story is the vampire batman stories because it shows that dc comics were not pulling punches in the 3 stories with dark violence, gory and sexualized and I mean they do all that plus since I love the batman vs Dracula animated film hopefully it will get a reboot into blood rain, blood storm and crimson mist plus batman's last vampire look in crimson mist is just chilling to the bone
One Elseworlds book which was my favorite was JSA:The Golden Age.Which was a great commentary about WW II paranoia,The Red Scare/Communism,and the changing social culture of America in the 1940s and it made Amazing Use of Ultra-Humanite and no one would've ever thought of transferring the Brain of Adolf Hitler into of alla Heroes Dan The Dyna-Mite(who was an Atomic Allegory for Superman)that was really legit Scary in my mind. And the Art was Gorgeous !
Why can’t DC commit to a zombie thing? Deceased is there but it feels have hearted and meh IN MY OPINION. It had some good moments but felt have there, wish DC would take another crack at it.
The end of Red son is indeed odd. Cause reduces some humanity to it, you can argue someway fits between the topics of the story but is way too syfy (yes a story with a man that flies but...)for the things it mentions and brings on for conversation. Kinda cool the animated adaptation ends without that.
Last time I was this early Jay Garrick was still flash
T.J. SnackAttack Last time I came this early, I was grinding on pubg.
He is though just not in he main universe ... or in print anymore
ARE YOU TOO SOON? YOU'RE TOO SOON!
Lol; That's hilariously ironic, considering that both Jay and Barry are sort of infamous for usually being late for various things in their personal lives, due to their superhero lives. :D
Wow
I liked the Elseworld Speeding Bullets. Where Superman takes up the identity of the Dark Knight.
i have a copy of that. its one of my favorites. that and the one where batman was leonardo da vinci's apprentice
Ikr it was awesome
My favorite elseworlds stories are Batman and Superman: Generations, Superman: Red Sun, JLA: The Nail, and Kingdom Come.
Never heard of this one, definitely want to check it out. Thanks!
Could it be the medieval knights run?
I like Superman: The Dark Side. Instead of landing in Smallville, Kal El's craft lands on Apokolips and he's raised by Darkseid.
I truly believe a Kingdom Come adaptation can be achieved if we used the Spider Verse animation to replicate Alex Ross' art
That would be awesome.
@@chaihill1837 I second that
If you pause on the exact begining of the video the result is amazing
Kingdom Come is probably my favorite Elseworlds story. There's also JLA:The Nail, JSA: The Golden Age, and the Elseworlds Annual for Superman: The Man of Steel (which involved the entirety of Krypton moving to Earth). There's tons more, but it would take a week to list them all.
blackphoenix77 KC has beautiful art

9:05 very....Samuraized...HA
I will find myself out
Also do you think it is possible for a modern day Marvel/ DC crossover event?
M.D. V Disney either owns you or doesn’t play with you
Rhett M what about kingdom hearts
The One Above All and The Writer meet up at a bar and decide to fuse their creations for a few days for the hell of it
Anything is possible. Probable though is something different.
Possible. But highly unlikely.
I'm a big fan of the Elseworlds story Batman: Castle of The Bat. I really like the art, and the story is an awesome send up to Frankenstein.
I just wanted to leave a comment because I know it helps.
Kingdom Come... Beautiful art, great story!
Fun fact: Sepuku is actually an elaborate ritual, involving multiple people and ceremonial sake. So tengu didnt commit sepuku, he just killed himself
You should talk about marvel noir stories that take place in the 1930s. They are interesting personally.
Yeah punisher, Spiderman and iron Man noir are cool
Superman: At Earth's End. Obviously. Santa Clark with a giant gun fighting twin Hitlers.
OF COURSE, DON'T YOU KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT SCIENCE?
I AM A MAN! ‘punches wall’ This is a good comic to find meme formats in.
DOOM THAT CAME TO GOTHAM.
Mike Mignola doing batman. Cuthulu mythos meets the batman mythos.. it is awesome.
My favorite Elseworlds story has always been The Nail. Some really good storytelling in that one, always keeping one step ahead of the reader throwing in plot twists and cameos that you'd never expect.

I really enjoyed the Superman story "Legacy" from Action Comics Annual vol 1 no. 6. Superman's ancestor Gar-El flees a doomed Krypton, arrives on Earth during the American Revolutionary War and sides with the British Empire.
Oh, it was Action Comics? I thought it was MOS
Yeah! I have this comic and also the Suderman one, where he is like a sports superstar, its wierd.
Gotham By Gaslight is awesome!
Kingdom Come is by far my favorite comic
I just wanna mention real quick that, on the DC comics app, Superman: Distant Fires has a 4.5 star rating. coughLinkaracough
Is that out of ten, because that story still really sucks.
@@AkutomiNamikaze It is not.
One of my absolute favorite short Elseworlds books was The Nail. It's kind of a study in chaos theory, superhero style.
"So, you know how the earth rotates?"
*Flat earthers left the chat*
Red Son, JLA: The Nail, Batman Holy Terror, and Kingdom Come are my personal favorites.
Do another Elseworlds video! I love it! Two of my favorite Elseworlds comics are Robin 3000, and Batman and Superman: Generations. Do you also have a video on the Marvel What If series?
The Blue, the Gray and the Bat is an interesting take on Batman during the American Civil War.
Loved the video. Best Marvel What Ifs would be fun
Kingdom Come is masterful. The big, shocking image (you'll know it when you read it) is one of the most powerful images in all of comics.
And I beheld, and heard an Angel saying with a loud voice ‘woe, woe, WOE to the inhabiters of the Earth.’
Powerful doesn’t even begin to describe it. A masterpiece through and through that holds up to this day.
Kingdom Come blew me away.... so much beauty in a book
I remember owning the Narrow Path when I was kid before I knew as much about comics as I do now. I lost it years back and didn't remember the name, but now I can look it up. Thanks Comic Drake.
Kingdom Come is my favorite comic of all time. I've re read it so many times
USSR theme shouldve played when he was talking about red son superman
"World's Funnest" might disappoint you, Drake, considering it's basically a book-long fight scene, but I got a huge kick out of it. The Storyboard page?
Totally agree with u on ur standpoint in dialogue vs fights in comic books. Love the 90s Robin because of that fact,
Is new frontier branded as elseworlds? Its always been one of my favorite comics
I want to say it is, but I'm not 100% sure
I know its non-canon, but I'm pretty sure its not branded as Elseworlds either.
It’s an Elseworld, and one of the all-time greats at that.
“Speeding Bullets” the one where they cross Superman with Batman! That one & “Darkest Knight” which you mentioned are two of my favorites. “Kingdom Come” is of course a huge one.
Superman: Kal is a one shot if Superman landed in pre-Arthurian England, and of course has its own versions of Lex and Lois. I thought it was cool.
Batman Thrillkiller is one of my favorites cause it's much more of a Batgirl story than a Batman story. Plus the art is stunning and the costume redesigns are really interesting
Is this how Haedox (Paul) will look like in a few years?
Batman: Detective 27 (Bruce Wayne joins a secret society designed to ward off the South from rising again in 1939)
Superman/Batman: Generations (A story that takes place over a century that focuses on the personal lives of these heroes)
Also Elseworlds Man of Steel Annual #6 (Superman's ancestor Gar-El lands in England in 1776 altering the course of history)
Haven't watched it yet but just saying Superman Red Son is the best comic ever
My favorite was when Clark grew up to be a professional athlete and had mentally blocked his powers.
A few personal picks:
Secret Society of Superheroes: What if Earth’s greatest heroes were a living conspiracy?
I, Joker: Joker is hunted by a Bat-cult ruling over Gotham, but not all is as it seems.
JLA Age of Wonder: What if DC’s greatest heroes arrived at the turn of the century?
And finally, Elseworld’s Finest: What if Superman and Batman were pulp heroes?

Last Family of Krypton: What if the El family all survived Krypton’s destruction? (a premise somewhat repeated in Dark Knights of Steel)
Justice Riders: Old West JLA
Green Lantern Evil’s Might: Green Lantern in Prohibition.
I agree, action scenes rarely work in non-motion mediums.
nice to hear about the classics and some new stuff good video

I'm really glad something like Elseworlds came to be, answering questions I never thought I would ask.
Wonder if Marvel's What if have stories this menorable
I suggest what if dazzler had been a herald of galactus
Why do i feel like the Batman in darkest night ties to Dawnbreaker from Metal?
Probably the inspiration. Heck, Dawnbreaker comes from Earth -32, and Earth 32 is the world of that very story.
Not shore if it has the elseworlds branding but I like nightwing the new order
i love gotham by gaslight something about it just gets me XD
There's a movie adaptation
I think in terms of raw absurdity you might enjoy the Green Lantern: 1001 Emerald Nights. It is quite a thing.
Isn’t Red Son officially in the main multiverse now?
DC has decided the early 2000s to include the most popular Elseworld stories as a parallel universe in the main Continuity.
AngusJo Yeah which was my point. To add Elseworlds to this list that are no longer Elseworlds only leads to people being misinformed. At bare minimum he should have made a quick mention that some of these are canon now and which Earth number they are.
Earth-30 to be exact. In fact, most of the more famous Elseworlds all got in the multiverse map. There’s Earths 18, 19, 21, and 22 just to name a few.
I really like Justice League: Riddle of the Beast. It's your favorite DC characters as if imagined by J.R.R. Tolkien. The art is crazy and the story is fun. Highly recommend if you haven't heard of this Elseworlds tale.

DC's Elseworld comics are basically their version of Marvel's What If comics
I just bought an elseworld I never heard of called Batman Thrill Killer. Have u heard of it?

My personal favorite Elseworlds story is Superman: Speeding Bullets

The else worlds have some great artwork they look relatively similar but they’re so cool
The Nail by Alan Davis.

I thought he was Kent Clark?
So Elseworlds are basically the DC equivalent of "What if", Cool
Yup.
Is “Dark Knights of Steel” a else world story?
so he finds evidence to clear his name, and when he finds a lead, he just casually leaves the prison. Wow.
What about The Dark Night Returns? That's like the biggest one.
There should've been an Elseworlds Story on Supergirl IF She Landed In Thymiscria and was trained as an Amazonian Warrior gaining the powers of the Amazon while all still being a Kryptonian.
There's one where she was raised and trained by WW and there's no Superman. How's that?

Gaslight Batman vs Noir Spiderman
