    I’ve been vegan for over 40 years. Until very recently, I deprived myself of delicious nutritious meals . in the early days. There was very little offered in terms of recipes and in finding particular food items. Now, with so many young people taking veganism and vegetarianism up it has rejuvenated my interest in eating better more delicious foods.

      Not vegan, but I’m 70 and my ed has plagued me my whole life. It’s not an active disorder now but wow, I still have it in my brain when I eat anything that I think is too much or something not right. Not the best comment for any young girls struggling. But I love that this topic and illness is more talked about and visible. Thanks Maddie for being so open. It surely helps. ❤️❤️

    I’ve been watching Maddie for years and I love her videos, but I’m so over seeing influencers spruiking various supplements, Ag1 being one of them. Many of these supplements are costly and out of the reach of ordinary people, and in my opinion at least, unnecessary for good health if you are eating a healthy diet.

    This positive message is so important. Also important is that people with digestive issues should restrict ultra-processed foods (which all hurt our gut microbiota) and that often I am forced to restrict my diet massively even healthy foods. There are a lot of people in this camp. 20:80 feels good to you in the context of your very healthy 80% of your diet and embracing anti-restriction, which I totally applaud, but that is way to high for many many people, could be everyone. I do think stress is worse in it's affect on the gut than some UPF food, but also that those foods are conducive to stress, though I think the deep stress from past trauma has the bigggest impact. I have had a farcically complex relationship with food because of autoimmune health problems (vegan for over 20 years, I love food massively) and every road leads back to diversity of real plant foods. Love you Maddie and all that you do X

I've been vegan for 8 years and I like to make chickpea omelette too, it looks like a meal we eat in the south of France, the "socca", I use some soy milk instead of water to add more proteins and nutrients, and I sometimes add some tofu and vegan cheese inside, it makes a really high protein meal 😋

    Love the way you express your thoughts around balanced nutrition and developing a healthy relationship with food, whether vegan or not. I’m not a strict vegan but I’d say I eat predominantly plant-based and overlap with most of the items on your daily list. I’d add whole grains (usually oatmeal) and legumes (lentils are probably my favorite, chickpeas a close second) to the list. After blood work showing low ferritin levels, I also supplement with a low dose of iron everyday.

    Seconded re. tofu, it’s literally a fermented soy bean product so it’s no more processed than a basic cheese. The ingredients are just soybeans and water.

    I'm so sad that I have acid reflux and can't digest foods like beans, onions, tomatoes, chickpeas and garlic etc. And on top of that, I just found out I'm allergic to soy so no more tofu for me 😢 I used to eat very plant based, but since I started having acid reflux and digestion problems, I had to start eating more animal products cause they are easier to digest. I don't know what's wrong with my digestion, I try to eat healthy but it's just not working. Does anyone have any tips/advice for me?

    As far as motiviation goes... there are no all vegan restaurants where I live other than an amazing falafel place. As a chef and food lover (spoiled by my amazing dad no longer with us) I grew up thinking that you always eat better at home. Italians eat that way. I am never satisfied eating out. The ratios (of cooked/raw/protein/carbs/fats)are always wrong and I have to eat something else when I get home. Get a vegan foodie in you household or learn how to cook ! Much Love Peace from Upstate NY :)

    Hi maddie, I really love your content and you are such an inspiration for many! ❤ I only disagree that oil is good and has been eating for so many years doesn’t make it good/ healthy and is still an ultra processed food, especially when it’s heated to high temperatures. For example Olives are healthy I totally agree but to isolate the oil makes it a not natural healthy food, I’m not saying it to criticise you. I only want to say be thoughtful what you promote to such a big audience when saying these things when you don’t know what it does to the human body in the long run that’s all🙂

    • @MadeleineOlivia
      @MadeleineOlivia  หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      But we do know what it does to the human body in the long run! It’s probably one of the most highly studied foods in the world.
      Here is a consensus: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6770785/
      “The Mediterranean diet is considered as the foremost dietary regimen and its adoption is associated with the prevention of degenerative diseases and an extended longevity. The preeminent features of the Mediterranean diet have been agreed upon and the consumption of olive oil stands out as the most peculiar one. Indeed, the use of olive oil as the nearly exclusive dietary fat is what mostly characterizes the Mediterranean area. Plenty of epidemiological studies have correlated that the consumption of olive oil was associated with better overall health. Indeed, extra virgin olive oil contains (poly)phenolic compounds that are being actively investigated for their purported biological and pharma-nutritional properties. On 18 and 19 May 2018, several experts convened in Jaen (Spain) to discuss the most recent research on the benefits of olive oil and its components. We reported a summary of that meeting (reviewing several topics related to olive oil, not limited to health) and concluded that substantial evidence is accruing to support the widespread opinion that extra virgin olive oil should, indeed, be the fat of choice when it comes to human health and sustainable agronomy.”

    • @MadeleineOlivia
      @MadeleineOlivia  หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      www.health.harvard.edu/nutrition/is-extra-virgin-olive-oil-extra-healthy
      “Regardless of the type, olive oil is high in monounsaturated fatty acids, containing about 75% by volume. When substituted for saturated fat, monounsaturated fats help lower your "bad" LDL cholesterol. The health benefits of olive oil have been attributed to its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. In fact, observational studies have shown a link between lower risks of cardiovascular disease, some cancers, and even dementia in people who consume higher amounts of olive oil than those who use little or none.”

    • @LanaLentil
      @LanaLentil หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@MadeleineOlivia I understand your point of view but have you ever heard of the nutritarian diet by dr.joel furman? He is plant based himself and has a total opposite point of view when it comes to oil, salt, sugar and other highly processed foods, shown with many studies as well! The Mediterranean diet is not a plantbased one and virgin oil is not meant to be heated to high temperatures. I’m totally okay if we disagree on this topic as we both have found studies that prove otherwise! I want you to know that I love your content and will continue to follow your journey 🧡 much love to you!
