Many people reject the gospel. Those who reject God's grace are not saved. What we can not determine is whether or not the Holy Spirit witnessed to those who reject the gospel of grace. I know from personal experience that I ran from God for a long time even though the Holy Spirit convicted me of my sin. Eventually I came to the end of myself and surrendered to God . I don't know if there are those like me who never repented or not.

This is why I watch this channel! You have basic humility. You like me have been broken to the point of understanding the importance of the Word of God and even better that it is BECAUSE of God we were saved in the first place. The Lord pursued me. He gets ALL of the glory for my salvation. I have read the Bible completely through 3xs now. I wake up early every morning to read first thing. I have a longing to know and please Him. This is NOT in my own strength. I was an Atheists. I wasn't anywhere near a church when I was saved. I had a little church background from occasionally attending different churches with friends growing up and once a year with my grandparents. I knew nothing about the Lord. I lost my faith when I was 14. I kept it secret for years. He saved me on my job 3 days after my 30th birthday. Hallelujah. A co-worker prayed with me (I didn't know she was a missionary) I changed that very minute. I was filled with joy! Everything looked different. I was excited and thirsty to learn more. My eagerness was the Holy Spirit! Reading the Word feeds your Spirit. I do nothing good or holy on my own. I only persist because The Lord let me break first. God is in control. Do not fool yourself. We are like 2 year olds without supervision on our own. We are "Can't get right" if you all remember that. I will NEVER take any credit for any good I do. I am just blessed God chose to show me mercy and I am forever in His debt. I am unworthy. Period.

We have a real choice to make. It's either life or death...but the problem is that we will never choose life unless we first hear the Word of God which cuts to the heart and brings faith to choose (HEB 4, Rom 10, Deut 31) --- the Gospel preached, the Word of God is the power and grace that enables us to beleive which is why God sends us out as preachers. This is why Jesus went and preached the gospel to the saints in Abraham's bosom who died in faith.
If God never gave his powerful Word which brings faith and enables us to choose, we would never be able to attain salvation, it would be forever out of reach.
Did I choose life that I may live? Absolutely! But I never would have been able to choose without God first sending his Word which cuts to the heart, convicts of sin and shows me the need of a savior. And for that, I am eternally grateful. God's word is powerful enough to cut to the heart of the worst sinner imaginable. But of course we see in HEB 4, that many will be cut to the heart and have the opportunity to beleive, but like Israel, they will rebel against what they know is true and be hardened by sin.

@@jalapeno.tabasco idk, but does that matter? I'm not concerned with God's plan of salvation being fair for everyone.
If God is the one who enables people to choose life or death through the power of His word preached, then He gets the glory.
Actually I do know why...Romans 1 teaches it.
      Romans 1:18
      God's Wrath on Unrighteousness
For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness,
Romans 1:19-21 because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened.
Paul says the difference is that some suppress the truth by their unrighteousness. The word of God preached reveals the truth but some still decide to continue in sin a d becomes hardened and decieved.

Hes just another calvinist who pretends not to be a Calvinist, to better overcome the resistance non-Calvinists have toward Calvinsm. His arguments are like a juggler, juggling a couple of balls between his two hands, yet keeping silent about all the Biblical truths there are besides those two juggling balls, the dialectical conclusions he's acting like are all there are. He pushes lots of non sequiturs, but does so in a folksy, "soul-ful", "Amen?" way, which means you'd better not disagree with the "man of God", whom we allow to do all our thinking for us! I defended him quite a bit on the accusations of the money issue, but I'm not going to "amen" his non sequiturs.
_Non sequitur_ means "it does not follow". If the Bible tells us things that _do not follow,_ or agree with those non sequiturs, do not give them an "amen!", even though he subtly uses emotion and cultural identification to coerce you to agree. The truth of scripture is too important, and the lies against the truth are too damaging. We are to bring down "strongholds" that "exalt themselves against the knowledge of God", not uphold them, just to flatter men, and get along with the church people.

We have choices but God requires us to make right fair and just decisions. God, Holy Spirit, discipline, and self-control we can change. We have to make decisions and we have a part in it, to change our lifestyle and walk with God. We just cannot think God and Holy Spirit is just going to change you. For example we have resist the devil. It doesn't say the Holy Spirit its says you have to. Discipline and self-control are part of God's spirit it is a choose to enforce them in our lives. So no one can brag but it is still God's spirit to enforce them. Again we have to choose to follow or not. Always remember when God commands something it is meant to be done. Its is not wait until the Holy Spirit take it away. He means do it now remember John 14:15 If you love me, keep my commands. We have workout our salvation which its work we have to do too. So those who received his word were baptized, and there were added that day 3000 souls." v47 " And the Lord added to ....those who were being saved." Doing what Jesus said is being saved by faith and according to Romans 3:27 boasting is excluded through the LAW OF FAITH. Baptism is a part of the law of faith, look at Col 2:12 "you were buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised WITH HIM THROUGH FAITH IN THE WORKING OF GOD". Gal 3:26-27 " For in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God through faith. For as many of you AS WERE BAPTIZED INTO CHRIST HAVE PUT ON CHRIST". Yes, saved by faith, an obedient faith and saved by faith when we are baptized into Christ. Only in the sense that Peter told the Jews in the audience on the day of Pentecost to *"save yourselves from this untoward generation!"* Those who received Jesus's through faith on that day: were they boasting? Were they proud? Were they "their own saviors"? Those who were saved on the day of Pentecost were proud of themselves, because they "save(d) themselves from this untoward generation"? What did Peter (filled with the Holy Spirit!) mean by "save yourselves"? Was it not simply that they *avail themselves of the gift of God Jesus gave them,* when He let them put Him to death?
One thing they were not was "their own saviors". I bet that no one who obeyed Peter and got saved through faith in Jesus thought he or she were "their own saviors".
The false boast that we can decree things has exactly zero to do with the fact that receiving or rejecting the gospel is gicen to us, and therefore, we are rightly held accountable for it. This has nothing to do with pride. The publican was certainly not prideful as he begged God to be merciful to him, a sinner. Yet Jesus gives him credit for the fact that his true self-humbling, and true contrition, are why he went home forgiven. But to hear Calvinists tell it, they would condemn the man of self-righteousness, since it was what he did in relation to the conviction of the Holy Spirit that met God's requirement for forgiving him. See, God brought both the conviction of his sin, the ability to believe, according to that conviction, and the persuasion of Bible verses that told him that *God is gracious and there is mercy in Him,* and that reasoned with him *to turn to Him,* and *though his sins were as scarlet, they would be white as wool..Though they be red like crimson, they would be white as snow.*
In John 3, Jesus said *"And this is the condemnation, that light has come into the world, and MEN preferred darkness because their deeds were evil."* Contrary to the trend to ignore the words of Jesus as not theological enough, as though His words are meaningless or untrue, I believe I will continue to look to Him for His wisdom, and ignore the words of theologians and theology geeks (full of their own "smartness") who ignore Him or make Him a liar.

@@jalapeno.tabasco Ezekiel (and it is God, _through_ Ezekiel) is talking about the same salvation we receive, but he is talking to the Jews, when He gathers them from out of the world, and they believe. So some of it applies to salvation, but some of it applies to God gatherig the Jews back.
Ezekiel 23 And I will sanctify my great name, which was profaned among the heathen, which ye have profaned in the midst of them; and the heathen shall know that I am the LORD, saith the Lord GOD, when I shall be sanctified in you before their eyes.
24 For I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land.
25 Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you.
26 A new heart also I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.
27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.
28 And ye shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; and ye shall be my people, and I will be your God.
What i probably disagree with you about is that yes, God can do those things, yet not acting irresistibly to force some people to be given a new heart, yet pteventing others from getting a nrw heart. If you simply leave out everything God's word says that states or implies that we are rightfully held accountable for our responses to the word and the Holy Spirit, you might think that a "monergistic" understanding is correct. But in order to come to that conclusion, you have to deafen yourself to all the scripture that states or implies otherwise. Then, God just pushing His way through monergistically, caring not at all about most people, but giving a few an illusion of grave, consequential choice and responsibility, that would sound pious, because you're bowing to God's strength and power, although abandoning the cause of His righteousness and truth. But all "gods", including Baal and Marduk, have strength and power and act sovereignly, according to their narratives. But our God is different from the other gods. When He makes a truth statement or a promise, He's just as sovereign in that being what He wamts to say, and is saying, in His eternal, unchanging word, as anything else He does. And He values His word above His own name! . When He spoke something that contradicts "monergism" (a humanly devised abstraction, NOT a bible doctrine!), it was Him exercising His sovereinty, too, and again, He does teach moral responsibility; He does not teach monergism in the Bible. That came from theologians, not from the Bible.
God can "do all His pleasure", everything it is His pleasure to do, YET He does not take pleasure in a lot of things that happen. That HAS to mean that everything that happens was not instigated, inspired, tempted, done or decreed by Him, because otherwise, He'd be a liar, and He cannot lie. See, beware of theology that subtly suggests that God can be a liar, or create moral evil, because it was "His pleasure" to do so. There are quite a few things that God says He will not do, and saying thst He can do anythijg Hw bloody well chooses to do, doesnt change that, because we have it in His eternal word, which Jesus said would never pass away, that He will never choose to do those things. There is a subtle turning away from Gods truth and righteousness in favor of mere brute strength. Lots of false gods and lying spirits have strength and pretend "sovereignty", with which to oppress and trap people in lies. Beware any other God. Sadly, many of the online bible teachers have no particilar love for Gods truth, righteousness and holiness. They are pretty much about tearing down the truth of God, to get people to move on to the new religion.

You need to back up and read the passage that leads into this verse, rather than just ripping it out of context. Prior to this, we see that Paul and Barnabus had first preached to the Jews, but then presented the gospel to the Gentiles and many of the Gentiles were saved. But then the Jews came along behind Paul and Barnabus and tried to make the case that these people couldn't be saved because they weren't Jews. But Paul and Barnabus argued that the Gentiles could be saved. So, when we get to verse 48, "those appointed to eternal life" are people who had already put their faith in Jesus and what they are believing is what Paul and Barnabus said to counter what the Jews were saying.
I know you don't consider yourself to be a Calvinist, but you are making the same mistake that Calvinist make by equating belief with salvation. Not every use of the word "believe" is talking about belief unto salvation. Verse 48 is an example of this. It is a simple, ordinary use of the word "believe", but it is being done by people who were already saved (ordained unto eternal life).

I am not a Calvinist though I agree with them on some points. I hold to a Literal Grammatical Historical hermeneutic. Here is how that hermeneutic works with this passage. ἐπίστευσαν ὅσοι ἦσαν τεταγμένοι εἰς ζωὴν αἰώνιον· They believed - as many as those who "WERE APPOINTED TO LIFE ETERNAL". You missed the entirety of the verse. Your disdain for election blinds you. τεταγμένοι εἰς ζωὴν αἰώνιο this literally says "they had been appointed (by God) for eternal life. That's the point. even irrespective of believing (which they did and it certainly was in regards to salvation). The greek is crystal clear here

    • @TimothyFish
      @TimothyFish 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@smartchristians, you missed the whole passage. Yes, these people "were appointed to life eternal," but the issue is that you think what they are believing in verse 48 is belief associated with salvation. When you back up and look at the events that lead up to verse 48, they had already had an opportunity to believe unto salvation, before there was this dispute between the Jews and Paul and Barnabus. So, if they were already believers (in Jesus Christ) at this point, it wouldn't be odd to call them "those who were appointed to life eternal" but at the same time, they were either going to believe what the Jews were saying or what Paul and Barnabus were saying about the salvation that they had already received. The statement that "they believed" is simply saying that they accepted what Paul and Barnabus were teaching.

You are not paying attention. There is a reason I gave you the greek. It is irrefutable. Even if you were correct about believing (which according to the greek, you are not) But the question is What were they appointed to by God? Eternal life. And since this is in the perfect tense in Greek, then clearly this appointing was prior . The fact is They were appointed to eternal life by God and not by their belief. Please deal with the greek.

    • @TimothyFish
      @TimothyFish 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@smartchristians, I don't disagree with you on the Greek. I agree completely that God is the one who appoints people to eternal life. Where I disagree with you is in your thinking that the word "believe" in verse 48 puts the order of salvation as appointing by God and then belief unto salvation. I think we see the belief unto salvation in verse 44. But the Jews were upset because "the crowds" were Gentiles. It may not be all of these crowds who had already believed, so that's probably why Luke used the phrase "those who were appointed unto eternal life." If he were writing today, he probably would've used the phrase, "those who were saved." What they believed was the statement about being sent to the Gentiles. No one believes that believing that statement is "saving faith." It appears to me that Luke's reference to some of these people as "those who were appointed unto eternal life" gives us evidence that they had already believed when they gathered as a crowd.

John 3 is contrasting physical birth with spiritual birth, so it is likely that, in John 3:5, Jesus is emphasizing that it isn't sufficient to be born through a physical birth (of water) but one must also be born of a spiritual birth (born again). Of course, the difficulty with that interpretation is that we don't have a clear secondary example of it being used in that way. Jesus could have easily have said, "a man must be baptized and filled with the Spirit," but that's not what he said. He says, "except a man be born..." and then he talks about what appears to be two kinds of birth. But he's already talking about two kinds of birth (being born physically and born again spiritually). If he is only talking about two kinds of birth, then it fits that water birth is physical birth. Given that a woman's water breaks when she gives birth, it fits. If that isn't the case, then it makes it seem like he's talking about three or four kinds of birth, none of which are made clear, or he is involving a physical action in something that is spiritual, which doesn't make sense. Before the foundation of the world God knew who would accept but mankind has to personally accept what He did for them personally. Why would the scriptures say God is preaching to even those who won’t accept Him if they didn’t have a choice to do so? Yes God has done everything but man has to do two things. Believe and place that faith in that belief. That’s why it’s a free gift of salvation. He knocks on the door of your heart and you choose to open the door and He presents His free gift of salvation to you and by faith and believing you accept it then He closes and locks the door behind Him permanently sealed with His Spirit as a guarantee of eternal salvation eternal life. Through the apostle John in Revelation 2-3, Jesus addressed seven letters to seven churches in Asia Minor. They were individualized letters of instruction, rebuke, and encouragement to the local congregations. To the last church, the lukewarm church in Laodicea, Jesus made this urgent plea: “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me” (Revelation 3:20). The idea of Jesus standing at a door and knocking is often used as an illustration of Jesus’ offer of salvation to individuals: if you would only “open your heart’s door” and let Jesus into your life, all will be well. But in Revelation 3:20, Jesus is not pleading with an individual to be saved; He’s seeking admittance to a church! It’s alarming to think of Jesus standing outside of the church and knocking, but that’s the position He was in. The Laodicean church had shut the door on the Head of the church; they were smug in their prosperity, but Jesus was left standing in the cold. He was an outsider to the hearts of the entire congregation.

@@driver26swx31 that’s error because the true church is His body of believers all over the world past present and future. God did not come to form the following; church buildings church religion because He already had a form of religion called what? What did that make there followers? So why do you think God wanted that in the new covenant testament will? Man started buildings to what? Control and keep people under bondage. Christ didn’t come to form any religion. He came to restore the relationship back with His creation. Good grief as smart as y’all keep telling me you are just what does the word “religion” mean? Look it up. In the early days there were no buildings like today. Don’t you read the scriptures? They met in homes in fields openly daily growing in the truth. we know that jesus is the judge those who do good with those who do evil ... it is all over the gospels and in revelation ... those who do good are righteous and those who do evil are sinners ... and the sinner are the one that serve satan unless he turn from his sin into righteousness ... i am not the one saying that ... jesus is the one saying that in the gospels ... but if you want to believe that you can continual to sin and still be save then you are saying that you know more than jesus and then god ... just read the gospels ... jesus forgave the adulteress and then told her not to sin ... because those who sin serve the devil ... and many more example in the gospels ... we are not boasting if and when we do good because it is a command from god ... that command is love your neighbor as your self ... how do you love your neighbor ... by doing good and avoiding to do evil to him ... and that is how you love god with your heart ... or is the translation of the bible wrong?

You can choose God and still go to hell.
You can choose God and go to heaven.
A way that’s seems right to man ends in death.Repent he is coming!

If people don't have the ability to make a decision, then is God being disingenuous when He commands men to "choose ye this day whom you will serve"? To "choose life"? God COMMANDS all men everywhere to repent. If God commands the choice upon all, but only empowers the choice for some, then I sense an incoherence. You sound like a 5-point Calvinist - and Calvinism has no Gospel, no "good news of glad tidings that shall be to ALL people".
And absolutely no one who made a decision to repent and believe in Christ claims that they "saved themselves".

Why does God the Father call Jesus GOD.
    New International Version
But about the Son he says, “Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever; a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom.
    Berean Standard Bible
And from His mouth proceeds a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations, and He will rule them with an iron scepter. He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God the Almighty.
    King James Bible
I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come,
    (THE Almighty)
    King James Bible
(I am he that liveth, and was dead;) and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.
    King James Bible
Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book.
    King James Bible
He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.
    King James Bible
And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.
    JESUS IS THE ALMIGHTY.
ALL THE PROPHECIES EVER SINCE THE BOOK OF GENESIS HAVE BEEN FULFILLED.
The bible says that the word became a man. (FLESH)
    New International Version
Therefore, when Christ came into the world, he said: “Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, (but a body you prepared for me;)
In other words before Jesus took on human nature, ( flesh).
What was he? John 1:14 = GOD became man.
HE WAS GOD, ONE MEMBER OF THE TRIUNE GODHEAD. BECAUSE GOD EXISTS IN 3 FATHER, SON, AND HOLYSPIRIT.
So before Jesus took on flesh HE was one with THE FATHER.
Sharing the glory with THE FATHER , SELF EXISTING WITH THE FATHER IN TOTAL HARMONY, AND IN PERFECT UNION.
THE bible says THE WORD took on the form of a servant .
    New International Version philippians 2:7
rather, HE made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.
In order to take on the role of a servant,
HE could not have been a servant.
JESUS was not a servant until HE took
On flesh, HE existed before HE took on flesh, but he wasn't a servant.HE IS God just Like the FATHER and just like the HOLYSPIRIT
JESUS said if you don't believe me, believe the works the miracles THAT I DONE.
    New International Version john 10:38
But if I do them, even though you do not believe me, believe the works, that you may know and understand that the FATHER is in me, and I in the FATHER.”
It is very clear that Jesus was doing the things, That only God can do.
If doing the things that only God can do
Is not good enough for someone to believe, they must be blind.
What more can you possibly want HE lived out a life greater than anything written can explain.
He lived a sinless and perfect life.
    New International Version
    2 corinthians 5:21
God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
No one on earth has ever done the works that he has done. He done it all !
NO ONE ELSE HAS EVER DONE ANYTHING CLOSE TO WHAT HE HAS DONE.
HE LIVED THE LIFE THAT ONLY GOD COULD LIVE.
HE DONE THE THINGS THAT ONLY GOD
    CAN DO.
    HE FORGIVES SINS.
    HE GIVES LIFE.
    HE IS THE SAVIOR.
HE GAVE SIGHT TO THE BLIND.
    HE HEALED THE SICK
    HE WALKED ON WATER.
    HE CALMED THE STORM.
HE CHANGED PEOPLE FROM THE INSIDE.
HE SHINED LIGHT INTO THE DARKNESS.
HE RAISED THE DEAD, HE RAISED HIMSELF FROM THE GRAVE, CONQUERING DEATH.
HE SAID ALL THAT BELONGS TO THE FATHER IS MINE. WHO CAN MAKE SUCH
    A STATEMENT.
    THE LIST GOES ON.
    HE SAID IN JOHN 8:24
    King James Bible
I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I AM HE, ye shall die in your sins.
