I think the gold basecoat gave the green a little more depth, it was a little "warmer" green. The Silver basecoat came off a little more "cold" if that makes any sense. I like the Gold basecoat candy green.
Yeah, seeing it in the sun, the gold basecoat green definitely looked better to me. That's the way Fender guitars does their candy apple red...Gold basecoat, and transparent red over that. Both looked good though, but i give it to the Gold basecoat for #1.

So my truck is white and I’m changing the color to pqd surf blue which is the dodge challengers color I would like to use candy, but I definitely do not want to change the color of the pqd surf blue how do I accomplish this exactly what are the steps?
Painting my 95 Mustang GT next year with a base color called "Nobody Loves Me" Gray, then laying down a multi size silver flake with a pearl actually within the flake itself. Finishing that off with applying an Aquamarine Candy over everything. Should look pretty sweet. It's my single turbo street car build project that I purchased for under $1000. Figured I would go all out on the paint job. 👍🍻 Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours. Im definitely thankful for your vast knowledge and the videos you provide us with. 😁
Pearls can be mixed with the candy and give a really nice colour shift in the sun/when light hits it. Most of the factory pearl colours have the pearls mixed in with the candy coat (although they're not true candy colours).
You should have threw down a baby blue white. Basically a white with the blue hue. Or white with a blue pearl overlay. Then hit that green candy. It's ridiculously awesome. And even vets of custom paint can't figure it out. Or here's a free tip on how to have a beautiful candy color that's different from most. You want that candy red but don't want to have that same color as 100 other cars in your city? Everyone using either a bright silver metallic or a yellow gold metallic. Instead get you some 38p. Itsca Mazda color called liquid silver. Some other manufacturers have simular colors. Some of them even list the color as grey. Because it's not bright and sparkling. It's dark and metallic. But it makes a fantastic candy red. And it's not something people are doing at the moment but I guarantee that's going to change soon. Once Some of these cars start hitting the shows. I did one in hok brandywine. I was a solid soul chrystal red is the best red ever. I played with that color so much I came up with 3 of my own variants that I think top the factory. But now I'm telling my customers if you want the most beautiful red. It's what I call liquid Brandy in the Aluminum Bottle.
That would give a deeper, richer colour. Candy is just tinted transparent paint. The more coats you apply, the darker the colour will get until it's almost black.
