OMG I was in the same boat as John about a month ago when I heard rumors of an album coming. Then earlier in the week i watched a couple interviews so I had a little bit of a heads up prior. I do understand wanting him to rap on something cuz that would be FIRE. I'm happy for him to be in a space that he can explore and make what he want though too. I'm diggin' it either way.

You brought back dance memories for me. My daughter took lessons from three through high school, so many years and fun! She couldn't understand why she couldn't dance in pointe shoes at three like she had wished! Love the socks and they sound yummy. I like your spun wool. I know you don't like your ply but wouldn't it have great texture? I love the colors...not a little bit but very nice! I am with you. You can never have enough green sweaters! I love most greens. Love the color choices for the green sweater and it's so fuzzy!! I know the color love thing. I love a good royal blue and do gravitate that way. Happy Thanksgiving, Michael.
I learned to drop spindle, and got the expected highly uneven results my first time, but loved it, and still have the cowl in knit with my beautiful thick/thin/thinner/thicker/thinly thick/thickly thin/WOW! thats thick! yarm. My second attempt was surprisingly better; fairly consistent and plied to a nice worstedish weight. For my third attempt. I decided to try for as thin a single as I could get, and, boy is it thin. LIke, "Even if Chain ply, I don't knit with yarns this light!" thin. Unfortunately, I didn't reach this conclusion until about halfway thru the braid. So it's been sitting on the spindle for the past 8 or so years, waiting for me to figure out what to do. It's nice to know that if I ever do get it finished, and take up spindling again, and work at it diligently for a few years ... I'll still run into problems. That knowledge is the best early Christmas present ever, Thank You! I felt soooooo silly doing my first intarsia project because it is literally the easiest thing and I was so scared haha. My next cast on is going to be Checkmate Sweater for my husband, which looks a lot like the one you're testing! And if you don't love seaming a sweater, you will love the fit and structure it gives the garment. I LOVE a fully pieced sweater.
True! I need to embrace the fact that it’s a color o love working with. For the contrast color it’s going to be a natural. I think it will be nice especially if I’m adding the mohair. 😁
The socks came out beautifully! I have a question regarding your spin - were the plybacks nice and plump while you were checking mid-spin? (Only asking because I've had similar results to your end skein when my singles didn't have enough twist during the initial spin, not the plying process itself.) Some extra ply twist should be able to get it into a lovely twisty yarn though, I'm sure :) And your pupper is such a cutie!
Thanks so much! My playback seemed fine enough and it twisted nicely on itself so I didn’t think to much of it. I’m hopping that by going back and retwisting parts of it it will be more usable for me. It not at least I learned something from it all.
I would but it has no shape at all and I fear that the two strands would compete with each other as they won't be holding on to one another. We shall see.
Adding more twist to the final won't help. Your singles need more twist (plying untwisted them). BTDT. You could take that and chain ply it (which would decrease your length, obviously). I have started chain plying things I want to concentrate the color. Or you could add twist to your final and put with a 3rd strand. Please let us know!!

Re-plying, you can try to ply directly from your swift depending on your set up if you want to save yourself the step of making a cake.

I have never spun anything in my life but I just know that unplying issue would make me grind my teeth in my sleep. I hope you find an easy fix.
