Thank you for another delicious episode. The slip over is lovely and represents your skills and talents. Love the pop of blue your cup added to the set.
Oh my giddy aunt, that jumper is beyond fabulous Michael. Just fabulous. This morning I thought …… oh it’s Michael’s Saturday today…… and here you are …… yay😁 it’s cold but has been dry and lovely here in Cumbria today. 🧶🧶🐏
When you said “Days of Our Lives” I just had to smile. That made me think my Great Grandma who I used to sit and watch sew and crochet as she watched her shows. Good memories 😊. Your knits are always so stunning and you friend must be thrilled. Happy knitting 💚🧶💚
I agree about the brown and blue colors on the Artus Shawl . . so beautiful! And had to laugh about the off camera closet . . I have lots of off camera bins that need sorting ! 😂 Take good care Michael!
You’re right. Snow is beautiful if you don’t have to leave your house. Ever! It is so dirty with the salt and sand. 😮The dirt gets everywhere! My little guy doesn’t like the salt on his paws and it’s downright dangerous to walk. I notice how much more comfortable you are now than when you first began podcasting. ❤ Thank you for sharing yourself. You always make me laugh.
Thanks for another enjoyable episode. Love your shawl! The color combo is great. And scrappy blankets are so fun, like painting with yarn. Good luck with all your organizing. I find organizing and de-cluttering my crafty stuff to be so gratifying. It makes more space for the creativity to flow. ✌🧶☮
Great seeing your socks! The vest is wonderful. And I enjoy seeing your Montrealer again. Those colors are perfect. The Artist Shawl is spectacular. Those colors! Best wishes!
The shawl is beautiful! I use the ‘Challenge’ category on Ravelry to keep track of my projects by year…since I am a knitting journal failure. I put in a number for how many projects I think I want to knit in a year and add use the year number as a tag. I don’t always make the goal, but it is a good (and satisfying way) to see what I’ve knit during the year.
Since seeing your recent pics on IG of your blanket, I've decided that pattern is what I'm going to use for my Wizard of Oz advent that I got in 2023. Thank you!
Thanks for another fun episode, Michael! As always, I love all the beautiful knits! Good luck with creating a list of your sweater quantities. I created one for myself a few years ago in Notes (all Apple gadgets all the time! 😊) and I do find it helpful. I'll strike through quantities that I have used which gives me a feeling of progress which flies in the face of all the new quantities I've added on! LOL. But, give it a go! See you next time! 🙋🏽♀💜🧶
Happy you enjoyed the episode. I too am an Apple person but I think I would forget if I put mine in the notes app. It does sound helpful though. I think I’m going to go analog and see if I like that first before trying a digital method.
You’re so adorable. Love the cranked socks, your Artus shawl is gorgeous. And yes boy, January in Illinois has been cold, snowy, gray, icy - so over it!
So nice knitting along with your podcast. I am knitting the Coorie In Poncho by Amy Palko in a beautiful shade or red merino cashmere nylon held with silk mohair. Heavenly to be knitting on. Loved the Lulu slipover. I don’t need another project but of course I went and bought the pattern. Your blanket is going to be fabulous. You are 5he second podcast showing a blanket. Makes me want to bring out a cotton blanket I started a long time ago. I love how podcasts can inspire you in so many ways.
I'm with you about the recent weather. January thaw perhaps. My friend had robins in her apple tree, spring perhaps?!🤣 Did I see you in Stuart's Gallery? I'm pretty sure yes! My daughter was asking me if I could make her a scarf that she saw somewhere. It was a turtle neck with the flat panels , one in the front and the other one in the back. That vest worked straight would work. I will have to show her. My project is dog sweater number two! The first one fit so well, I am using a fancier yarn! He will need his own closet pretty soon. He loves wearing clothes. He picks out which item he wants to wear! Amazing little guy! Can't wait to see that blanket finished so get on it!
I love your podcast. My mom still watches Days of Our Lives. She is 87. I am making a 10 stitch blanket. I am using my year long subscription to Row One minis. I am holding them double with Kelbourne Wollens Perennial in either natural or Midnight. I am using a #5 double point needles with a sheep needle stopper on the end, so my knitting doesn't slide off the back side. It may take me all year to knit it, but its like your "hexi" blanket... pretty mindless.
Oh excited about that gorgeous shawl! And the hex blanket! BTW, since you use Ravelry, the stash recorder is very helpful, though I'll say I have most of mine in there and it doesn't search that great to find general key words on the mobile app... The PC is much better for that. But, I love having my patterns on the fly and seeing what yardage I need when at a shop drooling over a sale bin 😂 Much love! ❤
Always great to see you! The vest turned out super! I was thinking I’d leave out the button holes on the vest, but since you enjoyed them, go for it nex time too! Your Altus shawl is stunning. I like snow but don’t have to leave the house. After a day or two city snow can be so dirty and gray. Then I want it to melt!
Me either tbh but I am enjoying this one. So maybe cast one on and see if you like it. Thanks for the compliment on the shawl, I'm really enjoying working on it.
I am enjoying watching as I start a new sweater. Agree on attending VKL and I only live one hour train ride from it. For me, too many people and no need to spend $$$ for yarn, etc.
You are wearing my favorite of your sweaters. Not only did you choose gorgeous colors but the fit seems perfect and the style is cool, relaxed but quality - like you. Yeah, we're struggling here - daytime temps are fine, but hubs is disabled so doesn't move a lot and he wants the heat at mid 70s and I'm dying. So I hide out in a room where I've shut the heat vents. Seems to keep us at peace. Your blanket is going to be awesome. And extra wide is a good thing for sharing. Happy Weekend.
Love all of your projects - finished and in progress. I’m using a strand of KP bare sock yarn with a bunch of magic knot balls from prior projects and knitting a dk Anthology Throw. Also using left overs in a fingering weight mitered square blanket. That’s one’s going to take a while as I have just 85 of 360 squares completed. I love scrappy projects. Until next time!
Struggle Bus? Ive been on it but didn't realize the name!!! That slipover with the. button plackets is really worth the effort. Love your socks too, Watching you from a gloomy day in Pittsburgh instead of being at VKL in NYC. The price is right
Thanks for another fun podcast! You have inspired me to start a scrappy blanket with my zillions of left over sock yarn bits. It would be pretty easy to put your vanilla socks in Ravelry going forward, since you only need to put in the info you want to, like maybe a photo and the yarn name, and date completed. Then you can use the search feature under Projects to look back on what you completed in any given year.
Love your podcast!!!! Your Artus is unbelievable!!!! Knitting in a hotel room at VKL. I am sure Kevin and Ray missed seeing you. Saw them yesterday in the Marketplace! 8-)
Awe, thank you! I hope you had a wonderful time at VKL. It looked like it was a blast and I for sure missed hanging out with the NATR boys. Glad you got to see them though.
Michael - that shawl is amazing! Also, I love your scrap blanket! If you need extra scraps let me know. I can donate some scraps if you need more yarn!
Very excited for your plans to organize, track your makes, and use the scraps in the hexagons/stay safe blanket or even in more mixes of your socks. The organizing your stash and tracking what is next and all of these things are making me a bit giddy🎉. I know. Weird! I enjoyed putting my stash in an organized manner with the patterns together in bags and my next step is adding them to the Que in Ravelry. I have tried over the last year to be a better tracker on ravelry and since I knit a lot less my things may be easier than yours but I wish you success. Thanks for sharing.
Very much with you Michael on VLK. It’s a less than 3 hour ride for me and I was planning to go then my brain overruled my FOMO and reminded me I would not be able to resist coming home without yarn and I still haven’t touched NYSW 2021 purchases 😳
Wow, Michael!! The socks…vest…hexi blanket…shawl…all so cool and beautiful. You are one creative person. Congratulations on your finishes, your ideas for scrappy blanket. Now I’m wanting that vest. Just need to finish socks and anthology throw. Always planning the next project ❤
Thank you so much! I’m trying to cast on and work on things that are bringing me joy and helping me feel the most creative. The best is fun and totally worth making once you are done with your current WIPs. 😄
Forgive me if I'm telling you something you already know but did you know Ravelry would track your years makes? On your project page, go to the three dots and click on challenge (it has a symbol like a medal) and just put in any old number, doesn't matter really. Then everything you mark as complete with a date this year appears under that tab as a little list and it gives you the total at the top. Gives you a nice at a glance record with not much effort.
Okay thanks for this. I knew that you could but I didn’t know how. Maybe I’ll do both. I don’t put all of my socks on ravelry because they are just vanilla so me also writing them down will be helpful too.
Thanks for taking us along on your knitting for the last couple of weeks. Are you still part of the sock club this year? I feel like the 'what woollens and nosh stripey socks I'm working on now' is a regular segment on the pod.
LOL "'what woolens and nosh stripey socks I'm working on now" is totally a regular segment. I think I think I have to start calling it that. I am still a part of the club and the January color is fire. I cant wait to get it on the needles. Hopefully before the next episode.
I lost my sht when you told us how you knit socks during the night and wake up with knitting on your chest and just knit away when you wake up . . . . .
Yet another great podcast. Great idea to track your makes. I bought an old calendar on sale (it only had the day numbered in the top corner) the pages are blank and you can more or less make you own setup. I have been tracking my makes like this since 2022. I go back and look at the information I have made a note of on my older projects, when I am starting new projects. I also tape in a piece of yarn. 🧶🧦🧶🧦🧶🧦
This is a great idea and sounds like a fun way to track your project. Once I figure out my non digital way of tracking I’ll be sure the share what I came up with.
Your Artus shawl is stunning! The blue is everything.
Thanks so much. I'm loving the blue too!
The shawl!!! 🎉I love to hear your laugh!!! You are magical!!!!
Thank you for another delicious episode. The slip over is lovely and represents your skills and talents. Love the pop of blue your cup added to the set.
Thanks so much and happy you enjoyed the episode. That Lulu was a blast and i learn so much while working on it.
Oh my giddy aunt, that jumper is beyond fabulous Michael. Just fabulous. This morning I thought …… oh it’s Michael’s Saturday today…… and here you are …… yay😁 it’s cold but has been dry and lovely here in Cumbria today. 🧶🧶🐏
Hey auntie!!! Thanks so much on the compliment on the vest. My friend was just thrilled to receive it.
Beautiful Lulu! I love your podcast and so appreciate you taking the time. Your knitting is awesome and inspiring! ❤
Thank you so much! Happy you’re enjoying the podcast. That means a lot. 🥰☺️

Thank you so much! That Montrealer is a top 10 fav for me. Glad others like it as well.
Good morning Michael, love the vest you made and your artistry shawl is just gorgeous 😊
Morning!!! Thanks so so much.
Nice episode.
Especially the part about "one day 40, tomorrow 30 below."
So Chicago.
Like spinning a wheel.

Love your Artist Shawl! I would love to try it. I agree that the colors in the border are wonderful! And mosaic knitting...!
Thanks so much!!! It’s been a really fun knit and one that is totally worth trying and casting on.
Hi Michael, I'm a new follower and I am enjoying getting to know you. The vest is gorgeous. Thank you for sharing

Thanks Friend!!! Im loving that shawl so much. I might take you up on the scraps offer. it sounds like it would be a win for both of us. LOL

Hello Michael, from Swansea,Illinois.
Your blanket will be awesome Michael. And as always, am lovin’ all your amazing colourful yarn for socks.
Thanks, I’m hopping so too. Colorful socks are a must. 😉😄
I never been into shawls but I love this one probably your mosaic colors anyway beautiful !
Thanks so much!! You should give this one a try. 😁😉

Okay, I'm glad I'm in good company with this. It was nice seeing everyone get together though. One day I'll make the trip.
Love your Artist Shawl and your socks! Love the Prince reference too❤
Thanks so much!!! Prince forever and always. ☺️

I love your Artus shawl. It is stunning I agree the blue and brown are to die for. I’m just starting mine so I’m not sure about my colors
Thanks so much. I'm sure your colors are great. You could always do a lazy swatch just to see how the colors play with each other.

Hey hey. It’s a skein of la Bein Aimee Alix in the color tennis ball.
