This game and the procedural generation concept in itself, brings to mind an idea that some scientists are actually working on for some time.
What if our Universe is actually a very complex Virtual Simulation in a big and powerful Quantistic Computer, and we are just some elaborate and complex Artificial Intelligences?

Frank Drebin I had no idea who they were before this, but Hellogames is going to go down as one of my all time favorite developers just by the way they're approaching this. They have a vision, they're seeing it through even if it means ruin (which is hella doubtful at this point lol) and if people support their vision, they will in turn support them by releasing free updates, some which will be based on community feedback/popularity. These guys are just the definition of awesome.
I'm getting this game the first second I can, don't care how much it costs. Some people are bitching about paying 60 for it, I want to pay that for it, hell give me a collectors edition I can spend even more on, bethesda is charging an extra 60 for a piece of plastic, so can you! It'd probably be much higher quality too. Sony take my money damnit!!

The greatest part of all these interviews is that he is so humble. He will not admit that he has been smarter than other companies and such. Yet that is the absolute truth. It inspires me because I am in advanced math and doing programming but he denies inventing it even though he probably has. It's exactly how I would respond and exactly how someone extremely smart and inspired someone that thinks they aren't as smart would respond. Yet at the same time I would not compare myself to someone that has this much ambition as well as ideas that they committed to. He deserves everything that he has imagined. .

William Manning No, you can't. With a $400 you can build a lower-end PC that will run modern games at 30FPS on low settings. I've tried to create builds for $400 that can outperform a PS4/Xbone, but it's not possible.

***** He did say in the video nothing comes from the cloud server. The hardware generates the same results for each player. In previous interviews it was said the servers are for keeping data of what players discover. Like say when you discover a planet first. Other players will see your name as the one who discovered that planet when they arrive there. Anything you do on a planet that makes an impact on the surroundings will stay there for the next player that finds that location as well. Basically the servers will record our foot prints on the universe and relay that to other players. Or allow us to team up with friends, if you can find them. The universe is BIG. It won't be easy to locate other players.

***** It didn't look like an assumption, it looked like a mistake. And even if it was an assumption, it still doesn't make a guy an idiot. Or let's say someone makes a stupid or as you say "idiotic" statement, it's still not necessary to insult, you instantly lose an argument by doing so (even if there wasn't much argument to begin with :P). It's a totally different thing however, if he calls someone else an idiot in the process ... but as he didn't and just made a false statement, no need to insult people.

People are afraid of different. Especially in the gaming industry. They want the same thing that has been fun for them over and over again until they're beating their heads on the table, and then they'll try something slightly different. But what is the point in gaming if we don't support the developers who take risks? Gaming is about innovating, it's always changing. I saw someone describe this game as "strange", as if that was a bad thing. That is what makes this game look so promising! It's strange! It's different! Stop accepting the same garbage in call of duty and assassin's creed, far cry, halo, all of the same games over and over again! These developers are doing something so different from anything that has been done, and that should be rewarded, not criticized. I am so happy for Hello Games that someone is finally taking a shot at rejuvenating the creativity in the gaming industry, even if this game isn't a success. You're doing something different and fantastic, and I appreciate it.

I was instantly sold once it was communicated that you can explore quadrillions (literally) of planets. This game just amazes me, and I can't wait to play.
On a side note, does anyone know what would happen if you crash your ship? Is it possible to get marooned on a planet? Is there super novas and black holes? BLACK HOLES?

    • @iliekspoorts
      @iliekspoorts 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

ForeverRepublic I don't believe there are black holes. I can say however that there are repercussions if you die. Dying in space means you lose your ship and return to the nearest space hub or base like thing. That's why the currency will actually be worth something and your life is actually important. Hope this helps at least a little bit!

    Question of the interview-
Why haven't other developers done procedural generation to this extent before?
Seriously why.. I hope in 10 years time gaming is taken to places that we can't even yet comprehend.
My jaw was just dropped looking at the universe being created before my eyes, and that it is not apart of the disk and it was just randomly generated but it blended to perfection.. I can't believe my eyes..

From what I can see. This program will be something special. You take as long as you need. No rush! I don't know about how others feel about it, I'm for waiting as long as it takes for you to fine tune it the way you would like it. If you are happy with the outcome, I'm pretty sure everyone else will be too! You sound like a very intelligent; dedicated, and inspired young man. I'm looking forward to the PC version. Thanks again for your dedications; it's what counts!

Yeah after the next update the original art style and concept was totally removed, I feel like i was robbed of my favorite game they should add two builds of the game or at least a choice to go back to the old builds

This guy is awesome, seems super talented so far even with his small team, and is really humble and modest... Telling us to wait until the game comes out and we've decided for ourselves if it's good to give him praise or praise the game... Very nice and likeable guy.

When Sean began describing what would happen if you were able to see all the stars and galaxies in the night sky it reminded me of the Total Perspective Vortex from Hitchhikers Guide.

I really like this guy. Obviously, they did something really original, whether the "game" is good or not, the technology is interesting and definitely pushes video games forward.
That being said, the guy is super humble. That's the sign of a person who has truly mastered their craft: they know how much more there is to learn.

It's awesome how intelligent and modest the guy is. Clearly they've created quite a masterpiece, and the passion really shines through in his speaking. It's funny that this video is what convinced me to buy a PS4, so that I can experience this game on the big screen (Plus some other exclusives should be cool, but this game really sells it for me).
