My daughter lives in Vermilion. Great town Enjoyed your visit to Lake Erie and Vermilion Lighthouse. There used to be a museum right next to the lighthouse. We were surprised to see it was torn down. It was there the last time we visited last year. We were also at the park where you stopped. On a clear day you can see Cedar Point from the Lighthouse. Thanks for the great view of Vermilion. ~Sue from Lucky Dawg Productions.
Hi Russ 👋. We’re in Vermillion, OH too at Paper Moon Winery. If you don’t drink wine they have beer and good food plus a huge parking lot! Come on by! Bill and Debbie. “R Villa”
Came across your channel by accident. I have vacationed in Vermilion since i was 18 mo. old to the present (am 82 now). I am presently in Vermilion from my permanent home in FL. We had some "gray/rainy" days the week of 6/27 . As your post was 7/1, i am assuming you were here last week? Sherod park, where you stopped for lunch is about 2 miles east of where I am staying. Hope you get to see see the lighthouse in Huron & Sandusky, Marblehead & Perry Monument. If you are still along Lake Erie Fri.7/2 you will have witnessed first hand how windy and rough it can get quickly! Have a safe trip!
Russ it must be nice to be back in your home state were you grew up before your family moved to California in the valley. Thank-you for sharing, my bucket list is getting longer and longer when I finally build my overnight-er.
This is such a wonderful treat to be able to see Ohio. Vermillion is a nice quiet place. Loved the drone footage over the lake seeing the homes from above. I liked the Muriel on the brick wall, loved seeing the lighthouse, the beautiful Geraniums, the lakeside homes. Yeah, I would have to agree, it would be neat to dock a boat, run in & grab a homemade Chicken Salad sandwich on wheat with a slice of provolone cheese, slice of a big meaty tomato, some lettuce, a few slices of cantaloupe, & a sweat tea. Winter is like you said harsh. This town will be celebrating 200 years in 13 years from now. Maybe you can come back? So peaceful & relaxing looking seeing the Geranium filled planters & benches by the lake. Like they actually want you to visit. Have a safe 4th of July. I love seeing fireworks.
all I could see is ice forming on the houses by the lake. Sure wouldn't want to find out what winter would be like there. Maybe it isn't as bad as they get in the New England States by the Ocean?
Very nice vid again. I like your style. Avoiding big cities while going West? Take the S.S. Badger car ferry across Lake Michigan. Goes from one kinda small town to another. Cheers!
watching your video and looking at Lake Erie while laying on my bed with the North Pacific just outside. Little bit of difference between them but both very enjoyable. Thanks for the video
farmers thank God for the bounty, but we know "too much of anything is not a good thing...Dear Lord, provide us what we need as it is needed, and in moderation..amen"
Don’t miss the Marblehead Lighthouse! It is the OLDEST continuously operating lighthouse on the USA side of the Great Lakes! There is also a light keepers house and lifesaving station on the site. You can see the coasters of Cedar Point amusement park from here, as well as some of the Lake Erie Islands.

I highly recommend you visit Big Red lighthouse in my home town of Holland, Michigan. Lovely downtown with a Dutch windmill. Thanks for the great videos, Russ.
Hi Russ, Just wanted to say hi and thank you for all the great videos. They have been great to watch during covid. Safe travels! Happy 4th of July. Katalin from Toronto, Canada.
Did you use to live in Killbuck ? Or in that area ? Lovely town. I'm sure the people are patriotic, and helping each other in keeping it a lovely town to live in for all.
Had me going there for awhile, Russ, with your opening shot. The Pennsylvania Railroad branch through Killbuck was long gone, so where'd that train come from? Why Vermillion, of course! Nicely restored railway depot in Victory Park, a close-up would have been nice. Your comment, "...looks like the ocean almost" is truer than you know, Russ. They're called the Great Lakes but in reality are vast inland seas. Calm today, but they must be respected beyond any ordinary lake. After all, they did sink the "Edmund Fitzgerald". Good thing I wasn't driving, it may have proved too tempting to find out if The Beast is amphibious! Thanks for the ride, Russ, see ya next time.
As a rule, seas are salt water. Lakes can become seas if salinity rises due to changes in inflow. Also, some bodies of water were just misnamed by explorers and the names stuck. But the Great Lakes are just that, lakes.
Good video Russ, lighthouses are really neat to see, michigan has alot of them, hope you go to Ludington michigan and watch the car ferry come in called the Badger, the only coal fired ship on the Great lakes, travel safe
I was taught Lake Erie is a mean old lady. I live on the shores of Lake Erie and when she gets riled up it is beautiful to me if I'm on land. Love the winter season the most. Lake Erie in its deepest point is only 40 feet deep. So a little wind and gets rough quick.
Hi Russ, do you still run a power cord out of the van to connect to electricity when at a campsite? Are you just having it closed in the door or did you cut a hole in the van for the cord?
While you're up there check the Canadian side of Niagara falls all my American friends tell me the Canadian side is nicer I haven't seen the American side so I'm just going to what they say enjoy your trip
I am a upper peninsula of Michigan native and the entire Midwest is ugly and boring as hell its same thing of anything east of the Mississippi River in my opinion. I moved from Upper Michigan 4.5 years ago to Boulder Colorado and never looked back . Great video tho!
Wish somebody could figure out a way to share all that water with AZ. , at the rate it's being used out here it wont be long, before we dry up and blow away. Use to have a law here that said you have to be able to supply each house for 100 years. Guess they'd rather have their taxes. More people, more money!!

Was in Loudenville for a pow-wow a few years back.
As a retired railroader, thanks for opening with the grade crossing.
Being from Ohio, Cadiz area, we do have a lot of beautiful scenery. Thanks bunches for the videos. 😊
Did you see his video when he went through Cadiz? Pretty cool.
@@LuckyDawgProductions no but will look for it thanks
Lake Erie, being the shallowest of 5, can get high waves very quickly. But "no sharks". Thanks for including Ohio in your travels.
I lived in Vermilion in my early childhood. Loved that town and never will forget it! Thanks for sharing!
Looks like classic Northern Ohio skies (cloudy!).
Thru my home area Loudonville. Used to live in Vermilion too.
I traveled for a living across 17 States during the 90's and that was part of my territory. Nice to see it again. Haven't been there in near 20 years.
Hi Russ, so nice to see you in our area. We are a half hour south of Sandusky. You will like Marblehead Lighthouse. Enjoy the ride.
It was a beautiful place and the birds singing. Beautiful.
Wow!! Your video showed up on my feed and have no idea who you are but thats where i grew up!! You missed a lot haha!

Go check out Niagara Falls since your up there. Thanks for the trip.
Hey Russ!!! Always "RAINS" in the"EAST"!!! Still "GOOD TIME"!!! Be Safe!!!
we needed it. I was at the lake yesterday, saw the sluice a little low
Always like your drone shots.Great perspective.Thanks Russ👍

Welcome Russ to beautiful Lake Erie!! Try to hit the Lakeside Marblehead Lighthouse on Marblehead. Finally nice weather!!
Outhose, lighthouse, Vermilion has it all!
Good coverage! I'd be skipping rocks out on that lake...
Living near the Erie Shoreline, Vermilion is one of my "Lake Trips" destination.

@@kimberlyshalaby1134 that only happens in rare occasions with cold temps, freezing rain, and wind. It’s not an everyday thing.
Vermilion is my childhood hometown :) I know exactly where you were here :)
Last summer I took my dog to swim in Lake Ontario, Erie and Huron. Huron is the nicest IMO
Howdy Russ 👍
Highway 2 is a very scenic route…I usually travel it from Cleveland to as far as I can go heading east…all along Lake Erie.
Very pretty area. Loved every minute of it. THANKS..

Two of my aunts lived in Vermilion. Would love to see Lorain on a post.
I was born in Lorain but haven't been back there in years. Would love to see what it looks like.
My dad who was from Iowa I remember him saying “son no one ever thanks God for the rain” but we do!
farmers thank God for the bounty, but we know "too much of anything is not a good thing...Dear Lord, provide us what we need as it is needed, and in moderation..amen"
lot of walleye and salmon bass perch carp and some pike
You can find lakeside roads east pretty much all the way to Buffalo, and then along the Niagara River up to Lake Ontario.
Thanks Vermillion Russ !! Great Video.. :)
Keep an eye out for the big ships on the lakes, some come to Duluth Mn port, fun to watch.

Lake Erie can be very violent in storms I've heard it said it can tear a boat out from under its crew in a bad storm.
Lake Erie is very shallow, so the winds can whip it up quickly. But all of the Great Lakes are to be treated with respect, they can be deadly.
I was taught Lake Erie is a mean old lady. I live on the shores of Lake Erie and when she gets riled up it is beautiful to me if I'm on land. Love the winter season the most. Lake Erie in its deepest point is only 40 feet deep. So a little wind and gets rough quick.
@@tazz378 actually Lake Erie’s deepest point is around 200 ft, but yes most of the lake is less than 50-60 ft deep.
