When I was a teenager we could fly out to Put-in -Bay on Ford trimotors. On Island Airlines. In the 60's
my Mom and Dad were on the last flight of the trimotor before it crashed.
Like once a year, they will have a ford trimotor take trips to South and Middle Bass Island.
I did fly once as a teen on the Ford Trimotor to Put In Bay. Looking forward to our visit to Port Clinton and Put In Bay next month. Grew up in Vermilion (I’ve lived in Florida for 37 years now) Catawba and Marblehead lighthouse and the Jet Express are on the list

Would love to live in Marblehead, Ohio. What a special place to live. Surrounded by the lake.
I grew up in Lakewood and Vermilion. Currently living in Florida for the past 37 years. I’ll be visiting family in the Lorain area next month. Plan on taking the jet express from Port Clinton to Put in Bay. Marblehead lighthouse is also on the list.

Pretty cool: Included Put-In Bay airport in my required cross country back in '69. Nice rig your piloting, I did it all backward, truck camper to large rig back in the '60s, Caravan now.
I love it that you came to Marblehead. That conveyer belt is for the quarry to load stone on the Barges to shore up the waterfront. Marblehead has a huge quarry. Thanks for showcasing Marblehead! See you out West!
The main three islands in Lake Erie northeast of Port Clinton are South Bass, Middle Bass and North Bass Island. Put-In-Bay, a major tourist area, is located on South Bass Is. Ferries leave Port Clinton and Catawba Island carrying vehicles, freight and passengers to the Bass islands. A bit northeast of the Bass Islands is Pelee Island, a Canadian Island. The Perry Monument on South Bass Is. is well worth visiting as you climb high up for a panoramic view of the island area. Yes, I lived there! And I do miss the area.

Most amazing walleye fishing in this country. I used to fish there all the time in my younger days. Always came home with my limit. We used to stay at West Harbor. Thanks for the memories. The ferry from Catawba to put-in-bay is not that expensive. You should have spent the day there (Put-in-Bay). You could leave the van on the main land .
You can’t begin to realize how happy you’ve made me feel! During my youth, many years ago, my family went to Lakeside on Lake Erie. Now, seeing you drive and see very familiar places, I am smiling ear to ear! Thank you! Go to Catawba and park the van, then you can go over to Put-in-Bay!

🙋♀️Hello Russ! I was beginning to think you were the only person 'til the Ferry came by loaded with all those people. Have really enjoyed this summer trip. Love how you include the drone view to let us see all around. The picnic table was as inviting as the benches were. Could have sat all day watching those big white birds, the boats. So peaceful. I got tickled when you said here comes the S.S. JOHN DEERE. Nice little town. I liked the Lake Erie Love sign. Have a nice day Russ.👍

Another wonderful video about my back yard where I grew up and still live. Probably been here 500 times in my life the past 65 years. You drove by a restaurant that servers the best same day caught walleye or perch meals in the land. Also have to say that East Harbor state park had the best swimming beach in all the great lakes years ago. The water level is alarmingly high now days and have ruined the beach. Better than the southwest US where they will be out of water in 10 years, I guess. Just last year I took my bike, tent, and backpack on the ferry over to south bass and camped for three days. Leave your call on the mainland. Will do it again later this summer.

it floods there anytime we get a strong ne winds. st rte 163 is usually impassable due to flooding during those winds.
Sixty years ago where you stoped at East Harbor the white sand beach was probably 25 yards out from there. The beach was several miles long.

You missed a real gem by not going 10-14 miles closer to Toledo. Just west of Port Clinton is the new Ottawa Wildlife Refuge. A great visitor center is there and boardwalks over the marshes. It's brilliant!

😎🌟😎 Oh yeah ☺️ born and raised in the area. Crossed that Port Clinton drawbridge many times over. There's some Awesome smoked fish 🐟🐠🐟 shops in that town! 😋 Just gotta find em. I really miss that! Been in sunny Arizona 🎋😎🌞😎 the last 24 years. Just don't miss those gloomy skies. Have heard there's some creepy storm clouds that come across that lake.
Being over there at Put in Bay Is like being on the Island Bahamas
should see the ice structures in the winter time when the waves bring big blocks of ice into the beach area
Lake Erie is said to be about 3' higher than its normal state. The beach at East Harbor is almost completely covered by water. There is a small section at the end west end of the parking lot that does have a little beach.

Took our Airstream out to Put-in-Bay several years ago. I dont remember it being that expensive. We camped at the State park on the island.
RT 2 would not have been a bad route. It takes you along Lake Erie and to Down town Toledo Port area.
Best way that I have found to enjoy the lake and see the islands is on the Goodtime I. You will sped a great deal of time bobbing around on Lake Erie during the day, but the boat will take you to both Kelleys Island and Put-in-Bay. The largest problem that I see is that you only get to spend 1.5 hours on Kellys, but you did get to spend 3.5 hours on Put-in-Bay. All for $28.
It’s hard to grasp the vastness of Lake Erie. Pretty amazing.
You missed the Confederate cemetery there was a prison camp around there
years ago that was all a sandy beach and it would be packed with cars and people

At about 8:35... The 1st island was Put N Bay, the 2nd was Kelley's.

Put-in-Bay has a huge lighthouse.
You might be thinking of Perry’s Victory Monument. The light house at south Bass island is more of a Victorian style home with a small lighthouse
That’s the jet express to put n bay it makes the trip in like 12 min

That used to be all sand beaches now water came up and took a lot of the beach.
