*Update:* Lazy Duchess just updated the Smoothness Patch 2.0 so you can now run it with the new EA App!
modthesims.info/d/658759/smooth-patch-2-1.html
btw do you have a video on how you sort your cc and mods folder?
I do, and it's working quite well in my game.
@@monjajensen3885 I don't have a video for it, but all I do is sort by categories ie. furniture, clothes, hair, etc.
I did! It runs amazingly! Just not perfect because I play it on my old ass laptop. But still! All hail LazyDuchess 🙌
@@acottonsock does it work for mac sims 3 metal
It’s so funny the fact the community it’s doing a better job the EA 😂
It's extremely embarrassing and disheartening. Everyone seems to care about the Sims except... the Sims. They have no shame, though smh
Community is the best developer for EA and Bethesda.
Right? You guys saw how EA copied Paralives for The Sims 5?? Argh
It's not really surprising. EA is money motivated, community is not. And you might think you'd pay EA more for better but they will always invest the bare minimum for max ROI. This is the sad reality of EA.
i cant even get the sims 3 to launch through the ea app, been an ongoing issue for a week now and ea will do nothing about it
Lazy Duchess is an angel in the sims community, idk how they manage to edit both sims 2 and sims 3 to a elemental level but I'm so grateful for the all the improvements
The .exe on duchess website decided to attack my Firefox/profiles folder. AKA a cookie logger. Luckily my bitdefender stopped it.
I downloaded this and am absolutely blown away at how well it works. Dragging the CASt over to a new chair or wall or floor or whatever was always a pain for me because it takes so long for the item to update. This completely changed it! No spinning wheel at all! I’m shooketh!! And the patterns INSTANTLY CHANGE and update as you click through your desired options!!
I was really happy with the 1.0 version so I'm excited to test out the 2.0 version :)
Omg I'm so excited. I just got into playing TS3 because I've been binge watching you the past 5 days. Thanks for making the video :)
beuh i am too except ive been playing for a few years and i just found out about this 😭😭😭😭 im so exoted cuz ive been waiting so long idk why i havent looked for this earlier
This is everything and more I wanted for the Sims 3 for past decade! Thank you for sharing this, I love seeing new Sims 3 content in 2022 and seeing better gameplay
You're so welcome!
This is simply a must have for all TS3 players!! The difference in my game is insane.
Does it enhance graphics or just make gameplay skoother
@@GoinSoloYT It just makes gameplay smoother. It also cuts down loading time in CAS a ton!
@@cassafrassle oh thanks gonna add it right now!
The reason it runs better at 30 FPS is because the engine was built with 30 FPS in mind. The game is capable of pushing more frames, but the engine starts to struggle. Other games also have issues related to FPSs. For example, all the games made in the Gamebryo/Creation Engine (Bethesda games) have serious issues above 60 FPS because the engine's physics are tied to the FPSs. This is pretty normal for older video games. Newer games are built in better engines like Unreal and Unity, which do not have these limitations.
Does it mean it will run island paradise smoothly!? If that’s the case SOMEBODY SHARE THIS WITH LILSMISE so she can finally continue with her hotel!! She never got a chance to finish it due so much lag it ruined the whole experience for her!
Nope. Island paradise is inherently flawed by the way the world is built. Mostly routing. I had the prior update and island paradise ran... for maybe 5 ingame weeks.
Edit: however, this is mostly fixable by removing all houseboats(Only in Isla Paradiso do houseboats glitch out this bad) and certain families that for some reason lag out the game hard! theres tutorials up for how to do it
@Luan Sh Wtf?🤣That's so random. What do you mean suspicious? You think she's a secret serial killer or something?😂What are you doing just talking shit about her behind her back like that for no reason?
@Luan Sh If you don't see why someone would be offended by someone expressing a negative opinion on someone for no reason other than a "feeling" then I don't know what to say to you. She is still a person eventhough you don't know her personally.
@Luan Sh I think we all care about what other people think about us even though logically we know we shouldn't. But we'll just have to agree to disagree. Have a nice day.
@Luan Sh Sorry for making this a whole discussion btw. I just thought the whole "suspicious" thing was really funny. Like she's plotting something evil.😂 I'll stop bothering you now.😅Bye
Omfg this is so exciting! I’ve been waiting for this to come out since the beta was announced. I’m downloading this literally *right now*
I really appreciate all the videos you post for the Sims 3 as a girl in her 20s still playing it consistently!!
This is a lifesaver for me! I’m tired of dealing with the mean behavior glitch in my Sims 4 game. I’m ready to go back to Sims 3.
that glitch is so annoying. i would always have couples that would be perfect until they got married. then all of a sudden my sims husband would just start fighting with her constantly. this happened in all of my saves, and it was always just my husbands lol.
The sims community carrying and fixing the games for EA.
This mod is literally a whole new world when u play with it on. I found it out from your channel, watched all ur NRAAS videos bcs i truly wanted to play Sims 3 properly and I'm amazed. For those who doesn't know how to properly set the TPS in the txt file: I have 16GB RAM and AMD Ryzen 5 3400G and my settle amount is 1000 TPS, tried up to 1200 but the higher I put, the laggier it got with stuttering and such, so if you have a CPU close to mine in power: 1000 is the to-go amount. Otherwise, just try values: whenever you get stutters and fps drops, keep lowering it by 50 or 100 and just try, dont be scared. Don't go over 1200 bcs I have no idea what happens if you put that much in a low-mid pc.
This mod is awesome! I had watched your last video about the first smoothness patch. I still play on the high settings and my game runs so much faster! It even loads faster. My computer is old so it still lags but this helped so much!
the smooth patch changed my game forever. I don't think I could ever play without it again.
The way I absolutely RAN to install this aaaaand, it works! I use CC Magic and somehow nothing went wrong and being a CC addict with probably more than 50GB of CC I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw how quickly CAS loads, wtf. Only thing is that it seems to disable the compact clothes/accessories setting that I have in NRAAS mastercontroller BUT having said that, I don't care because it loads so fast that I don't mind seeing all available swatches.
Do you also have store items and expansions?
I’m wondering cause I do and I also have cc.
My computer is a laptop that is nowhere near high end in my opinion. I bought it back in 2016. I’m wondering if this patch will work wonders for me as well.
@@HH-yq6ch The only way is trying it, it doesn’t take too much time
@@HH-yq6ch I have a Macbook Pro laptop from 2013 running Nivada video card and Bootcamp Windows. I have some CC and playing a family of 5 with 2 pets and 16 roommates (Thank you Nrass mod for all the roommates lol!) in a large house in Roaring Heights. I am playing on mostly high settings and ultra high for Sims. I will say this didn't make my game run as smooth as it did in what is shown in her video (since my computer is old) but it dramatically improved my game! My game loads faster overall now and runs much better. One thing I love is how much improvement I've seen in Create A Style. The swatches load faster and so is selecting and applying it on objects.
Also getting overwatch and a few Nrass mods helped as well.
I noticed that as well. Somehow the compressed window doesn't work anymore but it doesn't bother me since I don't use CAS that often. I would rather have a quicker running game overall.
Hope I've helped!
@@HH-yq6ch Yes, I have all expansions (+stuff packs) and store items installed as well but also, I am using CC Magic as well which on it's own did a lot for me too but as always with all things like this, it's best to make a backup of your current files before replacing them so that you can test if it works for you and if it's not worth while, you can add your original files back in.
How can you have 50GB of CC😭💀
I thought that this wasn't working for me but I realized from your video that I just didn't install it right! It's completely made my game less laggy. So lovely!!!
This mod makes me better appreciate modders and game devs alike. It’s a lot to simulate an entire town full of object and NPCs like the Sims 3 but IMO it was totally worth the risk and it’s good to see the game still being supported after all these years!
oh i'm so happy this exists! lag is one of the only things stopping me from playing the game, this is lifesaving!
I'm just coming back to The Sims3 for the first time in a while so this is very exciting news indeed!! Thank you so much for the update!
This is literally a GOD SEND! thank you so much for this invaluable video! My processor has been working overtime too run ts3 which is crazy since it's a gaming laptop.
Thanks for doing a highlight and overview on this amazing mod! More people need to know about it.
Wow, I can't believe this... Just tried it out myself and it's hard to believe how fast it loads "cas" items. Thank you so much for sharing info about this patch. It's such a shame that the developers of the game didn't care enough to fix their own game like this. Again, tanks :)
Glad I could help!
Not even three minutes in and you blew my mind with the “drag a swatch”
I got back to playing sims 3 just today with a lot of patience, can't wait to try this!
Thank you for sharing this! I always thought it was my computer lagging, until I installed TS3 to my gaming PC and the same thing happened. ❤ I can not wait to install this patch! 😊
i love the sims 3's gameplay but the lag makes it borderline unplayable for me, i can't wait to try this mod :D
This patch really damaged my game and I’m SO sad, because being a creator (mainly extremely complex outdoor and pet decor) who’s testing new content for release every week or so and also running a story blog, my game bogs down extremely quickly and I’m getting to the point where I can’t use it for both anymore. I have to shuffle so much shit around just to be able to take one or two screenshots several _hours_ later. I had hoped this patch would help even just a little, but as much as it improves some areas, it gradually made my game unplayable and I almost couldn’t even salvage it after uninstalling.
I’ve seen some other folks on the MTS discussion tab having similar problems, so at least I know I’m not the only one. It’s obviously nothing against the creator-I’m glad to see it’s working out better for others!
Yeah I just removed it. I may try the previous version though.
Did lazy Duchess fix this?
Just put this in my game! CAS has never loaded so quickly and smoothly!
Thank you! i just downloaded sims 3 yesterday lol this makes me more motivated to play.
I was today years old when I realized SmoothPatch has a native FPS limiter- without something like RivaTuner my game will run at crazy high FPS even trying to change the settings in my game, to the point where if I don't limit it, it might kill my laptop, lol. Considering RivaTuner often conflicts with other programs and games, it's nice to have an option just for TS3, finally.
Thank you for all your instruction videos, you are the Sims 3 Goddess because of you I'm able to enjoy the game I've loved for many years. Please keep up the great work and keep on with your instructions videos.
You are a true blessing to TS3 community!
I'm obsessed with finding mods for my sims 3 now oml. When I was younger, I never dared to even try to touch a single mod because I had no idea how to install them. The past 2 weeks I've been just hyperfixated on learning about mods and installing them and my game is literally so customized now, I can't ever go back
I just reinstalled sims 3 after a couple years of absence and thank you so much for showing me this mod! It really is a game changer and I have so much fun without any game breaking lag!
I love this game. Smooth Patch was released in 2021 (I took a hiatus at that time). I thought optimization was no longer made for that game, I'm glad I'm wrong.
Btw keep that in mind. The Sims 3 was 'released' in 2009, but EA announced the game back in 2006 (since it's officially announced, then it means the game is most likely already in development). Sims 4 development started in q3 2008 fyi.
So basically, it is a mid-2000s game that has advanced features such as an open world and cast.
And the Sims 4 just got a dx11 feature THIS year, in 2024 (it shows that the game was built in outdated technology). I mean, Sims 3 has a 4 GB RAM limit for being x86 (understandable for that era), but the fact is Sims 4 only uses 4 cores at most, while Sims 3 already uses 3 cores (though mostly 2). Ngl this is a mess. I'm glad InZoi happened, it requires super high-end specs. But since it initially supports high cores CPU (Ryzen 5800x), you know the game will not hold you back if you buy a PC somewhere in the PS 6 era.
Also, I hate the Sims 4 loading time. Back in 2011, my y460 laptop with 5400 hdd loaded the Sims 3 in 15 minutes. In 2016, my i7 2600k 4.2ghz + SATA 3 SSD loaded in 5 minutes. Now my 7500f + Pcie 4 NVME SSD loads in one minute.
In summary, the Sims 4 loading time (~20-30 seconds) is actually longer than the Sims 3 if I'm traveling.
Oh, this looks awesome! I hadn't played a Sims game in a year but I recently wanted to build something. I have soooo much CC that loading it in CAS and and CAP is a pain.
yesss thank you for covering this! it's time more people join the smooth patch cult lol
just a little additional tip to those who are new to the smooth patch; if you increase the TPS to more than your computer can handle (or install the patch at all even), you can literally fry your computer. This mod increases CPU usage so It would be a good idea to google how hot your CPU can get and monitor your temps with and without the mod installed. This isn't really a problem if you have a good gaming laptop, so this is more of a warning for those on low end or midrange laptops. As with all things, the more your laptop parts are used the shorter the lifespan is.
how can you monitor the temp of your CPU? I have an acer midrange desktop
@@RRSIMMER you can use speccy too :)
@@chxrrywaves thank you :)
I am so excited to try it out with the EA app... and terrified that the EA app will break everything
I haven’t played the Sim 3 for years because of the lag this is life changing the Sims 4 can wait on updates while I run my dream horse ranch and fairy club in the sims 3 thank you for highlighting this!!!
thank you for this! ive been getting back into the sims 3. I never played with mods till 2 weeks ago, and i saw this video and knew i needed this mod for my game. thank you for explaining it! sims 3 mods to install is so different to the sims 4 and the sims 2! haha, i find it harder. so thank you for explaining this in depth. it truly helped me!
I'm not sure if my comment got deleted (maybe since I posted a link) but I wanted to spread awareness about this mod.
(THIS ONLY APPLIES IF YOU ARE USING NRAAS MODS)
I've been using this mod ever since I watched this video (thank you maddy!) and it was GREAT! and had no big problems with it. I'd sometimes get some ScriptErrors but it didn't really impact my gameplay too negatively.
However, after frequent errors I asked on the NRAAS fourms about it and apparently it's due to the Smoothness Patch. Apparently, even though it might not cause major problems now it could make your game unplayable in the future.
Personally I love this mod though so I didn't want to get rid of it. The helpful people on the forum told me about how I could just place the three main files within my game directory but not install the package files.
I'm no professional so I don't know what changes that technically makes. But after deleting the package files from the Mods folder and keeping the other files, I virtually get ZERO ScriptErrors! Although, CAS did kind of slow down. However, I think the technical functions of this mod like FPS or TPS (technical stuff I'm not really sure of 😅) continue to make your gameplay smoother. Anyways I think this is a better way of using this mod without risking your game!
I just realized this for myself, maybe everyone else already knew this info, but for those who didn't hope this helps!
hey, are there any updates regarding this? I installed the new smooth patch from january this year yesterday and it seems to cause more lags (I have NRAAS mods and also "seven seas sailor" version of sims, my game didnt lag before getting lazyduchesses patch...now I removed it but it is still a bit laggier than before :(
also i tried it with and without the smooth id package, both the same laggy
It never seemed to work for me so I can’t wait to try this in the morning 😂I’m so excited
Omg thank you sooo much 😭I can’t express how happy this has made me
Omggg thank so so so muchhhhh I literally was having the hardest time with my game being super dark and this fixed it!!!!
Its amazing how the sims team doesnt give a fck about anything but the people who make mods actually care and do more for the game than the EA team 😂
Omg Thank you so much!! I stopped playing my Sims 3 game for while now because I was annoyed with the constant lag in cas, build/buy and when speeding up the game with the triple/double speed. Some worlds lagged less than others but some of the more laggy worlds (for me it was Isla Paradiso, Appaloosa Plains,Twinbrook and Bridgeport) would crash at random after it lagged or froze which was really annoying. But I can't wait to download this to hopefully fix it!
(Update: i've downloaded it and it works!
At first I had problems with sims being unclickable but that was because I downloaded the mods folder from modthesims with Nraas in it and it clashed with the smoothness patch so I had to delete the NRAAS mod and then it worked fine!)
Omg thank you so much for this!!! My cas is loading so fast I’m shocked! ❤️
wow, thank you so much! i'm sort of new to the sims 3 and i'm definitely gonna try this!
I'm gonna have to check this out! My game lags so much. Thanks for telling us about this mod. I've never heard of the modder either.
I. Love. The Island Paradise Map. But I don’t even want to quantify how many hours I’ve waited as in-game evening hit, and my game would slowly…. Agonizingly so… chug… along… and I would trace the spinning wheel with my mouse praying to whoever that my game wouldn’t crash during one of these intermediate periods of lag. Lazy Duchess deserves a medal, crown & cookie all rolled up in one
Also, this video is so helpful considering this EA app business, and just so comprehensive. Really appreciate your videos!
My goodness, I re-dowloaded her launcher just to be sure everything's perfect, and even the launcher runs so much smoother !
English is not my first language but I understood everything you said. Thank you for a great video.
Thank you so much, I couldn't get it to work, but with your help it's running
ok but like 10 seconds in and i already loved ur vibe
Your making me want to sort out my mods and play it!!!!!!!!!!
Hey girl! Thank you for this 🙏😍
I'm currently running this game on my laptop with no graphics card, and it was smoooooth!
Back here because there's now 2.1 and I can't remember how to install it and I am a very visual learner. Hoping this works 🤞
Girl thank you so muxh u cant wait to play it smoothly
PS i got a weird glitch in cas because of the package file. I removed it now everythibg is fine
And which zip file you need to download if you have cracked game?
i love this so much and i didnt know the camera lagging was because of the 60fps prob!! guess i killed 2 birds with one stone wif this vid😭thank uuu!!!
So happy this exists I can now play the sims 3 W/O it braking my pc
i couldn't get the game to launch at all with this installed, i'm so sad T_T hopefully someday the mod will get an update that makes it so i can use it
Hi Maddie, you said that the Lazy Duchess mod works with Sims MC Integration module, but, after downloading that module in order to be able to collapse clothing in CAS, having it notwork and doing some internet research, I found a lot of people say that Smooth Patch (at least the most recent version) actually conflicts with the MC module causing the collapse to not work. I saw several people say this. Have you noticed that problem since you've made this video?
Did this mag anyone's game laggier??? I literally cant use it because it makes it worse.
@@monamourcole can’t even get past the launcher with it 🤣
So basically it threads the game.We use same thing in Rimworld too. Basically your computer has cores nowadays but old games cant use those cores(Since there wasn't much core at those times) and will only use one core. These mods spread the stress over cores but they are buggy and incredibly difficult to make if the game didn't intend to be threaded in the first place. Mods gets broken and compatibility is annoying to manage. It took almost 4-5 years for Rimworld to get a proper thread mod that has not break every mod and it still has incompatible mods.
Other way to fasten the game would be make 64 bit version of it but that has to be done by the developer cannot be done by a mod.
Note:This wont fasten your game if you do not have multiple cores in your PC as much as you hope
Thanks so much:)❤️❤️
Hi, I just downloaded the smoothness patch the other day and my game is absolutely ruined... It was running just fine but I thought I would try to optimize it so I downloaded the smoothness patch and did a few other things like match my graphics card and clear some caches and everything I could find on youtube to make the game go smoother, but now I can barely even play because the lag is unbearable. Has anyone else experienced the same thing or have I done something wrong? And most importantly, what could I do to make my game go back to working OK again? I feel so dumb for doing anything in the first place...
I hated how slow the loading time was in the sims 3 so I'm glad the community makes literally anything possible
y'all... as someone who never played TS3 when it was originally released, but then couldn't actually run the damn game when i finally installed it years later... i am OVER THE MOOOON~
makeup and the face under it on poiiiint 👌🏼 people are so nice-looking
I’m soo sad the 2.0 update made my cas run so beautifully but it made my gameplay extremely laggy even with no mods or cc, I don’t know what I did wrong 😢, is there a way I can take it out and just use the original one 😭😭
Thank you for showing this!
I followed all the instructions. However, my game is still just as slow. When I open the launcher, it takes about 2-3 minutes to open the game. Then, it takes about 10 minutes to open the world and then it just closes abruptly. I don't know what to do. My childhood dream is to play the sims 3.
Well maybe your computer/laptop config can't handle it. The Sims 3 is very heavy and badly optimized. My pc is quite good and it still lags quite a bit.
The game runs from the mod and its smoother but it keeps crashing, what to do?
i dont have the launcher in the folder?
thanks for your help! 💜
i love how you say nraas
I'm slowly getting tempted to buy the Sims 3
Do it - it's the best one.
The one problem is that this patch seemingly won't let you to compress your cas
Unfortunately the updated Patch made my game unplayable.
All moodlets are gone, same for the Sim-pannel on the site and I can't see the needs, job, skills and so on. :(
Yeah am having the same problem
Yeah my game won’t even load!!
Or launch I guess.
Thank you for this!
LAZY DUCHES OUR SAVOIR
i wish EA would go back in to the old games and give them a more modern update, so it can run with all graphics cards and optimization
Btw she updated the custom launcher to work through the EA app so you no longer have to launch with an executable to run smoothness patch. just tested it myself.
Hey there! Any tips with this? I'm not really seeing any positive impacts on this in regards to my performance. Do you think it might have something to do with Master Controller? I'm not seeing that package when I download the file.
Thanks!
I will still go down the rabbit hole of scrolling through mods of Lazy Duchess.
Initially I thought that from the title this was for the texture of CAS but this is another world. I am scared of installing it but I might just have to try this out
Hail our lord and savior, Lazy Duchess
9:30 unfortunately in my game smooth patch still conflicts with NRAAS, I still can't turn my CAS into compact form :(
Hello, yes! LD hasn’t found out a workaround for this yet. However, if you delete the .package files in your Mods folder, it will still be same old smoothness patch with the other updates LD lists in the description of the post. 😊
@@acottonsock Hi! Can you elaborate on this? Are you detailing a work around to have the compact function work? Which package file exactly are we deleting? Thanks

LazyDuchess is on the way to optimizing this game god DAMN everyone say thanks and thanks to sock for telling us how to install
Finally, I will maybe be able to play the sims I love. I have to play sims 4, but I miss 3 so much. I cant even play it now, it lags and crashes so much.
I wish that I still could play the game. This would help me so much 😢
I recently switched from origin to the EA app and it fucked up my game and now I can't even install the game or my expansion packs 😭
Yes, it did it for me too, I went back to origin launcher
@@ceres514 I tried that too, but then origin wouldn't recognize that I had expansion packs and that I've played the game 0 hours 😔
I'm not the only one with this issue, but I don't know how long it will take for EA to fix it. Right now it has taken a whole month for them to fix it, so I think that us with severe problems will have to wait long for it to get fixed 😔

Welcome!
I am so highly confused because there is no TS3patchlauncher in my bin.
Using the steam version if that makes a difference.
same
there is no launcher in the steam version lol. i just open the normal launcher and it worked normal
the last one didn't work for me, let's see what this one does! amazing work, nevertheless
Hey is it better to have this patch in steam or origin? Or is it the same?
👋 hi pretty late but I have the mod just having trouble installing it into my game as I have the steam version and don’t have a “bin” folder really excited to have this added to my game 😭😭😭
my game won’t start. have tried both versions of her patch (with and without launcher). game patching notification and than nothing. everything is in the correct place
yeahh, same
Can anyone tell me in 2024 if this mod is safe to download and use and in my game? There are other comments with people saying it did harm to their sims 3.
