Just a heads up for people with massive families like me, I’ve used porter to move WAY more than 15 sims together. I usually move anywhere from a minimum of 50-110ish. I’ve never had any issues. I move everyone with nothing in their inventories and prefer to save their items I wanna take on their home lots I place in the new world.
It’s a good bet the large amount of stuff you keep in sims inventories could be the issue actually! I read something so long ago about having the sims personal and family inventories preferably completely empty when you pack and move them to avoid issues. I’ve just religiously followed that advice since, unsure of whether it helped or not but maybe it does
Have you ever taken prom pictures with you? I'm curious as to if they would work. I know there are some items (like the prom pictures) that can't be moved without being in the inventory. It's cool if you don't know! I was just wondering
@Jeanette I believe It maintains prom pictures with NRAAS Traveler even if the prom date Sim doesn't come along in the new world with you. I think with NRAAS Porter, it wipes the pictures and still gives you the frame, but the photo inside the frame is solid gray.
@jeanette6486 I’ve definitely moved photos taken with the cameras and I’m 99% sure prom photos as well. I’ve always used porter to move. I place camera photos, landscape/portrait paintings, and prom photos on the sims home lot which I then place in the new world I moved them to. I believe the photos save as SNAP files that generate in your new world folder when the saved lots with ur items are placed, so you do not lose your sims photos if they’re saved to a lot rather than the sims inventory… If that makes sense
So nrass porter seems like the way to go! Might take a lil longer and require more steps but it seems like the safer option when done properly. Thanks for this video!
love sims 3. i miss the ambition of the neighborhood thats missing in 4. Thankfully Paradox has a simlike challenger coming out later this year. Hope its good

Great tutorial! I'd never thought of using Nraas Porter, since I didn't really know how it worked, but it looks cool! I like that it doesn't bloat the save. Will consider using in future, and of course, I'll come back if i have any questions. 😊
just wanted to add this here, i personally have moved over 100 sims with NRAAS porter but i found the trick is to make multiple "packs" and then unpack them in the new save and fix the family tree using NRAAS add child/set parent options
man i would LOVE to use traveler for moving sims long distance but my poor laptop would probably explode from processing all that data bloat. porter seems to be miles better than the in-game feature too though so thank you so much for a guide
10:16 241 MB is nothing...my file that I've been playing with for 6 years is 2.57 GB!!! It started in Bridgeport, moved to Starlight Shores, and have had multiple Sims from different generations go to University. This is a very weird want, but is there a way to keep the clock progress? Like, if you over the in-game clock it will show how many in game days you've been playing for. I assume not because Porter requires you to make a new game, but it's something I enjoy looking at.
Out of curiosity, for instances like Traveler, World Adventures, or University Life- is there a way to delete relationships that are saved? Asking since it drives me insane at times when my sims remember everyone from University, including every stranger they ever waved at. Drives me insane! 😂
I'm doing a lepacy and I"m on generation one. I tried to use the watermelon/apples thing to get her twins and oh my god, she had quadruplets. I don't even understand how this happened. Literally closed my game from shock. I need to move because there literally isn't a house big enough (or ANY house that I can afford) for all these sims
Question, does Porter bring the dead's tombstone? I packed a family with a tombstone in a Sims inventory and it was removed, I put it there because it was in the family graveyard on the lot so it could be moved to the next town and be in that lots family graveyard (on the home lot) as before..

Alright, I have a question. Say I had both Porter and Traveler installed, but used Porter to move sims to another town... Would Traveler still allow for other sims they knew stay in the relationship panel and family tree, or do they not work together in that aspect? I'm very generational based and this file I've been playing on is already huge. I also love Story Progression and seeing everyone get together with new people, so I'd hate to break up some of the couples that are together but live separate in my family because I used Porter.
Are skills, camera photos, degrees, and adventure/collection journals retained? I assume if any of the sims in the move are occult they'll still be occult right?
So i have a question. Is there any way to keep like the tombstone of the dead? i still want my dead relative ghosts to say hi in the new world too but i tried taking the tombstone in the sims inventory but it disappeared when i got into the new world
Are you using Porter or Traveler? I've actually never thought of this! 🤔 If you already tried in the Sims' inventory, maybe try in the family inventory. Let me know if it works because I also would be interested to know!
I used porter and the sim Inventory and it wasn't in the inventory anymore but someone told me to check the mausoleum. I will try with the family inventory but i might have deleted my old save but i l see if i can try soon and il update

Not sure if i downloaded nraas traveler packed up in the same file .package of overwatch or register. Or is it a game update that allows us to move our sims to other towns? Not sure if i can travel to custom towns PLEASE HELP ME TO UNDERSTAND what does that mean
Check your mods folder to see if you have nraas traveler. I'd never advise anyone to travel to any world without nraas traveler. With nraas traveler you can travel to custom worlds. So just make sure you've downloaded traveler to your mods>packages folder then do the travel interaction through your sim's phone. You'll see the option to travel to any custom sim world for vacation
hello, possibly you have heard this problem many times but my sim went to france and when she returned she simply disappeared, I only have her husband and his 5 children, please a video to avoid this problem (I understand that once it happens it is irreversible)

Love the video and thank you so much for explaining it. I was so confused about the two. I wanna use Traveler but the size is giving me pause cause my game lags already so I don't want another thing to lag it down. Porter seems nice but the sims I wanna bring along are not immediate family like your example sim, like the sims aren't siblings and such. Like if I decided to move right now, I would be moving (along with active) a sim who is the great-nephew of the moving sim's grand uncle (had to work that out cause family echo can only do so much). That would mean the family tree is messed up right? So I'm kind of wondering if it wouldn't be worth it to just get traveler and then try porter for the next move (I'm jumping from world to world after I have my sim family do the world careers). Any advice? Would it be best that way or stick with Traveler or go with Porter and hope for the best?
@@avaavs3235 I'm pretty sure the bloating will be the same, cus the bloating is caused by the file retaining data from the other towns you've been to. Vacation and Move both would retain sims, relationships, stuff like that, so it will still add bloat. I do think it might be okay to delete old world files from your bloated save if you wish to never return to that town in the exact state you left it in, but double check before trying. Always back up your save files before attempting anything that may alter them! Hope this helps either of you!
What if you delete previous town files from your saves folder? I’ve played my game for five generations now and still have files from university saves like three generations ago. Would this be safe to do? 11:38

Usually I do this little cheaty and I do travel somewhere with plus one and when I'm in new town I click to random npc to make them active and add my Sim to their household then move them where I want in this town then make my plus one active again to make them go home. Crazy but it works but still it takes some time and cheats :(
i’m having the disappearing UI issue even after letting the game run multiple in-game hours before going into edit town. i’ve tried three times now, each time letting the game run longer and longer and no luck. if anyone else has had this issue please lmk if you were able to fix it and how you went about that! :’) i’m only trying to pack four sims all from the same household if that’s relevant

i paused the game for like 5 min after i packed my family and i still don't have interface. same happend when i paused for a couple seconds upd: i left it for 20 min and still no interface
It allows you to save families across different households into one file instead of splitting it up, maintains jobs and career levels, and also saves each Sims' inventory. It's miles better than the EA game bin!
@@acottonsock saving sims to the game bin still saves their careers placements (so long as you move them to a town with the corrected rabbit hole), and inventories already. I just did it now. I use the NRAAS advanced to re-add sims back to the family tree if I end up moving the other families to the same new town later. I just don’t think it’s necessary tbh.

Mine was failing when I had like 15ish Sims. 😩 Maybe it was the large inventories I had in each Sim? I'm not sure!

Honestly with an okay pc with storage amount and ssd nraas traveler looks like a better and realistic option.

Yea you can actually! If you have testingcheats on, press ctrl then left click and it should remove the relationship entirely

If you have a taxi charge mod, you may lose a lot of money as they all get into the clown car. 😂
tbf moving and renting a moving truck is kinda expensive. ~it's realism!~

Traveler wouldn’t work in this instance because Porter severs all ties with family members you don’t take with you across towns

Question? On an empty world like Strawberry Acres. Do i just Create a sim then in Game do the unpacking? Or does it have to be a populated world?
I’ve never done this personally, but I would assume yes, make a sim in CAS first, place them down and load into them, THEN Porter unpack. 😊

Yes, as long as you don't plan to access them again, they are completely fine to delete old saves!

No because Sims 3 does not have the capabilities to run concurrently across towns

Youre not suppose to go to edit town when using porter. You click on the sims front door or you click on their map icon

I don’t see the point of Nraas Porter. You can already save families to the game bin and move them to a new town in the vanilla game.
