Fun fact: The NES was sold in India as the Samurai due to a partnership between Nintendo and a local businessman who wanted to bring the console to the subcontinent. That unfortunately did not pan out due to low sales; the Samurai brand was later reused for a line of Famiclones which used the Famicom cartridge form factor.
Let me honest most of the people in India didn't even knew about SNES. If you ask anyone most people say we played Mario contra means they played fake nes consoles and i also played back in 1998 till 2005 and in the name handheld we played brick video game Most Indians didn't knew existance of Gameboy. Yes PlayStation was popular but in shops nobody has Ps1 back then untill PS2 came in 2005 till 2012 in India that's why PlayStation is popular here on the other hand Xbox sales were very bad because there was no repair shops no warrenty. So technically Only Sony Playstation is legitimate available. Nintendo stuff is full of grey market from 90s till now. Most people here didn't knew there was Mario 64 exists in 90s untill we knew through internet.
Hi Karl, there are very and I mean very few people like Babu in this world in age, genuine, fun and passionate about video games. Everytime I step into a GameStop or any video games store, the people there makes me sick to my stomach, they're like robot selling you games, nothing more. Almost completely no interactions anymore, just strictly business. Your video rocks Karl, keep it up brother. from Toronto, Canada
my jaw dropped looking at those retro games. Great collection, he should have them refurbished and displayed. Those handhelds are GOLD!. SNES still one of the best consoles imo killer instinct was my jam. What a humble and kind man babu is.
There are similar small game shop owners and even watch repair shops that do repairs for Nintendo consoles. We even have Whatsapp and Discord groups where we buy and sell games, and group buy Switch Online memberships.

Hi Karl. I'm an nz'er too, living in Nepal. When I visited Delhi last I was intrigued by the arcade parlors there. Classic 80s & 90s games still rockin' it in small arcades same like back in the day. Snow Bros seemed to be one of the most popular games, bizarrely.
Babu is honestly such an inspiration. I just might make it a side-mission in my life to open up a family ran video game store and bring back the community aspect of gaming which has practically died off in the west.
LOVED IT, so great to see such shops still existing abroad ! In France locals shops have been gone from a long time, there are still supermarkets and a few chains but they don't have a soul or passionate owner like Babu ! I have a broken Nintendo NES and well there's no one to fix it near my place !
Really? my country malaysia, who people still consider 3 world country, we will buy ps4 or ps5 almost no people buy ps2 and ps3 unless for nostalgic reasons.
This is amazing! Seeing someone that passionate about video games while also being in the business of buying, selling, trading and repairing is a beautiful sight to see. I wish there were more of these kinds of stores in America, but sadly there's almost none left.
@@sumanjit100 I'd be surprised if there are any left. They'd have to sell often enough and well enough for the business to stay afloat what with the cost of leasing a store space, the (relative) lack of interest in retro gaming and the convenience of online/digital gaming.

I keep coming back to this video just to watch the parts where he offers to give the Switch as a gift. Hope that his shop does even better with the publicity from this video.
It's very rare to see that in India too coz most of the time they try to scam you if you're a foreigner starting from the time you land in the airport and take a taxi. He seems like a genuinely nice guy.
Growing up, gaming was always looked down upon by my parents. A machine whose primary job was to play games (a console) was therefore a taboo in my family. I only got into this hobby when I left home for college. Its good to see this man keep up this collection from the 80s.

@@jaymiegill9506 I'm guessing those tech support scammers ripping off the old and naive didn't get the memo, nevertheless Babu was genuinely kind hearted, much respect for him
@@techyrock true dat, didn’t think of them, but a lot of us are not like that
@@jaymiegill9506 well that's true not everyone is a scammer, i have a lot of Indian friends but my point is often most you'll find both good and bad people in one community, I mean where Babu is giving on the other hand those scammers are taking from the elderly, you guys should take a stand against those m*f*'s they are giving your people a bad name
@@techyrock To be fair, there are a billion indians in the world. You're bound to find a bunch of scammers and low life scum amongst such a large population. America. for example, has less than a 1/3 of India's population and look at how many murderers and outright bad people come from there.
Got really emotional watching this video, thanks for introducing Babu uncle to the rest of the world, a real OG of the gaming community in Pune, great video as always!
it's actually really incredible to see that retro gaming is still huge in other parts of the world. i can only imagine the journey some of those consoles have had.
Retro gaming is always the best
Babu is an absolute sweetheart. Very sincere and knowledgeable, and his video game collection is unbelievable.
lost for words what a genuine amazing guy I wish him and the family the best
Oh man... this video took me back to my youth and made me cry! India has some similarities with Brazil, and Babu's store it's one of them. Babu must be a lovely person, and he's clearly passionate 'bout gaming. Thansk for this, Karl!
This was literally nostalgia for me as well. I used to live nearby Babu's shop and it was me and my friends daily stop for gaming. 1hour 20rs playing Smackdown on a PS2. He is definitely the best dealer for games in Pune. Gald to see it on your TH-cam channel ❤️
Ok osama
@@akashbose9253 stop this shit GODSE
That store owner was an awesome guy......what a shop steeped in history👍👍
If I ever wind up in Pune somehow, I’m going to find Babu and help him organize his collection. He is so passionate about his games, and so caring. Thanks, Karl, for the great video
Babu is THE MAN! I love how he offered the OLED Switch as a gift, what a kind soul! Equally as amazing that you respectfully insisted on paying full price and supporting this amazing person! Love videos like this
This video was so cute! I love how passionate that man is about his business, he truly just wanted to share his love with him at the end to give him a discount on the console. What a legend! 🥺🙌🏼
The collection and the love for gaming. My eyes lit up seeing his whole game and watch collection. I love that he caters to both retro and modern gamers. This guy is a pure legend and dam he didnt want any more for a Switch OLED because he is that dam kind. Love these videos Karl!
Wow that's amazing. What a genuine guy, he even offered you to keep the Switch for free! Definitely pay him a visit again, I think you've made a good friend :)
Fun fact: The NES was sold in India as the Samurai due to a partnership between Nintendo and a local businessman who wanted to bring the console to the subcontinent. That unfortunately did not pan out due to low sales; the Samurai brand was later reused for a line of Famiclones which used the Famicom cartridge form factor.
interesting info. wish I''d known about the Samurai NES earlier. bet they are quite rare and expensive nowadays..
@@DecibelAlex I believe so, though the initial batch of Samurais were merely European-market NES consoles rebadged for the Indian market iirc.
Boy these things must be expensive for the average household.
Oh yes. Samurai was released in 1984 na?
Babu seems like such a nice person, great video felt nostalgia watching it.
What a bloke ! I hope this video brings him so much recognition that he can kick his feet up and just enjoy life, more than he already is.
His collection shows passion and then business ✌️
Exactly. Well said.
@@KarlRock Karl please visit places nearby pune. You will enjoy forts, etc. All the best for your pune visit🤟
my jaw dropped looking at those retro games. Great collection, he should have them refurbished and displayed. Those handhelds are GOLD!. SNES still one of the best consoles imo killer instinct was my jam. What a humble and kind man babu is.
It’s amazing to see his collection. I think he completed all gaming consoles exist in this world. Love from indonesia
What a truly genuine and nice man. For the records, these are the people that should be welcomed around the world, honest. hard working and friendly.
I'm excited for this video. I'm a Nintendo fan and I feel like it's very hard to find games and repair stuff in India
There are similar small game shop owners and even watch repair shops that do repairs for Nintendo consoles. We even have Whatsapp and Discord groups where we buy and sell games, and group buy Switch Online memberships.
@@Banzybanz I'm sceptical but tell me more
The happiness on his face while showing his old stuff was just amazing ❤
I had to jump on my phone just to comment about how beautiful and wholesome that interaction was. You guys are great. ❤
What a cool guy trying to give you the console. You are also a good dude for insisting to pay for it. Awesome vid
I love these Indian video game videos! Keep em coming Karl. It's adds variation to the other topics you cover on your journey through India. Keep it diverse like you do.. this way entertains us the best!
@Karl Rock so nice to see you in my hometown of pune... Babu is the king pin of gaming in pune and i was one of those to rent and buy consoles from him. His store is like disneyland for gamers
nice
I Love Pune, I Love India & I Love Indian People ! Namascar mother INDIA,. Namascar INDIA Mother of all spiritualities 🥰 Jai Jai India ! And Long Live to Mr. Babu !
All those handheld Nintendos. So insane! lowkey i was geeking out on this video😱💚 thanks for this gem!!
LOVED IT, so great to see such shops still existing abroad !
In France locals shops have been gone from a long time, there are still supermarkets and a few chains but they don't have a soul or passionate owner like Babu !
I have a broken Nintendo NES and well there's no one to fix it near my place !
Come to Babu & fix
In Brazil, this is considered almost current technology, no joke.
No wonder neymar is afraid to walk the streets.
Really? my country malaysia, who people still consider 3 world country, we will buy ps4 or ps5 almost no people buy ps2 and ps3 unless for nostalgic reasons.
@@bepopxxx Bruh! Who considers Malaysia as poor?

what is current technology in Brasil? i've been there for one year, you're not that bad...
Seeing those games and consoles all over the floor was a real eye opener!
This is so beautiful. Thanks so much for sharing. Protect Babu at all costs, this is the one of the coolest videos I've ever seen!
Someone should carry this mans legacy forward...
Unfortunately I don't think he's married yet
Maybe if he was in USA then maybe
Spent my childhood renting video games from babu. Thank you so much for this video!
This is amazing! Seeing someone that passionate about video games while also being in the business of buying, selling, trading and repairing is a beautiful sight to see. I wish there were more of these kinds of stores in America, but sadly there's almost none left.
Is there no repairing shop of old consoles now in America???
@@sumanjit100 I'd be surprised if there are any left. They'd have to sell often enough and well enough for the business to stay afloat what with the cost of leasing a store space, the (relative) lack of interest in retro gaming and the convenience of online/digital gaming.
Great video mate, i allways like the retro games consoles, congrats from Chile.
Thanks for showing us babu karl! He looks so passionate about those retro games. Next time i visit india, i will definitely visit his store and take him a g&w. Much love to him from the UK
Epic video. Two of my favorite things, indian travel videos and retro games. Edit: holy smokes, never seen so many game and watches in one place! That's a treasure trove!
Great video! Such nostalgia seeing those games and consoles again. Loved it. Babu is such a good soul like you Karl.
Better than DKOldies
lol fr
Gtfoh I've been hearing dkoldies is dookie
Much better
😂😂😂
First time it’s not the Indians doing the scamming
I live in Florida and the closest thing I have to this is in NYC. I love their gaming stores.
Loved this! I'm a big gamer and love seeing what's available in other countries. I would totally buy out Babu's store! He's got some great stuff
Wow!!!!! This was great. First of all as a retro game fan it was nice to see Babus collection. Secondly Babu seemed like a cool dude!! Awesome video. 👍
Very funny watching you have to just leave him with the money because he was so generous as to offer it for free LOL
Your channel has been a great watch and always showcases just how genuine and kind people are in India
imagine the box is empty lol
@@iMrNoah That's what I thought LMAO. Babu seems awesome, but maybe that was just a prop box for the video.
I keep coming back to this video just to watch the parts where he offers to give the Switch as a gift. These things aren't cheap and the fact that he's willing to just give it away to someone he barely knows just because they really enjoy games shows this guy's generosity. Hope that his shop does even better with the publicity from this video.
It's very rare to see that in India too coz most of the time they try to scam you if you're a foreigner starting from the time you land in the airport and take a taxi.
He seems like a genuinely nice guy.
Wow!!! Thanks for making this video Karl. Never thought such a store would exist in India. It is a treasure trove
Growing up, gaming was always looked down upon by my parents. A machine whose primary job was to play games (a console) was therefore a taboo in my family. I only got into this hobby when I left home for college.
Its good to see this man keep up this collection from the 80s.
Another super neat video Karl! Thanks for sharing dude! Glad to see you’re doing well!
Man I am in love with people that are into gaming (especially retro) and seeing babu sir's collection was like woah how on earth is this possible. I will love to go to his shop.Btw nice video karl bro
WoW Amazing video! I grew up in the 80s nes was my first video game system. I remember the small mom and pop video game rental places. Here in Canada they are all gone except for maybe a rare few who have been able to survive. There are some retro gaming sellers popping up in retro toy places but they are a thing of the past. It was so nice to see his place and hear his history. Where ever we grew up in the world we all can relate to Nintendo/ video games. Thanks for this great video
Wow, babu is a legend! What a cool dude. And an old school gamer from my era. of course, I started with Pong, then Atari 2600, then to Nintendo. Cool video ji, brought back some really cool memories for me. Shukriya. 🙏
That’s so beautiful man , i have lost hope finding people like this sometimes the world seems like a dark place but you and babu are a reminder that good people still exist ❤
Pretty cool. I've got nothing but love for the PS2 and PS3. Before the PS4, the PS2 was my favorite console of all time, then the SNES. And me, I started gaming on the Intellivision so yeah, been awhile.
That man is a true legend 👏 if I ever get the chance to go to India I'd love too visit that shop and the man him self
Loved your and Babu’s genuinely pure passionate love for gaming Karl ! ❤ It was as if Mr. Babu was taking us each and every part of his life and really it felt magical.
Thank you for sharing this person and his life, I never would have known or seen otherwise! I loved seeing his workshop. I must say that’s the most real “untamed” gaming collection I’ve ever seen. I like the sheer size of it all. All of that retro stuff must be very scarce in that part of the world. Very interesting to see how different cultures mix with things.
It's the first video from you I saw and I feel to say thank you for it. You and Babu seem to be really nice guys.
Fantastic video!!! What a truly passionate gamer. It’s so sad these kinds of stores are no longer a thing here in the states. Completely dominated by big chains and online businesses. I am old enough to remember such stores what a blast. Thanks so much.
In turkey every where game stores where like 100 to 500 people play everyday
Okay this video is gonna be 🔥
Anything with games I'm have to see!
You can tell that babu is super passionate in videogames! that’s an awesome gaming store!
