I can only imagine there's an extra, 8-12s on the board in prime conditions. Mercedes really owe it to the engineers to get this thing round in optimal conditions.
To all who are complaining about slow shifting. They purposly decided for single clutch gearbox, because it is ligther and smaller than double clutch gearbox AND mainly there is electric turbocharger, electromotors and clever tech and soft, which fills the gap during the shifting, so there is no power drop, so the end result is the same or even better as with double clutch gearbox. So from the lap time perspective it is quicker/better solution.
This was incredible, really. A production car taking the Flugplatz at 200km/h, hitting 330km/h on the straight, and lapping the Norschleife in under 6:40. Simply mind boggling!
It won’t be faster. Thing is a pain to handle especially around the Nurburgring. The Valkyrie has ground effect aerodynamics which don’t perform that well on a non smooth surface like the Nurburgring. It’s way too bumpy
The Huayra R will probably try the ring before the Valkyrie does since I’ve heard that Valkyries have some issues with breaking down at tracks. Once Aston Martin gets the minor reliability issues fixed, the Valkyrie could have great potential on the Nordschleife.

Great video and thank you for not editing it or adding some crappy music! Just honest ‘this is what it did’ footage 👍
Imagine how good the Mercedes AMG TWO will be 🤯
That'll be the W14 after Toto breaks the cost cap.
@@KitKitChanIsaac *misinterprets cost cap
This was incredible, really. A production car taking the Flugplatz at 200km/h, hitting 330km/h on the straight, and lapping the Norschleife in under 6:40. Simply mind boggling!
Insane feat of engineering and driving. Perfect car to drain all fluids and park in garage.
That, or, you know, actually drive it... :P
@@evanriegel1310 wishfull thinking
he just smashed the track. Awesome car, awesome driving.
Why do the shifts seem slow? It seems it takes a second after pressing the paddle for the car to change gears.
Will be interesting to see whether the time can be improved in spring or summer due to better temperatures and humidity.
No, now its perfect cause the temperatures are low, the engine has the max power and tires dont overheat

They have to redo this one, there is a lot of time left on the table due to the poor conditions.
Now wait until Aston decides to take the Valkryie to the ring
It won’t be faster. Thing is a pain to handle especially around the Nurburgring. The Valkyrie has ground effect aerodynamics which don’t perform that well on a non smooth surface like the Nurburgring. It’s way too bumpy
It's 600kg lighter XD
@@ithinkimlucas1366 and? It's 600 kilograms lighter. That is way more than necessary to make up for that.
The Huayra R will probably try the ring before the Valkyrie does since I’ve heard that Valkyries have some issues with breaking down at tracks. Once Aston Martin gets the minor reliability issues fixed, the Valkyrie could have great potential on the Nordschleife.
@@myusername3689 Huayra R isn't a road legal car though, so it's out of the picture.
He clearly knows this track like the back of his own hand but more than that he is just an excellent driver as well. He made all of it look effortless
The best of all... fast n grippy in corners n ripped it on the straights.. and the sounds too. Fantastic
Well done & congratulations to the AMG PETRONAS & Mercades-Daimler teams and whoever else is responsible for creating such a wonderful machine ❤️ it has so much more too give, you can tell through the photage. Amazing work by the driver, what a legend. What a moment to be alive. I hope to own one someday.
great lap at this conditions, great downforce and chassis behavior, very good driver feeling for changing grip level, impressive speed in many passages and while driving Klostertal in part load, I am wondering what lap time will be possible in best environment conditions..., 6:25, 6:20? great supercar and it was a long time to get there, congratulation to all AMG engineers involved, Tobias also will like it ;-) Br, Erik
With proper upshifts alone the 6:25 should easily be done. Those are horrible in this car.
@@Endorfinjunkie there is always some potential for improvements ;-)
The car definitely needs a 2nd run. This one felt like a lot was left on the table in terms of performance. I’m still happy it at least gets to claim the record before cars like the Valkyrie show up
From the moment this car was publicly announced I have been waiting for this video.
...and all in November. This was insane! Congratulations!

I love these videos but I wish there were cameras around the track to video the whole car not just the in car cam. I know it is an immense circuit but even an exterior shot or two would make these videos even better.
Wow great Lap by Maro in those conditions the sound of that Mercedes-Benz F1 Engine is crazy. The Acceleration and energy boost was insane coming out of corners with Traction Control.
Würde gerne mal wissen wie viel Zeit das langsame Getriebe auf der Strecke gekostet hat im Gegensatz zum Porsche PDK.
Der 956 hatte damals noch kein PDK. Das kam erst später.
Holy shit. That was amazing, brilliant driving and Incredible car!
He drove it very fast and amazing run from nurburgring. So awesome ❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉
That's a really fast laptime considering the damp conditions. This car is a beast, even though it's noticably heavier than it should be in the slow and medium speed corners, in the fast corners it's glued to the road. I wonder if there are 10 seconda left in optimal conditions and maybe a different deployment management for more top speed on the last straight. Amazing driver as well
@@renelammers813 Perhaps not 10 but 6 secs right off the bat with dry track and better temps, then 1-2 more for pushing harder in some corners. I'd say a 6:28 on a good day is definitely possible

I love Porsche too, but do you know how much faster 8 sec is on a track? It is like a lifetime. And this was on a damp track and you can see from the video how composed the driver was, meaning the car was very stable, meaning he could have gone way faster
@@CanyonsCarver 8 seconds on the nordsleife compared to a 2 minute track is like 2,5 seconds. For a sportscar with 6 cilinders I think that is pretty impressive.

Great lap considering the weight of the car, the slow gearbox and the less than ideal track conditions 👍I see big margin of improvement
That shift is horrible, almost gated manual like shift speed.
why the shifts are so slow?
@@stonecold91 Mercedes went for a more conventional gearbox, the car was taking too long to develop and getting too heavy, it is prove that it works so I don't blame them.
