I am trying out a different microphone today. Wondering, throughout this video, do you find the sound better or about the same as previous videos? Thank you so much.
I think you sound better, I would say maybe the sound is a little crisper. :) I noticed when you turned away from the camera that your sound stayed very good, not like other times when it would get hard to hear when you moved and turned away a bit. This one is definitely a better microphone. 🎤
Thank you so much Maria. It seems this microphone has made some improvements, however the volume is still at issue. I will continue investigating, in case I can find more that I can do.
Awesome finished objects (FO's)!!! Very nice! So happy for you in taking the plunge into the youtube channel of your own! I have not braved it yet! Nor do I think I even want to. People can be mean. I do not want to deal with it. So I choose not to. You did great! (This was my first time here; &, I was very impressed.) Keep up the great work!
Hi Sherry. Warm welcome and I am happy that you popped in today. Thank you so much for your kind, thoughtful comment. And thank you for encouraging me to continue! :-)
Cathy, your shawls look so pretty. I really can’t even choose which I like best of the two, because they both have elements I really like. And wow you really did a great job following the colors in the bird from Judy’s bird of the month. Now, oh your excitement is so evident and I couldn’t help but get excited with you when you showed your sweater. What an amazing accomplishment, you will look beautiful in it. I truly hope you wear it in good health for many years to come.
Hi Dianne. The shawls were both such fun to make. Unusual for me to work with "all neutrals" in projects and yet I really enjoyed doing it. Both designers are ones that I will choose patterns from in the future. And the sweater took such a while to make -- and I learned a lot along the way. Time well spent. Thank you so much for your well wishes while I wear it. :-)
Thank you so much! Judy helped me to choose the third colour. At first, I was going to just use 2 colours. She is so right, as the 3rd colour really looks lovely and adds a finishing touch to the trim.
Such a joy to spend my early Saturday evening with you. I really admire you and all other you tubers I follow for taking the plunge and videoing. Thankyou Cathy. Your sweater looks good. I’ve made a few and I just kind of wing it as I go! Xx
Hi Loraine. I am so happy that you join me on your weekends. Making videos and replying to comments is such a highlight of youtubers' week. Love it that you wing it when making sweaters, and hope that I will someday be able to do that with knitting. It will be so fun, someday to get creative with my knitting (winging it). Thank you for your kind comment about my sweater . Hope you have a good week. :-)
Hi Rosanna. Both of those shawls were so fun to make. Once I started, could not put them down. I look forward to seeing the sweater that you are working on (the stitch pattern and colour are both so pretty).
Hi Cathy. So nice to see you, always miss you during the week and look forward to Fridays. Now, I will go watch and listen. 💜🧶🤟🏼 That Berroco Chocolate Yarn looks just delicious!!
Hi Dianne. I am so happy for Fridays also. When I worked with the Berroco Comfort in a shawl, I was surprised by how nice that brand of yarn is to work with.
Thanks so much 😊I really enjoyed making the shawls and the sweater. Such a good feeling to complete the sweater -- I am so excited to be able to wear it!
Hi Judy. Thank you so much for your suggestions about the shawl. It made all the difference, and this is now one of my favorite shawls from this year! Planned, at first to save the sweater for December -- Christmas time -- and not sure that I can wait that long to wear it. lol
Wow, you can really whip up beautiful shawls in no time at all! I love them. Congratulations on your first knitted sweater. It looks great and I look forward to seeing you wear it. Red is such an uplifting colour, isn't it? The Berroco brown is such a lovely, rich colour.
Hi Alison. It has been fun to make a few different things during October and November. And I must admit, I'm excited to start making blankets and hats again soon. Originally, I thought I might "save" my sweater to start wearing during December as a Christmas-red one, but I don't think that I can wait that long. lol
Thank you so very much. Both shawls were fun to make. The white and brown really caught my eye and I might try that one a second time with sock weight yarn! (I'm thinking about it...)
Cathy, I have to say that you did good on you first knitted sweater. Its beautiful and you should be proud of your accomplishment. Also loved your 2 shawls. I have done the spring shower one twice. You got those colors down for Judys bird for this month. It has been nice getting to know you through the questions you have been answering. Looking forward to seeing you next week.
Thank you so much! I am looking forward to wearing the sweater (at first, I was going to "save it" for my December Christmas videos, but sooo excited, and don't think I can wait that long lol). The spring shower shawl is so pretty in worsted weight/#4. And I am thinking about trying it in a thinner yarn for a spring/summer shawl. Do you think that it might work in thinner yarn? I have been really enjoying getting to know you a bit too, in your comments to me. :-)
Congratulations on reaching 600 subscribers. Love EFA yarn, but really like the Berroco Vintage Chocolate. The brown is beautiful. Love both shawls. And the sweater turned out wonderful. Looks warm and cozy.
Thank you so much! I am very surprised that the channel is at 600 subscribers already. Really, did not expect that. The shawls were both so fun to make with patterns that were easy to follow. About the sweater, so grateful that I met my 2024 goal to make that sweater - with just a couple of weeks to spare (and you are right, it is warm and cozy, just in time for the weather to have turned cold here).
Hi Cathy. 🎉 love your first sweater! Very exciting! Your entry to Judy’s MAL is gorgeous as well, and all other makes are too. You’ve had a very productive week. I finished a sweater, a lingering WIP to wear to market tomorrow. Hopefully it’s not too hot 😂 on November 16 in Canada, hilarious. Safe travels tomorrow!
Hi Tami. Thank you so much! The sweater news is definitely exciting. And happy to hear that you have a sweater ready for tomorrow (the mornings have been sooo cold, and although no snow, it sure does feel like it!). Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow. :-)
Hi Bonnie. I am so happy that you suggested that I try a raglan style sweater. It was definitely the style to try first and I learned so much. Not tooooo much struggle -- just the right amount, so that I learned a lot and prepares me to try the next one. :-)
Congratulations on your first knit sweater! You really did a great job. The shawls are beautiful. I made my first one this summer. The Berroco yarn is a beautiful shade of brown. I look forward to seeing future videos.
Thank you so much for you kind comment about the sweater and shawls. Congratulations to you also, on making your first one! I am happy that you will be popping back to see more videos. :-)
Congratulations on finishing your sweater. It looks great. I find red at this time of year is especially nice. The chocolate brown Berroco is a gorgeous colour as well. I think the new mike greatly improved the sound quality. For me, you were much clearer
Hi Carol. Thank you so much for the kind comment about my sweater. I am looking forward to wearing it in December (or earlier, if I cannot wait that long... lol) It is good to know that you found the sound quality improved and was clearer.
Hi Cathy, the sound seemed about the same as usual to me. I love your shawls and the red sweater is adorable. Looking forward to seeing you model it. that Berroco brown yarn looks so rich and beautiful. I think that would be my choice if I had one.❤
Hi Christine. Thank you so much for letting me know about the sound. Both shawls were fun to make, and I will be checking for more patterns by both designers. My plan is to wait for December to wear my sweater -- and I have no idea how I am going to wait for the Christmas season... (Kind of want to wear it right now. lol)
Thank you so much. Both of these shawls had me hooked. lol Once I started, I wanted to keep crocheting them. Very nice patterns! Although the sweater has a few mistakes, I am so excited that I was able to finish it. Looking forward to wearing it in December -- my Christmas sweater!
Hi Cathy, what a treat! I've never had yarn from EFA (Expression Fiber Arts) although I have snagged some of their patterns. Your candy cane wash cloth came out very nice. Very lovely shawls and sweater!
Hi Dimitra. I am now hooked on EFA yarn. Much thanks to Judy! (I am waiting to see what sales are like there at Black Friday. I've been saving up and resisting buying elsewhere.) Thank you so much for the comment about my finished items. Last week seemed to be the week to complete things. Not this week -- so many wip's staring at me now, that I don't know where to start. lol
Hi Diane. Thank you so much. Not sure that I can wait until December to wear my sweater for the first time? It is my Christmas-timey sweater, but I'm pretty excited to wear it now. can't wait. Too many days to wait... lol
Oh, no. I'm sorry for the confusion -- you didn't miss a thing. About wearing it at Christmas -- didn't say in this video. It is just an idea I'm hoping to be able to wait long enough for (after a few people commented earlier that this was such a good colour for Christmas).
I love miss sassafrass, not just because it's my favorite colors but I'm still so honored you chose my suggestion for her name. I think the berroco is nice. I haven't had a chance to work with it yet, but i have some that i recently aquired. Your shawl is beautiful. Congrats on finishing your sweater!
That is wonderful that your name choice was miss sassafrass. And we like some of the same colours? I am very partial to corals and teals/blues. Very happy that you like the shawl and the sweater. :-)
Hi Maria. I am happy that you are here. Thank you so much for your comment. :-) The colour of the EFA yarn that I showed is called Perfect Moment. (I forgot to say that during the video. ooopsie)
I’m doing my first mosaic project right now! 😃 it’s part of the Mosaic Mayhem KAL hosted by YoungFolkKnits. Both those yarns are pretty, I like EFA yarn the best due to its color 😊 And your sweater looks great!
I'm encouraged that we are doing our first mosaic at the same time. (Today, I think is the day I caught onto how to do it, after frogging 3 times, I think that I've caught onto how to do it. Slow, but sure lol) For a first try, the sweater turned out. There are some mistakes, but I have to really look to find them, so the sweater is definitely a keeper. :-)
Sent you my make along photos made with some leftover cotton for my daughter. It’s some facecloths to go with her Christmas doily I made her. I know she will love the Christmas colors and she is having surgery next Friday so it is a perfect gift for her. 😊
I have heard good things about The Night Circus book. I am interested in reading it. Your shawls are gorgeous and so it the EFA yarn, Your sweater looks cozy. I have made some garments for my daughter. I measure her bust, the top of her shoulder to her wrist and from her armpit to her waist.
Hi Andrea. If you decide to read the book, let me know what you think of it. And maybe let me know if you think it's a scary one. (The book cover looks a bit like it might be scary?) This information about measurements that you note for sweater making is very helpful. Thank you so much! :-)
Q: Where is your favorite place to sit and knit or crochet? The sound is better. Your sweater looks great! Hope to join a crochet along next year, really busy these few months before Christmas! Congratulations on your growing channel!
Hi Rebecca. Thank you so much for your question! I am happy to hear that the sound is better. You are so right about this being a busy time, right before Christmas. If I had started this MAL in January, that would have been so much better...
Hi Cathy. The sound on your video might be a little bit clearer with the new microphone. Your shawls and sweater came out beautiful. The Berroco yarn looks perfect for Autumn.
Hi Debbie. Thank you for letting me know that the new microphone might have improved things. I am so happy that the sweater is ready to wear! So excited! And the shawls were like potato chips patterns, once I started them, just wanted to keep going. Some patterns are such fun to crochet!
I am trying out a different microphone today. Wondering, throughout this video, do you find the sound better or about the same as previous videos? Thank you so much.
I think you sound better, I would say maybe the sound is a little crisper. :)
I noticed when you turned away from the camera that your sound stayed very good, not like other times when it would get hard to hear when you moved and turned away a bit. This one is definitely a better microphone. 🎤
I’m sorry to say that sound remains difficult. I wish I could hear you better. I struggle even with turning the volume up quite high.
Thank you so much, Dianne. Appreciate you letting me know.
Thank you so much Maria. It seems this microphone has made some improvements, however the volume is still at issue. I will continue investigating, in case I can find more that I can do.
Is berroco a name of yarn? I was really interest in knowing what you do with your makings, Do you sell the m? You make beautiful shawls.
Awesome finished objects (FO's)!!! Very nice! So happy for you in taking the plunge into the youtube channel of your own! I have not braved it yet! Nor do I think I even want to. People can be mean. That shawl for Judy 's cal is over the top and your color choices are right on. I love it❤
Thank you so much! Judy helped me to choose the third colour. At first, I was going to just use 2 colours. She is so right, as the 3rd colour really looks lovely and adds a finishing touch to the trim.

That shawl turned out really well. The addition of the dark brown really worked well. Your sweater looks great!

Beautiful shawl Cathy.

That Berroco yarn is gorgeous!
Hi Heather. I am so happy that you like the yarn. :-)
EFA has such beautiful yarn. Heading over to view your first video.
Hi Mary. It surprised me, how nice the EFA yarn is "in person". I am looking forward to their Black Friday sales. :-)
