    I was listening to a podcast that said, “it’s important to live life by design rather than emotion. Basically, sticking to a routine is what allows us to be the healthiest version of ourselves (especially when you're fighting these demons ex. OCD for me).
    What’s worked for me is practising mediocre consistency. Now I try to put in consistent 40-60% effort into my habits (ex. journaling/working out) - to make sure I do it I began recording it and posting it on my youtube channel.
    Because historically I have a habit of going too hard, not being able to sustain the Herculean effort, giving up and hating myself. So now I’m trying to give a small-ish, consistent mediocre effort everyday. And its crazy how it adds up.

    • @claraoso
      @claraoso ปีที่แล้ว +20

      Mediocre consistency - love it!

    • @citrinedreaming
      @citrinedreaming ปีที่แล้ว +17

      I love the phrase “mediocre consistency” - my little perfectionistic brain needs the balance provided there. It’s not about 100% good 100% of the time, it’s about putting in what another creator (Connor Miller) called sustainable loops that enable consistency

    • @justinsheldon5887
      @justinsheldon5887 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      I’ve heard something similar before that really resonated with me: consistency trumps intensity. I use that phrase when I feel like I’ve done the minimum on something or in some way did less than my best. It helps me to turn something that could be taken negatively into something positive and motivating.

    Summary for my own notes. Here are some good daily habits:
    1) Add buffers in planning
    2) At the end of the day, take 5 minutes to make a small todo list for tomorrow. That way you stop thinking about unfinished tasks.
    3) Gratitude journal

    This video is one of these reasons why PUL is so special. The content is so thoughtful and packed with value - it's really about habits for success but the approach is so practical and honestly different than most yt video you see on the same topic. Really awesome to watch, Sadia. I have the opposite of the planning fallacy. I often worry that tasks will take a really long time and thus end up trying to avoid them when , in reality, they take much less time than I was thinking they would once I finally get started ! 😅

    Thank you so much, Sadia ❤️ I love these videos about habits/life and they help me a lot, even while watching I already feel more focused and inspired! I already use the strategy of moving incomplete tasks to the next day's To Do list so I can wind down for the evening and it really helps. In fact, writing daily and weekly To Do lists on my phone's notes completely changed the game for me: I feel less anxious because I don't have to remember everything all the time - I can just check and tick it off as I go - and I see all the small victories to give me a feeling of achievement, instead of falsely assuming I haven't done anything, like before. Your channel always helps me to want to become a better/happier person 🤗

    Love this. I relate to the 'getting all the urgent but non-important stuff done' then not having time to get the important stuff done situation. I sometimes liken this to 'big rocks, small stones'... if you fill your jar with he big rocks first (all the important stuff) then it's easy to add the small stones in after as they fall in and around the big rocks, but if you fill the jar with the small stones first, the big rocks don't fit!

    I love Andy's voice, too! And in general I love headspace. I have been using it for 4 years or something. And although I'm not always consistent on meditation itself, their sleep section is amazing. I have trouble falling asleep sometimes or even waking up in the night and their sleep casts just take away the pressure of not being able to sleep and just to listen something that calms you down. I think my favorite exercise are the breathing exercises, they really help when I feel like I have excess energy in my body like anxiety or just a restless mind. It's not the cheapest, however, if you're a student you can get a huge discount which is what I did this year :)

    Thank you for considering the speed of speech factor and keeping it slower in this video. I was able to hear each and every word and had time to understand at the same time. Much appreciated ❤️

    Just recently discovered this channel and Sadia - completely by accident, but glad I did! FWIW, I'm not a vegan myself or a total "minimalist" in the popular definition, but love her approach to this channel - really well-researched, a LOT of education built-in but still beautifully shot and interesting to watch. Love her work!
