    I actually started to think that maybe the best solution is not to add any gas springs/struts or any springs... As those will add force to some direction by either pushing or pulling.
    If one wants to dampen the motion, then it is better to install just the two pipes for each axis (in M2 case one for pitch, one for roll) where the pipes goes inside each others, so example other has outer diameter of 25 mm and other has inner diameter of 26 mm so this way there is a 1 mm cap in diameter, 0.5 mm all around.
    And now just fill the cap with dampening grease. It does not have any force in it, only some resistance for small movement, but will allow the force to continue. Balancing the surface area in both for the mass in motion, the stress to motors should be negligent as player body mass is still heavier. The purpose would be just to smooth that small slack experience.

    Nice! Can you update where you got them from, part numbers, etc?

      I Used gas struts bought from ebay: (Replacement 400N Gas Struts w/ 10mm Eyelet Ends (Pair)), some rose joint ends M6 - (Oscillating Ball Joint Female Rod End Bearing M6) and 6mm bolts and penny washers.
      Having said that though, i would recommend getting DOF Reality's official gas strut addons instead as these are evenly spaced and better balanced. I originally only used my gas struts on the front which worked but drove the motors harder. This video was made before an official solution existed.

      @@GWiz79 Hi, it is interesting what I heard about. Your comment is now 2 years old, but I am considering to buy the M2, but really don't like the idea as the SFU gearbox upgrade has been out for some months now, that they have done nothing for their cheaper models, and as my purpose is to get the platform for helicopter flying, that is mostly smooth changes so it would be heavily affected by this.
      But to the point, in a another recent video about the SFU gear upgrade, the DOF told to the owner of P6 as it was the H6 upgrade to P6 with SFU gears, that they don't need anymore use the gas struts that belongs to H6 to raise the weight limit, as the SFU gears are not capable to lift far more heavier loads without assistance of gas struts.
      So I was like questioning that it should make sense in a way, when they are lifting the whole platform as it is less weight to the gimbal or in this case all the motors. But then in the movement phase when rolling or pitching as the other side has as well force to push platform away from balance, but on opposite side there is force to resist that rolling push, and player mass is adding to it,
      So in this case it would be 40 kg force on left side pushing to roll to right, where 40 kg force is countering it by pushing back to left, so in equal force both should be balanced, so zeroed out. So only mass that is wearing the right side, is the chair + pilot mass. This if course that the gas strut force is equal and center to axis of rotation.

    IS the dampers that they provide on their site not good ?

    • @GWiz79
      @GWiz79  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The dampers they provide are good and I have now changed to use them as they provide 3 gas-struts spread evenly (for the P6/H6) which gives better movement than only using them at the front. This video was made before DOFReality had come up with a solution to the shaking.

      How wide is the front base of the P3/H3? The pictures on their website the rear looks wider. The max space I have for the front base is 28”, or 711 mm. Rear isn’t a problem for me.

      Yes, I've been using mine for months without issue. There was an issue recently with a bad batch of sensors but I think this has now been resolved. (Didn't affect me). I've been very happy with my purchase, especially after adding a Puresim G-Seat, it nicely fills any missing details. Once you get one upgrade though, there's always something else to hanker after!
