When Captain got me started in FPV a lot of BETAFPV items was at such a low cost I thought they would not last a week. I was very wrong now 50% of FPV products I have are BETAFPV. Never had one single problem.
    Thanks Captain

..and by 4:45 yu're up to $200 ...but if you're truly a beginner, and you want crisp FPV ..at an affordable price ..pick up a "Skyrider" Thunderbird ll (test market deal , by SYMA)
.. 30 to $50 typically Has long fly time..crisp FPV and anti crash assist feature .. Plus flies in class 4 and above wind & even flies in the rain !!! (we picked ours up from out of the Creek , and kept on flying!) And a $200 $300 price range ...I would get the JJRC EpiK5 or the SG9S6 pro 2 ... Both are amazingly stable flying drones easy to learn crisp FPV flies in the rain flies in high wind has auto return auto everything It is more reliable than any other drone on the market currently in that price range and if you're going to spend much more ...then , you might as well go with DJI who has the Experience and aftermarket support with Proven technical Superiority over these other "wanna-be manufacturers"
Or you can learn the hard frustrating and expensive way... like I did

BetaFPV makes low cost things which is a good thing for beginners...
I was unaware that their goggles costs no more than 49 dollars!
That is a good price for sure.
Lite Radio 3 is nice one too with that price tag!
    21:22 True
All the other things about receivers and transmitters were pretty confusing and complicated as I haven't started to buy and learn about all other FPV stuffs yet, I am good in RTF kits only lol.
Well, looks like BetaFPV's Meteor is a durable tiny FPV drone that can be used to have fun indoors!
It is also not very costly as it is of 120 dollars.
Mavic 3 wide angle lens alone costs more than 180 dollars and one can buy starter FPV gears at that price!

Hey Cap, that was great. I got started into the FPV hobby with BetaFPV equipment all round... except for the goggles. That is one complaint I have; they have stripped down the new versions and the big thing for me is that they no longer have DVR, a big thing for me. I ended up buying the iFlight DVR goggles. It's an old model, but works great! Otherwise, I do like BetaFPV, and may end up having to do some more investing, as got in just before ELRS became a thing. 😄 Oh well.
    Keep up the good work!

I have a DSMX DX-6i and it’s a pretty good radio. I couldn’t drop $450 on the DX-9. My fixed wing buddies all run them, but I just couldn’t pull the trigger. Then came the DX-12 and DX-20. Not sure how they can afford it.
Open protocol seems to be the better way to go. Horizon Hobby just thinks too much of their radios.

    • @CAPTAINDRONE798

Yes, chip blades should be changed on a CAMERA drone as they cause vibrations. On an FPV drone, you can often fly with chipped blades but it does effect performance.

Just got my DJI fpv flying, no M mode yet LoL. The fact that fpv isn’t just about flying, it’s downloading firmware on computer then updates from computer to drone controller goggles. How do you want your controller switch layout, download more stuff ( I think betaflight ). So Ready To Fly like DJI fpv is helpful, so where your FPV series.

    • @CAPTAINDRONE798
      @CAPTAINDRONE798  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Correct. If you buy the ELRS radio, you can use it with any simulator and you don’t need the ELRS module. Since there is no screen on the radio to pick settings you would have to use the BETAFLIGHT CONFIGURATOR software to make settings. I have not used that configuration software so I can’t comment on it.

In the FPV hobby there are two items that pilots spend plenty of money on and that is the radio they use and the FPV goggles. Your DJI FPV Goggles will work in the RC FPV Hobby, as long as you change the setting in the goggles for the FPV hobby comms. For a radio, buy yourself the BLACK DJI FPV radio. Then, just buy any FPV drone of any size that has a VISTA camera system in it.

I ordered the tinygo and when it finally came in it was broke.i really wanted to start fpv but I am so frustrated I'm thinking about just getting another ground rc.i guess all the different drones and all the information on it all is a little overwhelming to me

Quite perplexing to say the least... In my opinion your 1st GPS drone should be the JJRC EpiK5 2K ... Is "peppy" but has rock steady stable flight & hover ..Very crisp FPV (with the "required" phone OS specs) .. All the features, waypoints, circle me ect. .. A realistic 14 to 17 minute flight time .. With about 300 yd distance .. After market support , and parts available .. Best of all it's around a $140 to $170
Or , for not much more money but a LOT more features (and a little more flight time) , with 3 times the flight distance , would be the: ZLRC SG906 Pro (or Pro 2) BOTH , are very tough , durable, well constructed drones And both are under the $200 price range ..if you're going to go over that , then you might as well start considering the DJI packages , which have dropped substantially in price !!!
      good luck !
      Dave

I'm from the old school where we used to land FPV drones by sliding in to home base. There was a massive market at that time for skid plates for drones.

Great video Uncle Steve. I wish this came out just two weeks ago. I’m very new to the hobby and I made the mistake of ordering an elrs controller and a elrs nano module. I wanted to have many options so I should of ordered the controller frysky. So now I have to return my controller and wait for them to switch it. I wish Betafpv had a phone number or at least I can’t find it if they do. If anyone knows a phone number for them I’d appreciate it. Thanks again great video.

Also Albert Kim in his video has research and come up with different PIDS for the beta fpv 65 as it is very hard to control indoors for new pilots. You need to do your research on this before posting your review.

Butch? How old are you again as anyone reading your comment is gonna think you're just a kid that other kids pick on because of being focused on issues that are not prevalent (i.e., that know it all kid that brings up points that are not relevant to the situation).

  • @ntorres1966

Lastly the other thing is that that the receiver on the betafpv65 can’t be updated to the recent elrs 2.0 which if they try it won’t do it Start doing the research before putting out your videos.

beta fpv delivered badly soldered elrs tx and rx, terrible quality control. The year before I had ordered those brand new transmitters and 2 months later I had still not 2 transmitters till I got a mail that they will not ship it and finally got a refund but 2 months after november 2020 meant I had to pay a lot, awfull lot more to get a jumper t-lite set.
I do no longer trust them. Mad's RC has reviewed the betafpv elrs stuff and his were also poorly made, did not work due to same reasons
smd components not aligned well and then on top not soldered well
Cheap can be a dangerous choice if the quality goes faster down than the price.

    • @CAPTAINDRONE798
      @CAPTAINDRONE798  2 ปีที่แล้ว

They are very popular and used all over the world with no issues. Plenty of reviewers who love them who have gone into great detail showing them off. Also when you watch MAD's RC keep in mind that no matter what he shows, it always sounds bad as he likes to go into great detail, so keep an open mind. The BETAFPV items are the BUDGET line (super inexpensive) so you'll never get FATSHARK quality.

One thing that you left out was that the jumper t lite needs to have the module bay added on. This is very misleading as new fpv people will assume that they can just buy the jumper t lite and add the module. You forgot to mention that dude.
