definitely the best free metal tone i've come across so far. kinda crazy that you can get a better metal tone with free plugins than with bias fx and amplitube.
Bias FX video coming very soon, I think it's underrated
Amplitube is amazing IMO. But the cabs sim is the problem you get boxy tone from that, use your own IR and you get killer tone

Thanks for the tutorial! I was having problems getting Emissary to stop being so gainy/washy even with my horizon overdrive pedal (fantastic pedal btw) doing most of the work with the Emissary gain turned down quite a bit. This was a lot of help.

I really like the trick with a high self to boost brightness after the high frequency notch cuts I tried it and it added just a little more air to it, cheers!

Thanks! I'm hopeless when it comes to mixing a good tone. I even bought the elite licence and the metal expansion pack for bias fx 2 and still can't get better than a decent tone so this video will definitely help.

TDR Nova can be used as a dynamic EQ and multiband compressor, so it would cover all the needs you might have on the bus. I never tried the Tubescreamer thing, but I do run my guitar through Distorque's Rangebastard, which is a free Dallas Rangemaster Treble Booster simulation, before hitting the amp. NadIR also comes with two Fredman micing presets out of the box.
Didn't look into Nova that much, might need to check it out
@@KeyanHoushmandLive TDR Nova is amazing for getting super tight chugs/palm mutes. A little boost at 3200 adds clarity as well.
I would love to see your take on a metalcore sound along the lines of august burns red or as i lay dying. But really not just a rhythm tone but also a lead tone. Especially leads tones like august burns red.

@@KeyanHoushmandLive Agree. Windowed FL interface(and lack of easy access to crossfades) drives me nuts sometimes. Especially, if you have a lot of plugins and instruments.
But I really love piano roll in FL. It's magnificent. I also started writing music with FL(mostly metal), and I don't want to spend too much time to switch to another DAW.
Any chance you could do an axe fx version of this and share a patch? I happened to stumble onto one of your videos last week, good stuff man and lots of info.

Are you able to do a video for a Drop C 6 string? Im having troubles finding a good modern 6 string metal tone i have tried amped roots free ,the ignite emmisary amp i was looking at the 14.99 audio assault one but its no longer free and i want to research a bit more before i spend mobey and waste it . I have have a bunch of free seacow irs, got the ggd zilla cabs vst for irs , the catharsis irs and the ML soundlabs "greatest ir in the world". I just cant figure out a great sound like alot of others have achieved in their youtube videos. i followed this video and set everything up before realising you were using a 7 string hahaha so needless to say it doesnt sound good .
Is it possible to get the stems for those riffs? So I can match it to that as I'm struggling to get the tone sounding as good as yours.

I'm pretty new to this stuff so I apologize if this is a silly question, but how does the second plugin chain on the guitar bus work in conjunction with the first chain? Is there a way to set this up in reaper?
Do you mind doing a quick video on how you set up to record and how you manage playback. Do you plug straight into the computer and playback real time with your speakers using the plugins?

Hey man great tutorial, how come you didn't use TDR Nova as the Dynamics processing for the palm mutes? It has a better interface than the Gmulti and saves you having to use another vst.

Awesome video, i just have a question. The tone came out pretty good, with exception of the sound of the lowest string when picked, it doesn't sound heavy enough and kind of just sounds like a string being played with distortion if that makes sense. Im a total noob so i dont know how to word everything properly. Im using a 25.5" scale, 6 string guitar tuned to drop C, Active Ibanez pickups. Any advice is helpful, advice for me, thanks.
