    Russian engineering!!!! When I first got my Mosin Nagant, I was trying to looking for a tool or something to disassemble the gun. And turns out, the tool to disassemble the gun is the bolt... Russians know how to make a stuff with minimum materials..

      I guess we're all gonna ignore Fedorov and Degtaryev, Jesus Christ imagine field stripping and maintaining those fucking things. Bolt actions are one thing, but when it comes to modern rifles, the AK and AR platforms are spot on. A lot of over engineered shit has come and gone while those two remain King of the hill

    The plastic in the sheath is to protect you from electric shock if you need to cut electric wires in the field. It also stops the sheath from making a clanking sound when you need to be quiet.

    I have one of these my father gave me. He got it during Desert Storm. An Iraqi soldier had taken his underwear off, and tied it to his rifle, waving it over his head, along with dozens of others doing the same. It is how they surrendered. The weapons were confiscated, and all of the bayonets ended up as war trophies. I actually have 2 of them.

    Hello im from Serbia (ex Yugoslavia), you can use that bayonet as a hammer by putting the ring in the scabbard of the blade, and use the scabbard as a handle. You just must be careful not to hit your self with the blade when you hammering.

    You should start doing more "How to make" videos again, they were really great, and i have done them all. If you would allow a little suggestion, you should try making a bulletproof vest. They are fairly easy to make, but a great thing for SHTF/Survival.

    Putting a pipe over the sheath or the handle when using it for wire cutters will give you more power (same idea when changing a tire- put it right over the tire iron & you can put a lot more muscle & weight behind it in a safer way).

    • @FishFind3000
      @FishFind3000 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      I carry a Leatherman wave on my hip everyday it's super handy and I can't believe how I could have lived without it. If you get the EOD black coating it will leave some extra so you need to wipe it down once you get it or yours hands turn black but once a the extra is cleaned off from manufacturing it's perfect and doesn't come off at all. Not even the saw blade has lost its coating and I have been using it heavily over the last few days. Also it will be slightly thought from the coating but if you get the regular silver I don't think you will have any problems what so ever. I also have the molle sheath and it works great. It has a pocket inside so you can get the extra bit set if you want.

  • @bananabong4911
    @bananabong4911 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The steel end cap is actually made for hammering. On the type 1 bayonet you just had a round end of the grip, so when soldiers used it as a hammer they broke the grip of their bayonet, that's why they added the steel end cap on the type 2. Also, since both parts of the wire cutter are not isolated, it will produce a bright flash and a short circuit that could melt away parts of the bayonet if you cut an electrified fence with one positive and one neutral wire. I read about this in a NATO-manual some time ago, but i did not try this with my own AK-bayonet, so i cannot confirm it.

    People often forget that spears are the most versatile melee weapons. They require very little technique, and offer great range. The only reason people stopped using them is because feudalism changed standard battles into sieges.

    It's funny how Americans actually copied the Soviet design when it comes to bayonets. The M9 bayonet has all the same features, albeit bigger and more Rambo-ish.

    • @MrFRIINGE
      @MrFRIINGE 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      MrAspentree Probably because it was an effective design. A good idea is not overlooked just because someone say's it is copying.

    • @MrAspentree
      @MrAspentree 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      PMC I agree. It's just funny how the American armed forces are always portrayed as the superior force in every way, yet they quietly and thoroughly copied many elemental things, like the bayonet, from the "backwards and underfunded" Soviets.

    • @thebeyondwordser
      @thebeyondwordser 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      MrAspentree thats because the soviets worked in different ways. In America, a company comes up with an idea and tries to sell it to the army. This can be a great advantage or disadvantage, because its out of the box thinking. the product might be a huge innovation or a glorified paperweight. Soviet tech is designed based on basic needs and most cost effective. a study is done to find what a tool needs to do, and how much it should the cheapest product that meets the most requirements is chosen. both systems have their merits, but the american system lends it self to "ripping off" and "copying" of ideas more than the soviet.

      +Sam Drysdale because the left is horrified of bayonets. That's the reason that people have paid $100 to gunsmiths to weld-up and remake lugs back on their rifle; which were removed off for import. Mine has the lug and I have a bayonet for no real reason really. The same goes for suppressors. Those are not obsolete like bayonets, but since liberals tried to ban them - they have become more popular. Before Clinton's ban, you didn't see all the scary looking suppressors with teeth on them and shit. I don't like those, but I have to admit, I want a modern vortex flash suppressor and liberals not wanting me to have it, makes it easier to over-spend getting one, just like wasting $20 +shipping on a bayonet.

    I got a bayonet, medium condition, blade is chipped but it works well, $25, Russian made and combat issued.

    Hey Kgbsurvivalist, I just got one of these bayonets and it is rather dull but is effective. However I would like it to be sharper for finer work. I have tried multiple sharpeners and have had very little success. How would you suggest sharpening it?

    Wow, I was looking for a black bayonet with a metal pummel, in particular I was considering a vintage east German version. I had not heard of the type 3 which is MUCH cheaper for essentially the same item and color. Thanks for pointing that out! PS: Do you open your kitty's tuna snack with the bayonet?

    Almost no one used bayonets in the days of flintlock weapons.
    Bayonet charges only ever happened a handful of times.
    By the time the American Civil War rolled around, bayonets only accounted for like 1% of casualties.

    Why not put the circle that goes on top of the muzzle device into the sheath and use it like a hammer? That's an actual use of it.

    Well, as humanity is, we always think, you know how we made that rod with the ball coming out really fast, well, how do we make that even more dangerous

    Leave it to the Soviets to include a bottle opener in their standard bayonet scabbards :P

      The Israelis had a similar idea, they just put the bottle opener on the rifle!

      Loremaster Yn'Taris the South African R-4/R-5 assault rifle bayonet also had a bottle opener.
      (I think that the South African rifle was based on the Galil).

    If you put the ring into sheath u`l get a knife as a hummer and sheath as a handle. Есть ещё пару приколюх, но по английски расписывать лень.

    What he didnt mention is that steel quality is not so good. It is very brittle, standing on these is a good way to fall. But for only 9 dollaz?

    can someone tell my where my akm type 1 bayonet comes from?
    its black not wood looking like a russian one (plastic). it has a gray leather thing to put it on your belt and a brown rope around the holding area (bad English pls understand, its so you dont lose the knife during a fight if you are swinging it)
    i thought of east germany or poland. but they are a bit different.
