Hi Simon… great film as always and nice Linnets 😉 congratulations on your new little princess and the Tysties we’re fab. Look forward to the next one… regards from Belgium 👍
Some days you get the bear and some days the bear gets you. Still, it was a good video and I'm glad I didn't miss it. Thanks for all your effort, Simon.
Great footage of the Black Guillemot there Simon would have been well pleased to have come away with that clip of vid. only. As you say you've got to be out there for the possibility of that one time shot. Enjoyed the video cheers. 👍
New subscriber to your channel from the other side of the hill (Yorkshire) and I'm hooked. Im beginning my wildlife photography journey after a being lucky enough to capture footage of local deer and herons one morning and immediately saying to myself I want more of that. Your videos are really informative and great to watch. 👍
Congratulations, Grandad. Yet again, another great video of a quick outing. As you say, you don't have to be a major planned trip. To get some good shots.
HaHa, it's like looking in a mirror mate, our long suffering wives!!! If you get the chance Simon Newburgh beach just outside Aberdeen for Eider duck, loads of them a couple of metres away and very tolerant. Lovely group of shots and stunning film mate👍👍
🤣🤣Cheers Scott, yeh I'll bear that location in mind. Love trying to catch the Eiders when theyre feeding on the crabs, shame theyre so twitchy on this coast. All the best, Si 👍🏼
Nice one mate! Some cracking birds and regardless of the weather the boy did well! I especially like seeing the plover amongst the Sea Pinks. Congratulations on becoming a Grandad! Top stuff mate, not been but might venture there one day! Top vlogging as always. Rich 👌
Thanks Rich, the Plover are ace arent they. Tons of character, if you get the chance mate get yourself over there. I think youre gonna have enough to explore where youre going though mate 😆 Thanks for watching pal, all the best. Si 👊🏼
Congratulations Grandad ! "It's all about perspective" - love it !! Some great shots in horrible conditions. Over in my part of the world we have quite a lot of eider around the coast and they aren't usually that timid of humans - they'll let you get quite close without the need for low-viz and this time last year I was taking them from less than 25 feet on Loch Fleet.
yes another cracker Simon , I purchased one of those large mats off you brilliant quality can highly recommend one for anyone looking for a good quality mat 👍👍
Very nice shots and footage. First rule of photography, to get the shots - bad or good - we have to show up. Not gorse but here on Vancouver Island we have a similar plant called Scots Broom. It’s invasive and not native to the island and a nasty problem - it’s everywhere. An idiot British army captain, Walter Grant, introduced it to his garden in the mid-1800s. Since then it’s spread over the entire island, parts of the lower mainland and into Washington State. It blooms through May-June and the pollen drives those with allergies, like my son, completely crazy.
A great selection of birds there Simon, I would be happy with that. I love watching shore birds stretch as well, so comical! Do you find vibram soles to be slippy on the rocks? I have. decent pair of walking boots, but any rocks which are remotely rounded by footfall/weather and I have to tread very carefully, i believe the soles are made more for longevity than traction/grip
I find the Vibrams are as good as can be expected on wet slippery rocks. I think with most footwear on this terrain youve got to have your wits about you 👍🏼
Simon - honest question. Just starting my wildlife photography business. I want to move up from my Canon 100-400 Is USM II with 1.4 x converter. In your opinion, what would be a better move - a 100 - 500 ISM US ii or a 300mm f2.8 IS USM . Thanks. Really value your opinion.
@@simoneardley I shifted here where I live with my new wife right on the border in Newry. My country of origin is New Zealand and im 64 years young. I had never been out of New Zealand until I shifted here two years ago. I thought New Zealand had loads of windy and wet days but this place is in its own class lol The weather here is not extreme like it often is in New Zealand, it's just constant with heavy cloud most days of the year. I would not say it rains here often, most of the time its just drizzle, but it drizzles day after day after day for month after month lol I found it a real challenge to shoot in such low light conditions most of the time. But you know what? I now prefer low light over cast days to blazing sunny days as you can keep shooting all day long and we have wonderful noise reduction proggies out there now to help us. I also think we get the best colour from our wee birdies in subdued light. It's just getting a fast enough shutter speed for those twitchy birds that never sit still. I have learned to love it here with its crappy weather and I have so many new bird species to still photograph before my card is full, my battery flat and I run out of time. I just need two of me lol
Than you Simon, took a lot of ideas and inspiration from that excellent video ...
Congrats on becoming a granddad. Great film as always. All the best. 👍📷😎
Thanks Rob 👍🏼

Any particular reason this is only available up to 720p?
Sorry but an upload issue, not sure what went wrong 🤔
If you didn't go out in the rain here in Northern Ireland you would have to stay home 360 days a year watching youtubers lol
Thats not a million miles from the truth Tony, great place though 👌🏼📷👀
