Simon thank you so much for sharing this beautiful beautiful wildlife! I live in Waco Texas USA and I am wheelchair bound so I can not get out to the beautiful wildlife places you get to. I really love your incredible videos and I always look forward to seeing them! Thanks so very much. Rob.
You were definitely 'doing oreyt today' lol. Must have been making a racket for you to hear it Si lol 😂. Loved that pic too of the fox cub under the Bracken. One result after another, top day or what. Cracking footage as always . Atb Rick n Billydog
Nice to see you settled , and enjoying wales. I guess your mid, hopefully you will see a honey buzzard soon, as there are a few around , and now nesting
Beginners luck 😀that was your reward for climbing the hill on that bike which I thought was electric ! Gary Gough did a video "beginners guide to e bikes Cyrusher trax " might be worth a look for you!! Great location you have and fairplay you for reading the land so well !! great to see you using the thermal what a great piece of kit !! super abundance of wildlife !!
Cheers Pat, I wish it did have a motor sometimes!!🤣 Keeps the old ticker in good health though😃 Great when i saw the heat signature from the Redstart nest, great piece of kit!!👍🏼
Hi although not a fat bike I bought two Trek Rail 9.8 e bikes earlier this year for me and my wife and they are brilliant and will go anywhere. Another great video.
Have a look at Swytch bikes to convert your own. Maybe a problem in that those tyres will create a lot of friction but get in touch with them. Good luck.
Great video Simon I know what you mean by feeling like you could live there forever we moved from a pit village in the NE of England to the sticks in Cumbria in the middle of nowhere I was just a birder back then no photography had a private wood I got permission to wander about in buzzard nests badger sets all sorts missed opportunity there, enjoyed the vid awsome stuff ,some nice shots at the end there to 📸👍
Wow! Brilliant Simon. When I saw the vlog was 55 minutes long. I thought great! If I'm not in the field, I can spend an hour at home ,with a nice brew, watching what you do. Pied flycatchers in the garden!,wow! bet you never thought you'd saying that a few years ago. Like you said they are about in Lancashire, but harder to find. You're living the dream Simon. Good luck to you. It's amazing how many heavenly places are on nearly everyone's doorstep. I live in the middle of an industrial and residential area. And yet I've found badgers, foxes ,deer and at least 60 species of birds, within a quarter of a mile from home. Love it! It's my heaven. Love your video's always look forward to watching them. Don't ever stop 👍👏. Can't wait for the redstart/ pied flycatcher vlog. Ps, I must get up to the lakes to see how my nest boxes are doing. Not had chance yet 👍
Cheers Michael, yeh its hard to shorten the film when you have a bumper day like that. Glad you enjoyed it mate. Looking forward to see what else occupies the boxes over the breeding season 👀🐦
Thank you Simon for another fantastic video so lucky to find the redstart nest saw my first one a couple of weeks a go brilliant footage can't wait to see what's next at the house all the best clive .
What a brilliant video Simon, one of your best and I thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish. I could relate to it because it’s something similar to what I do when I’m not under my bag hide observing owls. Finding the first Common Redstart nest wasn’t a fluke in my opinion. Due to your knowledge, you heard one and then tuned in to its location. You made me laugh when you had that big grin on your face while admiring the scenery - you looked like a kid in a sweet shop 😂. The thermal monocular looks to be worth its weight in gold because to find a heat source in a log is an absolute game changer for wildlife photography. I’m the same as you when it comes to identifying Waders and Warblers. When I learn one, if I don’t see one regularly after that, it’s completely gone from my knowledge base. I have the same Manfrotto Fluid Head you have and I do find it heavy sometimes especially when having to do a bit of walking to get to a location. After doing a bit of research on the Komodo I noticed it is a lot lighter. I was wondering how you find the Komodo Fluid Head compared to your Manfrotto? I’ve lost my mojo recently for wildlife photography but his video has really inspired me to get back out there so a big thank you for that. All the best Si.
Hi Gazza, thanks for watching pal. You need to get back out there mate, being out in nature is great for the old headspace!! All the new gear does make a difference like you say the thermal is a real gamechanger. Regarding the Komodo, I'd certainly recommend it. Its not quite as smooth as the big manfrotto when videoing but its damned close. Great on a monopod and also depends on the size of the lens youve got on it. Im pushing it a bit with the 500 F4 but it does the job. Hope this helps,.ATB,Si
@@simoneardley Totally agree in what you said about being out in nature is good for your headspace. I’m totally disengaged from all other distractions when out in nature, it can be a life saver. All the best and keep the videos coming and thanks for the feedback on the gear.
Another amazing video, what a beautiful part of the country you have on your door step Simon and your enthusiasm for wildlife and photography is second to none. Just got back from Vancouver Island with the bald eagles and bears, also an amazing place.
Mate, this was such a pleasure to watch. Your filming and use of B roll, not to mention super audio, shows how far you have come. Seriously, if this were on the TV I’d be saying “that’s what you pay your licence fee for”. Looking forward to the next homestead video. All the best 👍🏻
Braver man than me lugging that fatbike uphill, it's rough enough on my full suspension enduro bike. Unless there's anything wrong with that bike, I think you would be better looking at one of the frame or wheel mounted conversion kits that you can stick on any bike. Better a few hundred quid than a few grand haha. Dan
Just fantastic Simon again mate, the way I look at it is if I can’t be out there then watching you out there is the next best thing as your a man after my own heart keep living the dream pal and I may see you at the bird fair 👍 All the very best Paul
Hi Simon, the Common Redstart is a wonderful bird and here in Germany the young have already left the nest but are still being looked after by the parents which is lovely to observe. Looking forward to your future encounters and the relevant footage. Fantastic homestead your building and the animals will surely appreciate the new landlord 😊
Great film again mate like you I stumbled across a wood pecker nest whilst walking the dog went back the next day in the torrential rain and spent a couple of hours hidden just enjoying them
Another fantastic episode. I’ve learned so much from your channel, and it’s really helped with my own wildlife photography. I think you should possibly contact your mate“Simon bloke in the woods”. He has done a couple of vlogs on his channel , using an electric bike. I’m not sure of the make, but it looks like a good bit of kit.
Simon, that's the best hour I've spent in a long time. What an incredible video again. I think I have to agree, my favorite woodland bird is the male redstart. I bought my first emtb in 2017 and absolutely love it, I replaced it in 2022 with a full suspension emtb . Personally I don't think you need the fat tyres, mine is 29 inch front and 27 rear wheels that are 2.6 wide . The 29 front wheel helps with rolling over difficult stuff. I go everywhere, there isn't anything or anywhere I haven't been able to go. I have the Giant reign E+2 it's amazing I can get around 50 miles on a full charge covering all different terrain. Ps. I'm 60 years old. Hope this helps.
Simply superb mate! What a crackin video, Superb footage and stills. Good to hear you've got Pied Flys in your boxes already. Catch up with you soon. Take care, John.
Thanks John, didnt think we had them to be honest. Only saw the Male at first around one of the boxes, they obviously to a fancy to another one. Hopefully they'll return again next year 📷🤞🏼
Another great video Simon and what a great area you have moved too, fantastic woodland and countryside on your doorstep. Hope to see you at the Bird Fair, we will be there on the Friday.
cheers for another lovely video Simon..nice watch again! recently purchased the tripod in your video after watching the review you did...what a cracking tripod mate..had some lovely redstart shots this summer setting up the tripod on the most awkward slopes and it stood its ground so well. thank again.
You certainly put the effort in for your pass time. Loved the buzzards calls in the background. As for e bikes try looking at Cyrusher or Lankeleisi, but I would find somewhere to test ride some.
Hi Simon, I'm still plugging away building my YT Channel since your last visit and its growing, albeit slowly but I'm still putting the work in for it, I've just got myself a Super73 Z adventure E bike but yet to have enough time to recommend but give them a look! Great video as always, keep them coming! Bloody Love Redstarts
Great video yet again :) One of the shots with the Great Spot' with it's head out of the hole is a juv' bird as you can see the yellow gape around the beak. Also young birds make the constant begging call. Keep the vids coming :)
Brilliant, cracking film and images. Thank you. Will check out the book. There’s a you tube channel called Gadget John, mostly motor home and camper van related but he’s been reviewing a few e-bikes lately. Good info. Few fat tyre bikes on there. Thanks again. All the best. 👍📷😎
Simon, if you aren't aware, Collins also have an app (paid) which is the entire book but searchable on your phone + recordings of songs/calls. If I see something new pop up on Merlin I often cross reference what I'm hearing with the call on Collins to check Merlin isn't wrong. Might be easier than hauling the book til you get that e-bike lol
Thanks John, I wasn't aware of the app. I'll take a look. Like you say easier than lugging the book but there's something very tactile about a book in the hand!!🤔😃
Simon. Im in Australia so cant recommend an ebike but Gary Gough has an interesting video on ebikes and they look pretty good. Love the videos and your new place
Cracking film si,enjoyed the watch, ref electric mtn bike nip down to welshpool and see tony at brooks cycles, down the alley behind the turkish barbers.
Fantastic video yet again Simon & what an amazing location to have on your doorstep but was shocked to see there was no fig rolls when you stopped for a brew are you feeling ok 😂
Bloody ell Simon you have the devils luck… if you lost a pound you’d fine a fiver 😂… Great shots in what looks like a fine peace of woodland… All the best, hoping to get to Rutland this year so I’ll say hello.. Cheers
Simon, regarding e-bikes, have a word with Andy (Kent Survival on TH-cam) who had a channel where he reviewed different types of bike so he should be able to give you some good advice. Regards, Simon.
How strange, l too picked up a redstart on the Merlin app , but l have not heard it since lm still looking. Regarding E bikes l ride a cube e bike, it’s a mountain bike and it makes life a lot easier especially going up hill, be careful though because l was photographing bluebells this Spring left the bike by a tree middle of nowhere and some lowlife had nicked it would you believe it! Anyway great video Simon enjoyed this!
Ay up Si. Get yourself a lottery ticket you spawny git! Honestly, you'd fall over in muck and come up smelling of roses you. Just rewards for efforts. Couldn't agree more with that old adage 'Study to be quiet'. Have to say, calendar quality photos!! (hint hint) Not just fantastic wildlife but some cracking trees. Spotted a lovely hornbeam among those spectacular Oaks. Only disappointment for me was the switch to hobnob, fig rolls rare up there? Stay safe and well mucker.
Simon thank you so much for sharing this beautiful beautiful wildlife! I live in Waco Texas USA and I am wheelchair bound so I can not get out to the beautiful wildlife places you get to. I really love your incredible videos and I always look forward to seeing them! Thanks so very much. Rob.

Simon, that's the best hour I've spent in a long time. What an incredible video again. I think I have to agree, my favorite woodland bird is the male redstart. Thanks Stevie, so many choices to make with the e-bike. I need to do some proper research and try a few types out. 50 miles is a decent range 👍🏼👍🏼
Hi simon I'm in rural Lincolnshire not heard a cuckoo for over 3 years
Hearing them and seeing them, now thats the difficult bit Peter!!👀
Simply superb mate! What a crackin video, Superb footage and stills. Good to hear you've got Pied Flys in your boxes already. Catch up with you soon. Take care, John.

What can I say CRACKING thanks Simon.
Youre welcome Martin 😀

Haha, im working on it Richard. Only a temporary confectionary swap 🤣 Weve actually got a Fig Tree in the garden, might have to do a baking video!!🤔😆
