I’ve had a Doordash that a representative ordered and I ended up at the Doordash office hub for Pittsburgh so she asked me a few questions and I got paid for going to the hub which is in greentree.
I live in the UK, in a town where it takes no longer than about 10-15 mins, max, to get from any given place to another. I started delivering with UBER Eats tonight, did four deliveries, only drove about six or seven miles in total, took about an hour actual work and earned about £28 including about £8 in tips. Most of the orders were almost ready when I arrived and luckily I live equidistant from the two main foodie hubs so I sat on my back side at home most of the night and earned £30 🤣. I'm actually a Private Hire driver specializing in airport transfers so I'm hoping this will help to make ends meet in what is an horrific time for the industry. The flexibility of this is perfect for people such as myself as you just log in as and when you want to and no set shifts so there's no conflict with any bookings you may be lucky enough to actually have at the minute.

Dealt with my first instance of tip-baiting yesterday, guy took off his $8 tip as soon as I got him his food (no issues or complaints whatsoever). Uber didn’t compensate for it after reporting it, even though I felt it was extreme, but for every other tip and trip adjustment I’ve gotten from other UberEATS deliveries, I really can’t complain!
That's tough Pitstar but you did the right thing reporting it. What will happen over time is Uber will make note of the customer's account and if repeated the customer can have their account deleted.
I pay no attention to extra pay areas since they seem to change and pay scales are not the same. I learned what to take and what not to and what areas are good and what foods pay the best tips. Been good to me!
Uber eats has higher pays for moderate to longer distance deliveries. Doordash still beneficial for those short distance 1-3 mile $6, $7, $8 deliveries. Again Uber eats should allow you to change tasks with stacked orders like you can with Doordash.
Uber Eats need to be running at about 1.6 - 1.7 to have the same base pay as DD , when this happens it can be easily worth driving Uber vs DD if DD is not running peak pay especially since you can cherry pick the Uber orders
Important note about base pay and a strong comparison. We need to carefully look at order base whether that be base pay or incentive pay and choose the best one.
Its better regular uber, don't think so much with eats unless you don't mind mileage because you can earn more dollars but putting double miles. Doordash I feel is best miles to dollar pay, but wo peak pay will make less.
Hey question on the boosts. The surge pricing is nice cause it literally adds a couple bucks to the order but the boosts don’t seem to. I noticed when the boosts are in play the normal fares are lower and then they multiply them up and it’s the same as without it, am I missing something?
Hi Ryan, Uber Eats calculates driver pay as: Base fare + Trip supplement + Promotions + Tips = Total. So any Boost pay is in addition to base pay and that base pay includes your pay for pickup, dropoff, time and distance. UE should not be touching time and distance pay, so what you can do is look at your earnings breakdown to see if there's any change in the pickup and drop-off pay.
Can the customer see the drivers location when your waiting the vehicle?? Why can't you see the location of the person your picking up? It's so damn frustrating when the person you're picking up is not there and you have to play the location game so they can find your car, especially in a busy area. Why didn't Uber think of this even?
Are you referring to their ride sharing platform? If so there is passenger tracking but the option must be turned on on the passenger's end, called "live location sharing"
So I been trying to apply for this job for a few days now and am struggling only because of the insurance I'm assuming. So I'm under my parents insurance. I sent ubereats a declaration page of all our vehicle's. Everytime I register my car, it gets approved but my mom's car ends up being registered instead of mines. Was wondering if it's because of the declaration page? It's been happening to me 5-7 times now and it's frustrating. Also: I called them about 5-7 times and all they said that they'll delete my mom's car and told me to register again but it's the same thing.
Hi Sergio, I've heard DD has reduced peak pay in LA as well, in this case I would closely look at your numbers across market segments and see what's paying the most.

While postmates has way more orders but the pay is very low. Every order can vary from 4 to 7 dollars which is not much especially if ustomers don't tip. Postmates also doesn't tell you what you will earn before hand like Uber and DD

I drive Uber Eats in Charleston SC. Google Maps is great. But when I get close to an order especially to apartments it’s easier to go back to the Uber map because most times it’ll show the ping of the exact building. Google usually just gets you to the complex and searching for the building can waste time.
Out here we can finally see if people tip or not. This makes a astronomical difference. I do cherry pick now, because at least there is a tip estimated payment better then minimum. I jumped to $15-20+/hr doing that.

They know I can’t do anything about a lousy $27 payment, they prolly think it’s funny. The email came from support so I replied and of course my reply bounced back and there’s Zero live customer service unless you’re on the road. Sheesh, they don’t disrespect their drivers, I think they hate them. They’d rather have drones and they resent their drivers. Their live customer service is fine while you’re driving, fast and efficient, but off the road, they nasty.
I been ubering for 2 months. In a week a I make about $250-$355. It definitely pays the bills and gas. My friends and family are calling me a lazy bum because it's not a real job or real money.
I prefer Uber Eats in my area(Las Vegas), because it is more consistent in my experience, than Doordash. The downside is that in Las Vegas we get 0 quests and 0 boosts. The only boosts it shows are 80 and 90 miles away in other towns.
No more quest, uber is more busy in as you really are not waiting to get your next order and most customer do tip more then on dd in my experience. Having not to schedule to drive is a plus that alone is better.

There are actually 3 pay incentives. Surge is the same as DD where you get $1 or $2 extra per order. Boost are just like you said 1.3x or more. And Quests which is 3 deliveries and extra $. I drive for Uber (drive people). Never wanted to do food delivery, but since RS is dead and dangerous I'm considering it. I noticed you said Uber offer surge MULTIPLIERS in your market. Are surge multipliers in every market for UBER EATS? I turned off Uber Driver and put on Uber Eats - the map just shows the penny surge (typical in my market for driving people).
Surge and boost zones are not guaranteed as they're based on demand levels for your market. I would try different times/zones to see where the best pay offers are.
So the new thing where I live is some customers calling or writing Uber saying drivers are arguing with them, making them feel uncomfortable. Another one they're saying the driver does not wear a mask.
Thats true. I got a message from uber that a complaint was made because i was not wearing a mask, which was completely false. Not cool at all. Why would people do that?
@@mikep211 My opinion is they take it out on US for missing items (safely sealed in the bag) from the restaurant, or for being late because the restaurant took too long prepareing the food.
I also got a thumbs down one day for no reason. I think some people just complain to not pay the delivery fee. If they don’t want to pay they should just pick up the food themselves. They don’t care if we lose our job as a driver. They don’t realize how bad this effects our lives as a hard worker trying to pay our bills. I understand not all drivers are the best. Some might be rude and careless.

Pittsburgh oakland area is lit for Uber eat everyday 4-9pm. Make over $150 everyday for 5 hrs drive

I think it pays better and more consistently than doordash at least in Buffalo. I can pick 10$ more per trip with Uber, doordash and grub hub.

Unfortunately in L.A there is no bonuses and DD does, but DD here has way to many drivers and its hard to get any orders at all.

Would I be punished due to declining requests?
But they tell you the expected tip on Uber eats so you'll know what your expected outcome will be and it's usually correct most of the time.
Similar to DoorDash but unlike DD your UE customers can much more easily add to their tip/add a tip after the delivery
They can also give you an extra tip after the delivery.
I’ve only had a zero tip after once and people on Reddit said there was a glitch but overall I get way more delivery was higher then shown.

Ubereats just pick up and go you don't need to pay for customers orders and you don't need to place the orders everything is done for you
But the downside to ubereats is you can be close to the restaurant but the customers is like 10 miles away
You will receive a credit card from Uber to use when you have to order and pay

So I downloaded the Uber driver app but how do you get the Uber eats driver app instead of driving people around
Hi Corey, from your main menu click on the slider dot menu on the middle of the screen (to parallel lines with circles). This will bring you to your driver preferences where you can toggle between rideshare and delivery. If you don't see delivery options message Uber support and they can add this to your profile.
