    I'll add another tip which I believe really helps increase...tips. Keep a stapler in your car to seal orders that the restaurant neglects to seal. The Wendys in my town does not seal anything and it blows my mind. I would be very annoyed if I was the customer, knowing the driver can snag a few fries out of my order.
    This eliminates the customer suspecting us of tampering with the food and makes them feel much better. And when they feel better, the better the odds of them tipping :)

      I now take a normal paying order if the waiting time is not long. The restaurants where you have to wait 30minutes is the first thing you want to avoid. Even accepting small paying orders with short or no waiting times are better in my eyes. In our case i think speed is the most important.

    Mike the most important factors about delivering food is size of city thus deliveries, cost for you to deliver, and tips. I switched to a used electric which saved me a ton of gas money. In fact the gas savings pays for the car. Also know your areas. I often take double deliveries and one particular long run area. The reason tips. I learned what areas and pickups tip the best. Also I learned what foods that people order from tip the best. TIPS is what it is all about!

      I started with doordash making over 300 a week a week not putting in a bunch of time. But I've noticed in the past two months they have been giving out such low paying offers with no significant tips.. I switch to Uber and then making a lot more money and tips are usually higher than stated especially if you do make a personal contact effort. They do try to drag you into other areas so I have to be careful about driving too many miles for the money I'm getting. I like that Uber let you do your job where doordash bugs the crap out you which I found stressed me out. I only work Friday night through Sunday which makes me very happy with the money I'm making. I have learned how to control the drag to other areas by just turning myself off until I get back to where I want to work 👍

      @@suzanmccullough3513 I've been running UberEats for almost a month now with 118 deliveries. I started out doing both Uber and DD but found that I always had some kind of issue with DD (canceled orders, difficult customers, navigation issues), but Uber seems to go pretty smooth. I just started doing the same thing with going off line when I find myself getting pulled into areas that I'm not too fond of. After reading your post, I'm a little less reluctant to do so. I was under the impression that when you do that, it counts against you somehow. A lot of the tip issues in this video and in other comments so far seem irrelevant in my case. Whatever the customer tips, Uber uses to pay me. The only tips I've been able to keep are when customer tip an amount that is well above what the order amount was. I thought DD got in trouble a few years ago over this, but it seems both DD & Uber are still doing it. Their defense is that it compensates for when a customer doesn't tip. This practice supposedly stems from the practice restaurants use by putting out a tip jar that their employees split, instead of being tipped directly.

San Diego, LA, SF, and other large cities can be more selective that rural areas with populations under 100k. Most orders for Uber are Leave at Door, customers seldom come to the car, but I agree, keep your car clean anyway, its speaks volumes about your work ethic.

    As an Eats driver who has been delivering for going on 3 years (FT) I can say that the park & wait suggestion doesnt work lol. Atleast for me I guess, and Ive worked 2 diff markets, Chicago and Denver. Sometimes that is successful if you are parked on a strip of busy restaurants, but even then, other drivers are doing the same and I would get orders that took me out of that area and back to square A. I have never had a good night by sitting somewhere, I'd be sitting for what seemed like forever. I've found that by driving the vicinity of the area I am working, I tend to pick up more dings. Yes it adds more miles, but I claim every mile I put on while on the clock come tax time. Great video though, its amazing how our experiences as drivers can be so varied!

    • @melodicmynd4264
      @melodicmynd4264 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rooruffneck I utilize the old school pen and paper log, I write my mileage each day before I begin, and write my mileage when signing off. I record miles between sign ons for the day as well if it's during my work hours, like repositioning from one location to another. This way I have clear numbers of what was during work hours so I can separate that from personal use miles. There are also mileage apps, which can track your drives, or allow you to enter mileage manually (which can get tedious if you're not doing it as you are working). I personally don't trust the accuracy of technology lol (Uber app being no exception) so that's why I do it the old fashioned way, less steps, more simply organized.

    So strange to see these bonuses. Here in Miami I never see a heat map with colors. It's either grey when busy or white when not. Also first time in 2 months I saw a quest previous weekend. They activated it the day we were being hit my a tropical storm. Other than that money bonuses are non existent. Be happy if you are in a market that has any..... Last thing. Here in south Florida the standard fee is $3. To get anything more as a base you'll be driving more than 5 miles and down here 5 miles means multiple cities away. I also prefer to see the tip before hand. Yes at times it's bait by a dollar or two but more times than not I get more than the original amount or spot on.

    I do Uber Eats in H-town and just stay in the midtown area (hot zone) and make $90 to $110 in about 7 hours. These Houstonians do tip good as well. Work the lunch rush and dinner rush you should be fine in most cities.
    Also, nobody cooks on Friday and Saturday nights so you can easily make $$$ between 5 pm and 9 pm.

    Honestly I think there are a lot of folks out there saying to deny requests for low paying fares. But I think if everyone is doing that, it's a disservice to yourself. If everyone is denying these, then these companies are forced to hire more drivers, to cut down the wait time. More drivers means less trips for everyone which means less money. So I would say take a few of these trips every so often. So they don't hire more drivers.

    What are your thoughts on potential tip baiting with UberEats’ ability to let the customer edit their tip up to an hour after the drop off?

    • @YourDriverMike
      @YourDriverMike  4 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      I've heard of that but I wouldn't worry about it too much, now you can protect yourself on especially high paying orders by screen shotting the order request. If the customer drastically decreases the tip you can reach out to support stating this may be tip baiting and you're requesting a full payout.

    Last night I made an extra$20.00 because I drove an extra 15 minutes. That area also tips better. More expensive restaurants mean more tips$$ Door Dash has the cheapest non tipping customers. So I'm only using U. E. I'm jumping from early afternoon untill 9:00 P.M. Tipps are better Friday- Sunday. I won't take an order under $10.00. No Mc Donald's or Juice orders. They tend to be kids using the app. They'll offer a huge tip to get you to drive 15 miles to drop off a juice. They then take back tge tip. what happened last weekend to one of the Uber drivers on my Facebook group tipped him a dollar after baiting them to do the long drive with a fat tip.

    Doing Uber Eats walker in Montreal city. Always starting at same spot then. Following the way that orders will bring me and most of times it’s one after one.
    For the rapidity of my deliveries. Have a very good knowledge of the area so I know all shortcuts. Many times more efficient by walking than doing by car.
    Having my left side hand paralyzed and use to wear medical scrub top. All pockets are very useful. So a loose beverage that come with orders can be hold in one of these pockets.
    In average I have 95% of my trips that getting a tip.
    I understand that when they order only on item it can happen to get no tip. No expenses for a vehicle so I don’t mind.
    With Uber we have meet at the door and leave at the door,when I have to leave it at the door,I’m staying around to make sure that I can see the client picking up his order..happen once that a raccoon pops up from a bush and grab the order just before client appear at door porch.
    I never run after surges. Most of times when I get in surges it’s cause I’m already in the area. By the time you get there it’s gone.
    I’m doing only Uber Eats. Cause door dash require at least a bike and can’t ride on bike with my left side half out of order 😂.
    My bag are good to fit most of the orders in. In about a year, it’s happened only once that order was too big.
    When receiving orders it show you approximately where it going and if you have a double,it’s appear a little (2) on the request.
    I use to do it in Montreal downtown. I had a try in another city where was no walkers and I had request over the 2 km limits that programmed in the apps. So we need be more careful before accepting an order.
    That’s the good point with Uber. Even if you’re in another city but in same country it will work.

    Slightly off topic but I am curious what you would do in this situation. Yesterday afternoon roughly 25% of my market was effected by a power outage. While I am a customer and not a driver, if you as the driver are waiting at a restaurant and the power went out, what would you do? Also, if it was in the middle of the block/dash/shift what would your strategy be to get orders?

DD would probably still send drivers orders however unless enough drivers send them a head ups

  • @sgonged

    I hate to break it to you...wear and tear on a vehicle is a NON ISSUE. I don't know why people think this way about a car.
    Cars are going to zero like every liability you put money into. If you don't drive your car it's a waste. All cars get another year older every year so just drive the car.
    If you think your car is going to be worth more then you sell it...wrong again. Look at the cost of a car with 150k miles and 120k miles it's like $1200 bucks. Are you driving your car for 6 years in HOPES you get that 1200 back?!?
    Just use the car like the tool it is and don't think about the miles or re-sale.

    • @YourDriverMike
      @YourDriverMike  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for commenting sgonged, true your vehicle is depreciating regardless but the issue with gig driving is it may reach 'end of life' a lot faster than normal 10k mile/year driving. So it may not always be about resale value but just the longevity of the asset.

If I am close to the restaurant and the customer is close, I will accept orders over $7.00. More than 8 miles have to be at least 10.00 including tip. You should have it David, I would message support to see why it's not showing up in your app

      Could just still be pending, especially with the pandemic staffing may be less than normal. I don't see a phone number online but you could try Uber_Support on Twitter. I've DM'd several of these companies and they reply on Twitter pretty quickly.
