Spot-on mini adventure!! Thanks for the video! I've started going old-skool with food and been taking cans instead of the bags. Really inexpensive and loads of variety - ring pull (obviously). Add a can of potatoes to bulk it up. I take off the top and sit the can in a cup of about 30cm of water - the shallow water boils quickly and heats up the can. Stuff the rubbish inn the empty can and recycle. M&S are fab! Possible to eat out of the can and save washing up. Also, a packet of poppadoms is good fun. I put a bit of oil on them and stick them straight in the flame (trying not to burn off my fingerprints!). I was out last Saturday with a couple of makes on local fields. I was hoping to use it in the snow in Scotland but with the lockdown restrictions I ,ve not been able to get out to play. Enjoying your vids, keep them coming. Cheers.
I love it mate , however its only as good as the mat you lie on . If you have a crap mat the cold will strike through especially on cold ground . @@BorderRambler hope we get some more good snow this year. Richard
Nice camp there Dave. That's dedication for you straight from work. I wouldn't risk using a alcohol stove in the tent, I would probably knock it over and then I wouldn't have a tent anymore. Have you done a link to that quilt? ATB Darren
Thanks Darren , if you notice the shot after stove shot I opened the door 😂 the wind was blowing it a bit too much for my liking ! Search “Under ground quilts” mines the bandit there all custom made but you can by some straight off the shelf . Beware tho as in US import costs incurred !! TFW atb Dave
Good video Dave. Definitely a bit windy. I think the lunar solo may have struggled. I'm starting to see a few more people now using tables like yours - are they worth it?. ATB
Thanks Jim , for £15 super light it’s a no brainier in my books . The lunar solo would have been tested to the limit lol atb Dave
ps liking your new logo 👍
Hi Dave, How do you rate your UGQ quilt, I bought one earlier on in the year but havnt managed to put it to full use because of Covid.
But have a good mat its great I use 3 elastic ties to keep it tight to the mat . The foilbacked foam mat stopped any cold striking through on this camp . TFW atb Dave
@@BorderRambler Cheers Dave I have a four season Exped mat plus a foil ground mat so hopefully that should keep me warm. i also have three elastic ties to hold it in place so roll on the end of lockdown. atb Alex.
Nice video thanks for posting I use my earplugs at home ....married you see 😅🖖
Cheers mate , my wife wears them after I have had a drink lol TFW atb Dave
Good if V windy night, as you say you've got to do these things. Mirrors a little the fells I plan on venturing round for a night, though setting off from Sleddale, that's when / if in the NE we ever get get out of tier three. Typical uneducated situation concerning the toileting, dwellings such as that do seem to attract this unfortunately. Long winter ahead, maybe you will get the aurora another time.
Thanks Iain , a little wild lol . I also need to try from the sleddale side looks quite an interesting area . Hopefully you will be out of tier 3 soon . Yes I also see a long winter ahead and hope to catch the aurora one day TFW atb Dave
@@BorderRambler If you get out again before Christmas Dave, there is the conjunction between Jupiter and Saturn to look out for. Merging together now, this complete alignment will happen on the 21st, observable low in the west just after dusk, will be distinctly bright clear skies permitting.
@@iainsharples1433 hopefully out but the weather has been nothing but overcast lately , I will try though 🥶 atb Dave
Yes weathers been grim, slightly better for weekend and perhaps beyond maybe. Probably a tier three extensive for us, hope that you stay in your tier two, allowing more freedom within Cumbria.
Only just found your channel and love it! Great, down to earth videos! Would love to know what spec quilt you got? What light do you use to hang in your tent too?
Thank’s Jonathan , the quilt is the 800 fill power and rated down to -12c . The light is just a cheapo Amazon bulb shaped light less than a £10 if I remember rightly . Thanks for watching atb Dave 👍
@@BorderRambler thanks Dave! Do you find the 800 FP ok? Stuck between the 800 and 850
I suppose it’s personal choice but I find it ok , I did get overstuff in the foot box tho . Just remember a decent insulated mat is needed to keep the heat in otherwise it will be lost atb Dave
@@BorderRambler couldn’t agree more! Is the -12 the comfort rating or limit?
@@JDB269 I would say the limit
Good vid. Thank you. Ear plugs great but you need to get fingerless gloves. Make a huge difference.
Thanks , my finger ends would drop off lol
