Another good one there Dave. It's funny how we are always reminded to leave No trace and all that, yet the forestry commission can come along and dump a 1000 tonne of road on the moors and no one bats an eyelid.
I thought it was a suggestion in progress but no you were making a brew in there. Looked cozy Dave. Gave you the energy boost you needed. I love the way you search for your camps - always hit and miss but you got there. A reasonable camp amid the rocks. Yeah lovely nature moments Dave. Looks like their looking to bring some trees in. All the best. Mark
No deer were harmed from the shooting box lol , always on the lookout for new camp spots . Quite liked the look of that sheepfold . Just glad the tent fit on that little pitch . As always great to be out and thanks for watching atb Dave 👍
Brilliant..... I tell you what your doing so well to be out in this sorry wet windy weather .... I can’t wait to get back out but I just know the long night in the tent 🏕 wouldn’t be much fun.... especially if it’s raining out.... Well done 👍👍👍... It makes me feel like a right soft bugger .... sitting here nice and warm watching your video hahaha.....So good to spot the deer 🦌 as well ..... the footage was fine.... just good to them ... Nice job with this video pal.... and well done once again 👍👍👍
Thanks Robert , I do wonder myself camping with these long night lol thats why I prefer the drier cold camps when you can get out and take some night photography. Seen quite a few pockets of deer but only these ones played ball . as always thanks for watching atb Dave
Very nice upload here. Just awesome nature shots in a beautiful area there . Every perspective is so beautiful. Thank you for sharing! I wish you all the best, happy and healty new Year. See you soon again.
That was a cracking little spot to have some soup, in that hunting box, perfect. That was a snug fit for the tent, nice seeing the deer, another good camp, hope you have a good Christmas mate, ATB 👍🏕️
Another great one Dave. You struck lucky again before the hand cuffs went back on. Who knows how long it will be before we get back out. Stay safe. Chris.
Thanks Chris I managed 3 camps in December , went out whatever the weather as I had a feeling we would be locked down after xmas . TFW stay safe atb Dave
just good to get out into some open space dave. hate damp & dreak we need a few hard frosts to firm things underfoot. all my local walks are pure mud fest at the minute. nice bit of reindeer on the xmas menu lol. anyway atb to you & yours.
Agree totally Geordie we need some nice sharp frosts , because as you say its just a mud fest out there . Enjoyed the reindeer meal , atb for xmas Dave
Great place, good to get out marra, you did well not to get soaked with all this rain we've had, west cumbria is just so wet now surprised we've had no floods yet!!! Enjoyed ya vid👍💦 all Atb jon
Thanks Jon , yeah dodged the rain on this one marra, the ground however is absolutely sodden . I was through Cockermouth on Monday and the river was well up like . TFW atb for xmas Dave
Hey Dave, well the weather was pretty kind to you I'd say. Very tight to get that hilly pitched up there. Long, chilly nights 😫 especially solo. I haven't done many solos, I always prefer company. Fantastic scenery, loved it. Lee
New road Dave.. need to check that out !! tough going over them peat haggs.. but that's a nice little craggy outcrop.. the weathers hopefully going to improve over the Christmas break so that will make a change.. Reat Turmat meals are the best not cheap but we've never had a bad one.. Reindeer Stew is that good it could be on our Christmas Day Menu ..lol.. TFS.. ATB.. R&D
Thanks R&D yeah I would say there is a big tree harvesting project coming up ! Weather has been poor of late with the odd good day so some good weather would be nice. The Real Turmat was really nice so would deffo buy again , dont think it would look as nice as my xmas dinner on a plate lol . TFW atb Dave
Another good spot Dave, great to see some normality, as restrictions are tightening for many areas. I do look at those fells a lot on the map and wonder how challenging it would be to get to Glendhu Hill, north of the crags. I know that the terrain is a little difficult and have traversed across the Larriston Fells a little further north. I had commented in your previous film about the great conjunction, more like the great blanket cloud at the wrong time, so far.
Thanks Iain I am making the most of my time as we never know what will happen in a weeks time! I have done Glendhu Hill, you can get somewhere near the summit until the forest tracks run out then it is similar ground as this vid to reach the trig . I went further across to Marvens cleugh and checked out the old crash site here -www.flickr.com/photos/48746351@N03/5428419369/in/album-72157662105753694/ The trees I believe have all been felled now. I need to revisit sometime but it is a real leg burner lol atb Dave
@@BorderRambler That is very interesting thanks and the Halifax crash site is very intriguing, read up on this through the Kielder Historical Project. Can fully appreciate that Glendhu hill will be a leg burner. Much of these uplands around this area are, which is part of their appeal.
Yeah very long nights is when you appreciate others being there especially if its decent enough to sit out. On the other hand my last trip was a solo, I'd forgotten how much I like a solo. Some freedom in the sea of insanity that is the new normal. Think the Road means the trees are going to be felled. Good stuff Dave ATB.
Thanks Eddie , only another week and then the day will slowly get longer again lol . All I know is solo Eddie so you get used to your own company . Making the most of freedom as I reckon after xmas it will be gone ! TFW atb Dave
Hi Dave, beautiful scenery in the opening sequence 👍 I've had the same bother of late from over paid useless weather forecasters 🤔 I notice the topography is very undulating as it is in my locality in South Wales, trying to find flat spots is often difficult. Have a great Christmas 🎄
Thanks Taff , most times those forecasts are way out and I just go for it whatever 😂 Yeah a great area but does lack decent pitches but I have a few dotted about the hillside now . Have a nice Xmas atb Dave 👍
That raven had a fair old croak at the start! I tried sussing out your route on the OS Map and it really does look a beltin' area. I like the sense of space that moorland-type places give you. Yes, getting past the Winter Solstice is a big deal for me, knowing that the days are slowly getting longer. Anyway, I right enjoyed that. Best wishes for Christmas and New Year. Chris
Cheers Chris , yeah I thought it worthy of a little raven time lol . Its a very quiet area and you rarely meet anyone else out there . After the 21st the nights will slowly get lighter and the days longer . All the best for xmas and 2021 atb Dave
Loved the time lapse while you were putting the tent up and it looked like you got a nice spot. You did not have a bullseye painted on your tent did you.....Looked a rough walk back over the peat hags and looks like you beat the heavy rain back to the car, cheers Alan
It’s good to see people doing normal stuff like. So cheers for that. I love a frosty camp too. Something about it. If you contact hilleberg by email they’ll send you some new shock cord for that pole. Free usually. I got some for my soulo and my mate Rab did. No questions just the cord. Easy to replace too. Hope you have a good Xmas mate. Back out 2021. 🤞
Thanks mate , yeah trying to carry on as normal . The shockcord has gone all limp on me lol .... I will drop an email and see if I hear out back . I tried tightening on camp and was nearly a disaster as it all started recoiling on me !!! See you back out in 2021 have a good xmas mate 👍
Like you said Dave, you’ve got to take what you get at present. I’ve not managed to get out for over 100 days now and we are about to go back into a lockdown again (in Wales) on 28th (my birthday 😫). Take care mate and thank you for sharing 👍🏻
I feel for you guys down in Wales , really strict rules and lockdowns !! A 100 days thats grim mate , people need there freedom ... I reckon we will be following suit not far behind you . Stick in Jiffy and happy birthday for the 28th atb Dave

Good lad, Dave, well done for getting out. Once again your night photography is absolutely fantastic. Love it. Watch out for a guy called Brian in the comments. I do the same with my exos 48 , tent fastened to the outside at the bottom. Frees up a ton of space inside plus as you said in the video , you can pack everything away in your rucksack when it's pissing down or just to darn cold , inside your tent ⛺ . How are you finding the gopro 9 now you used it a few times.
Yeah it’s gives you that extra room Joe ,and normally the tents wet when packing away so outside is best . The hero 9 if using the media mod is ok but without it crackles and pops ! Even with 2 firmware updates pretty poor from GoPro on this one .. should have kept my 7 😂😂😂 TFW atb Dave
