      Cecily Dossett Oh yeah. It can take your crown region out. A lot of time people will neglect to moisturize the crown area as much as the rest of the hair. I know some people will mention not to condition near your scalp but if the ingredients are good and the scalp isn’t oily then I believe we should.

    Olaplex No. 3 saved my hair, plain and simple. I singed my baby fine hair last year while blow-drying with a round brush. Yes, it truly is blow-frying for me. After I cut off the worst of the singed hair, I got some Olaplex No. 3, and it really did repair the damage. I will never be without it for my super fine hair. If it hadn't been curly-girl approved, that would've been a deal breaker for me starting the CGM. Luckily, it is curly-girl approved. That's the only product I use that I felt that way about. I gave up everything else, but never this one.

  • @JennLeeFoster
    @JennLeeFoster 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    FYI, I use it about monthly. I am hooked on the shampoo and conditioner. Though it may not be CG approved. I can say my hair loooooves it. My hair is curlier and I have had less hair loss. This is with me blow drying my hair with heat (diffuser of course ) and heat protectant. I also bleach my hair and so I really do need as much curly protection as I can!! Love olapex!!!

    This is HANDS DOWN the best explanation of any (d o z e n s !!!) video I’ve sought out about exactly what the bonds are and how this repairs them. 🤓♥️ Thank you! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
    I too have virgin hair and used it last week...and BOOM! 💥It was incredible. I won’t need it often, I’m going to keep an eye on it and see what it’s like in 2-3 mos, and maybe it’ll be time again. I twisted also, my hair is fine so I did smaller ones, and they stayed justvlike yours. I’m *convinced* it made a difference in my coils! ➿➰➿➰➿😎
    I also deep conditioned the same day, and even twisted THAT too!
    It’s good that you did the conditioner bc too many people still think that the Olaplex is a moisturizer - and it’s not. Even though it has slip, it’s not a conditioner at all.
    Thanks so much for being so thorough! It came out FABULOUS! 🏆😎🏆

      I have to disappoint you. This explanation is wrong. The explanation used by the company is a scam. Substances like that one in their products are not able to protect, build or reconstruct disulfide bonds... They react with proteins in a different way!

      Julia Kontis please provide source material/links to reliable information about this! If true, I’ll need to hear from a scientific source rather than TH-cam. And I’m open to learning more, but that’s a big statement to just drop.
      Also, unless it’s *actively harming my hair*, the tangible benefits outweighed any questions of whether I should use it.
      Looking forward for any proof you can bring to light! Thank you! 👍🏼

      @@melissalask5253 I’m glad that your mind is free for a more scientific look. First of all, I have to apologize my awkward English. It‘s not my native language. ;-) I’ll try to translate some main points from my original german texts and give you some scientific sources - book extracts, patents (they are all in English). It's not easy to find the time to translate all writings with the same quality as in the original version, if you have a 5 months old baby which requires all your attention. x_x ;-D

    I have been using Olaplex for years as my hair stylist really promotes it and treats our hair with the other Olaplex steps at his salon. I LOVE it!! My hair is a little curlier than yours and I color it as I have gray. It’s very dry and fine and needs tons or moisture and I leave Olaplex 3 straight on my hair until the next wash days later. I have 2 friends who do the same thing (who also go to my stylist) and he says it’s fine to just leave it on. It’s really diminished frizz and promoted shine.

    Olaplex and also deep conditioner should not be used on dripping wet hair! You are diluting the product very much and a lot will drip off into the tub. Also your hair is supposed to suck the product in. But if your hair is dripping wet it's saturated already and won't suck up much of the product. Please wash if your hair has buildup but then towel dry it. Apply to damp not wet hair!!!

      SaBr 417 well I have already tried clarifying in the weeks leading up to trying olaplex. And ACV rinses, and beer rinses, and all the things to remove build up. But nothing was helping my curls spring back.

    Hey courtney is it possible your hair has been getting over moisturized lately? The past few videos/instagram posts your hair has been looking a little greasy/weighed down even right after a wash. I had to stop using the inahsi cowash and mask for that exact reason - its too heavy for my fine hair and made it do that limp greasy clumpy look at the roots. I gave them to a friend who has super thick coarse hair and they worked beautifully.
    So i guess the scientific part of the question: can over moisturization or even hygral fatigue damage the disulfide bonds?

      I was going to comment this, too. It sounds like her hair might've been over moisturized

    • @SwavyCurlyCourtney
      @SwavyCurlyCourtney  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No, I don’t think my hair was over moisturized. I have done three or four really strong protein treatments off camera, and have been clarifying regularly. Even after really good protein treatments, and using protein heavy stylers my hair was still not behaving normally. It didn’t feel over moisturized, and it didn’t feel like it was in protein overload. Now I wonder if it becoming over moisturized did break the disulfide bonds! That is a GREAT question!

    • @karapelletier2866
      @karapelletier2866 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If that hair is still on your head it would be the ends of the hair only. Hair grows at 1/4-1/2" plus per month depending on the person. So if your hair is very long, the ends where you applied the chemicals would definitely need the bonds rebuilt. Most hair needs the bonds rebuilt just due to manual manipulation (heavy brushing etc.), any heat styling, etc. And definitely from the sun and other elements. Half an hour of full sun a day for a year permanently damages the hair. Olaplex can repair some of that damage. I use it every time I color and then weekly as I live in sunny So Cal. Hope this helps!

    I have the best hair day ever when I use Olaplex. One question though-- is there a reason you did the curl training after applying the Olaplex and then washed and conditioned? Just trying to understand the order. It seems like any hair memory that would result from curl training would be lost after that second wash and condition

    • @vividneon
      @vividneon 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I believe it's meant to give the curl "muscle memory" the more you train them the curlier they will be. It's kind of similar to how we all had to transition our hair after straightening it for years. The hair was trained to be straight so we had to baby it to help the curls come back.

      Well I did it with the olaplex to kind of test it out. I had never done it before! And when I went back to wash it out my legs were too tired to let me do it again! Lol! 😆🙈 but I really think it helped! Even through I only did it with the olaplex!

    I love this treatment and have been using it for a year. You do know you are suppose to put it on wet hair and let it sit for at least 20 minutes...I let it sit for 2 hours each time. Then you wash and condition it out. I can't imagine it doing much if you put it on and did not leave it sit. Maybe I didn't watch the video close enough.

      Yes, Olaplex is not a protein, nor is it a deep conditioner. It is a treatment, so deep conditioning is still a must. People tend to get confused, and yes the hair will feel so soft and amazing, but it still needs that love from a mask or deep conditioner.
