Yes, I saw the new armors. Yes, I will be making a video on them sometime soon-ish. NOW GO VOTE IN THE POLL: th-cam.com/users/postUgxHKSxYPGHoI5xGsJd4AaABCQ
To be honest for waiting a couple months for this armor it’s kinda disappointing all of them are just reskins of default armor some are hit or miss for example I love conqueror’s helmet it’s nice and clean but his arm piece would have been better if the rest of the arms weren’t exposed
HL's top guard in offensive stance isn't a stance, it's a power move. Offensive stance in general is a power move, he drops his guard and unlocks ultra instinct then after kicks you so hard it stumbles you long enough to get a heavy attack. HL is so needlessly anime and I love it
As someone trained in italian swordsmanship my instructor said on occasion you don't need fancy technique or discipline you just need full blooded aggression and all the power you can muster to shatter a weak opponent
For real though, I almost think the fact that all of his other stances are mostly quite good and proper only makes top guard Offensive stance that much more imposing. He's literally saying 'look fucker, you're not worth me even fookin trying here"
"He's just standing there...... MEEHHHHn-" That caught me way off guard. I almost choked on my pizza XD I find it fitting that it's talking about the offensive stance in which... you can't guard attacks. Eh? See what I did there?- I'll take my leave.
6:44 Maybe the bad form when blocking a heavy is the reason why he stubbles back. On another note, that cool if he could counter with heavies (like conqueror does) with that move. ...maybe if he didn't have hyper armor
I'm so happy you did this to my favorite character I love how you actually praised the good things instead of all the videos of instructors reacting to Highlander and saying it's all trash and yeah I kinda wish the stances were swapped too especially since offensive is now worse than defensive in game from them breaking his animations by speeding them up.
Cool I'll check it out it actually reminds of sword moves in the wichter 3 didn't know that spinning moves could be effective like that Also is kensei zone just as viable?
@@stingray12323 Well... The issue with the Witcher is that he's using it with a longsword which is a much shorter weapon. Then again, I guess there's always the "superhuman speed and reflexes" argument. Also, that he's using the same kind of moves against individual opponents where it makes little sense.
I think the breakdowns of these heroes are amazing, but something stuck out to me in this one when you were talking about the speed of his OS light pommels strikes being impossibly fast. It is kinda a cop out but to play devils advocate for the speed, in lore, these factions have been fighting for literal thousands of years. I think. I remember Apollyon saying that in the old trailer. Anyway, it's entirely possible that evolution played a part in their ability to use weapons how they do and how they can take so much punishment. For example, maybe the reason highlander can use his sword so fast like he does is because, after fighting for so long, evolution has ended up making their muscles and bones much denser across the board. This also could play into why none of the heroes can swim, despite some of them being more than capable based on armor and weapon type alone. They are simply too heavy. Just a thought that occurred to me.
This video make a good highlander rework foundation. I like the idea in offensive stand you can’t block but you can crushing counter, and guard-break during OS = a pommel strike.
about limbs getting cut off i feel like i should mention the german knight that lost an arm in battle, got an iron prosthetic and continued being a knight for like 30 or 40 years and died in his 80s
I think they based a lot of his style off Siegfried from Soul Calibur, which is why he holds it with one hand behind his back and twirls around, and stuff like that.
The one thing with the bonecrusher execution, and with other mordhau striking executions, was that the hands slide along the blade... ya know what sliding your fingers down a portiom of a sharp blade can do
FINALLY HIGHLANDER HAVE A MAIL HAUBERK, YAY!!!!! Now... I need a Gallowglass real helm, ffs. 12:23 And for some reason they gave Gryphon this same animation... Why don't give some other animation? Better, why they didn't remaded it just like they did with the Veteran's kick? Guess we will never know. 13:01 Actually that's Apollyon's attack, just like her dodge heavy.
Slightly off-topic, but I think you'd like the game Hellish Quart. It's a fencing game that uses physics to determine if swords hit (so you can cut into an opponent's cut and the swords will actually clash naturally) and uses a lot of historical techniques. It's primarily 17th century, but there is one character who uses a longsword
Abt highlander zone, its true that his zone is good for more than one person, but it does a bit more damage than a light and can finish after a guard break if you need it.
Damm ur pumping them out, if you keep it up like this you are going to get through all of the hero’s real quick, try to mix in maybe more for honor content of aside from the hero reviews, or some medieval and sword stuff, so it’s not just all hero reviews. I do like these videos they are very informative and interesting, keep it up dude
I personally like that warmonger can use her sword in her left hand, as a left handed person it feels more natural to see her using her left hand to fight than her right hand.
Offensive top stance, he probably doesn't hold the sword with both hands from neutral to keep the enemy guessing if he's going to grab or swing his sword.
Hey, I just wanted to comment on your tail guard part. Now, I think everything you cover is great. However; I’d have to argue the contrary about the “guard” not being good. That sword of guard, from my experience, is quite effective when fighting more than one opponent. Typically, that sort of stance, is similar to quarterstaff in generating decent momentum.
Well cutting your hands means you have to be basically jacking off the blade, you can press the sharp side into ypu alot but still be ok but not reccomended but everyone here is superhuman What is not ok is catching it in midair like it won't slice you when you catch it
That top guard is crazy bad, but the funny thing is that there is a historical precedent for holding a sword well behind your back in medieval manuscripts. Particularly, in Fiore and other Italian styles, there are a few examples that show fighters holding their blade with the tip down over the shoulder and behind their back. Of key note, this is almost always in two hands, and in a stance that is primed and ready to do something with it. I can't tell you what the practical purpose of this might be, or if it is truly a guard or instead some transitionary stance/strike, but it does exist. It is also reasonable to say that someone taking the guards Fiore presents and those principles to a one-handed sword could result in a similar position, albeit with a single hand. That said, Highlander really isn't hitting any of the marks that might justify him adopting that absolutely baffling stance on the battlefield. Even Cloud Strife knew to save it until after the battle was over.
to be fair, in the universe of for honor the average strength of a human seems somewhat higher than would be realistic even for today, and many of the viking heroes seem to be designed around the idea of intimidation by having themselves expose their own weakpoints. cites: shugoki carrying around a club that is designed after the weapon used by oni, and the fact that raider goes into battle without a shirt.
hey dani, are you going to cover the new armor styles from the Chimera Banquet event? it looks like they included a lot of gambison/chainmail for the knights and vikings
Isn't kensei's sword said to be too unwieldy in his trailer because of its size but he is surprisingly much faster than the highlander when they both have very long swords?
Hey Dani, are you familiar with the Meyer quarterstaff maneuvers? There's a move where you basically throw one end of the staff while holding onto the other. I forgot the name, but it delivers an insane amount of force. Could such a thing be applied to greatsword techniques? Might excuse a little bit of the one handedness.
Staffs are not swords, they are significantly lighter because theyre not all metal, and you dont need to have an edge alignment which is crucial with swords. Swinging a greatsword with one hand would mess up the edge alignment way too hard
You gonna play the chivalry 2 beta? I’m hipped tho all the game really needs now is capes and a medieval backpack. Idkw but I just want my soldier to wear a backpack but soldiers need things when traveling. I mean Larry has a bandolier of pouches why not give him a backpack with it Larry has to store his banner somewhere and since most of his amor is already ridiculous.
Pointless to say it now but if you look on the for honor wiki for the Highlander it explains that he is in fact a scott who is only fighting due to past obligations to the Vikings
