Missed an opportunity to make a “bastard shield” joke. He has a bastard sword, which is like a mix of an arming sword and long sword, and his shield happens to be a mixture of both a kite and a heater shield. Boom, his weapons=bastards
Ok to play devil’s advocate, I like to think the reason BP is so “edgy” is because he is supposed to be the representation of Appolyons most violent and cruel men, hence the edgy executions and look.
The quality of these videos you make really reflect on how much time you spend making them. I love the educational side of it with the mix of memes. Pretty much how you wish a modern day high school teacher would give their lectures. Enjoyable and you actually can learn something from it. Love your vids man, keep up the great work!
What i hate about the new characters (aside from their 1-2 moveset) is that they went from types of warriors, to types of people. What i mean is, you cant *not* be an edgelord BP, but if you didnt wanna be a memelord shugo you could. If your buying BP to be a knight with a kite shield your also forced to be a 14 year old psychopath
I feel that, but with the new armors coming out, I feel that's going to change. Also, some of the armor BP already has is not bad, really it's just the helmets that are the problem. As for emotes and finishers, I feel like there are some that good and some that are bad that you kinda just have to pick and choose how you want your BP to be. I think how I made mine look like a Pseudo Knight's Templar doesn't look so bad given what I had to work with.
Not true actually, if you use the correct combination of armors, weapons, and designs, you can end up with a pretty non-edgy bp, for example you can use his bucket helm to make a Templar looking character.
you mean to tell me all that edge isnt historically accurate? also, burning wood is an okay way to keep it more or less waterproof, but that shield is burnt to the point of charring (all the spiderweb-y cracks) I am not too sure about how waterproof that would be but it sure as shit isnt structurally sound anymore
Funnily enough... being edgy is somewhat historically accurate, but I will get to that when I talk about the way he dresses lmao. Also that was definitely my suspicion when looking at the wood, I am glad someone was able to help corroborate that with me.
@@GoGoDani As someone who has worked with wood before, burning it to a level where it looks like that is basically ruining it. You're essentially creating a layer of charcoal waiting to be chipped off by incoming strikes.
I know this is old but i wanted to comment on that wood burning part with the shield as i like to mess around with wood and make things like tables, jewelry boxes, padios, ect. See when timber is heated it can actually cause the grains of the wood to, basically, fuse together making for a stronger board. Obviously this doesn't apply to all wood as some is softer, like birch, and it may not be as strong but most hardwood can have this done to them and get basically the same result. This process also reduces the chance of the wood rooting but it is a delicate processes as if you leave it in too long you run run the risk of burning, scorching, or cracking the wood
8:28 yes it does effect the strenth no if you ever got a hold of charcoal you can crush it to dust in your hand (unless if it's really thick so the outer layer is burnt.)
Burning/blackening was often used in constructions because wood doesn't rot and as you said its waterproof, but they were mainly used in structural purpose meaning it would be used in long logs to support the house, not as planking. It is not difficult to burn the wood correctly but it is true that it losses integrity if burn it to the core. The blackening process involves only burning the outside level to avoid rotting while preserving strength in the log. All this said it is true that it can be used in a shield but it is not practical as the shield would have to be quite very thick in order to work for a long period of time.
I actually didn’t even realize that the shield cuts off an arm. I’ve just been so intrigued with the throat slit from the shield that I’ve never even noticed
I only use that execution for the dismembered arm. The moment a character gets dismembered in an execution, they can't get revived anymore, even if it gets interrupted afterwards. This is extra useful in that execution as the dismemberment happens within 1-2 seconds of it starting, making it ideal for executing enemies while in a crowd of pikemen
15:05 I thought the same back in time, but I was terribly wrong, here is a distal taper, the point is indeed thinner than the ricasso, so this is the best blade avaliable in this game for Black Prior. If the Forsaken shield had followed the Forsaken handle and blade... it would also be the best shield in the GAME, unfortunately it is bad enough to be *forsaken* from this game, unfortunately Perfuga shield is the way to go.
I’m very surprised you didn’t say anything about the Apostate shield, since it doesn’t have any spikes or sharp edges on it. And also, The Faded Lux shield may have a spiky metal trim around its edge but at least it has some kind of ornate design in the center and leather, I assume, covering its face. Love these vids, keep up the great stuff.
I cut a lot of stuff out for the sake of brevity as I don't want to say the same thing for a lot of similar ones. For the Apostate, it does have those weird bumps that are supposed to be spikes I think. I wanted to focus on shields that had a distinctly shield like shape, and the weird warpings to the metal edges kinda killed it for this shield. That, and the incredibly thick "Y" shape metal langets that didn't make as much sense as cross shaped langets. As for the Faded Lux shield, I was thinking about talking about that one, but it barely didn't make the cut. I thought the serrated edges on the side are much more noticeable than other, and the fact that it has some sort of (what I can assume) soft metal edging like brass, bronze, or maybe even gold, just didn't make much sense. Also, there were some stitching on the edges of the shield that seemed odd to me. How do you stitch into wood? Why not just tack the leather cover down like a historical shield? Regardless, that was another good one, I just didn't have time seeing that the video was already pushing half an hour.
Idk if you'll ever see this but this is so cool, I've been wanting to find something like this for years I really love historical themed videos with my favorite game. Great video good sir 💪 keep up the great work
Bp happens to be one of my favorite characters because finally a sword and shield, i also tend to like the whole dark vs light characters which i did with my warden with one black and red and one white and blue. Bp is great foe the dark but has no options for the light which sucks. Also the long executions are cool but i like the fast kill one's like the shield headchop and the erzabet slice. Shield cutting the arm is definitely much though, the speed is helpful but I'd prefer if it broke his arm, not cut it off. War should be brutal so i want broken limbs, not everything should just result in a cut.
Wow! Great eye with the Kaskara hilt! It's always funny to see when the For Honor devs throw a historical design in among the endless slough of crossguards that look like they weigh 80 pounds. It really makes you really question what For Honor would look like if every hero had one or two armor or weapon sets taken straight out of a museum! The forsaken hilt reminds me of the Lockwood SL1009, albeit reconfigured to suit a hand-and-a-half length. Oh, and a pommel from a Talwar or something. Excited to see your take on the armor sets. If you do not share my opinion on which is the most historically possible, I will have no choice but to challenge you to a duel. Now, regarding the executions, you are correct to say that spinebreaker is really uncomfortable to watch. However, if you seriously think that Severe Sentence is a less stupid execution than Mala Ultro Adsunt, I will have no choice but to challenge you to ANOTHER duel. I'm not saying the latter is good, but that Severe Sentence may just be the single dumbest thing in the entire game. That is all. Great work as ever! Stay healthy!
I absolutely love the Lockwood SL1009! The green leather wrap to the grip is fantastic in my opinion, and there aren't a lot of high quality sword reproductions for later era longswords that focus on thrusting more than cutting. Also, I would have never thought of the pommel being from a Talwar but you are absolutely right. As for BP's armors, I've been excited to talk about them for a while now. I have quite a bit to talk about for them so I definitely look forward to it. As for the executions, I am biased towards Severe Sentence because it's so silly that I use it in duels to BM other players. I honestly unlocked this character because of the armor he has (like the lord helmet something like that), I want him to look like a knight and not an edgy boi but I don’t even have any of the things I want so.... Y I K E S
the funny thing is at 6:18 you can see 3 or more of his shields that don't even have spikes on them, like they WERE going to be a part of his moveset but then decided they were better off making conq's edgy step-brother instead
The spikes are used for his bashes. Bp has a few shields where the corner is blade like, he literally slices and cuts with it in his executions too. He's a custom kinda guy. I bet he'd have the front of his truck decked out if he lived today Edit: I'd also like to mention, I think in for Honor the heroes might be demigods...
A note about the flamberge effect on some of BP's swords, there are actually blades like that. Called Kris that were typically used by Indonesian cultures. Similarly there's also the Kalis from Filipino culture. Those all were actually pattern welded of iron and nickel. I've actually seen a Colichemarde that is quite a bit later in date than BP is 'meant' that was similarly with a flamberge. That might've been what they were going for with that design but why it would be on a 11th-13th century knight guy, I dunno but A E S T H E T I C S.
The muirgheilt blade is something more remenisant of (if my memory doesent fool me) dipping a damascus blade in acid thats why there is that pattern, now the acid is not a strong acid, as its only perpouse is to draw out that pattern
Quite the nice content here. I have a question: would half swording with the Mournful Sorrow or the Dies Irae blade be any different than with a normal one?
That's a really interesting question. If we are talking about the half swording you would do where you grab the hilt with one hand and the blade with the other to create more point control, then I would say that either blade should be fine as the flamberge effect terminates at some point in the middle for both. If we are talking about full mordhau style of attack where both hands are on the blade, I would think that it would be very difficult to do it with the Dies Irae blade just because you need the ability to create as much length as possible to generate a lot of percussive force. That being said, you could probably still do it with the Mournful Sorrow blade. I was honestly thinking about talking more about those blades when doing the VO, but the video was already heading towards 30 minutes long and I didn't want to take up anymore of people's time lol.
Actually i think adding a spikes to one edge of the shield is pretty brilliat idea (not for historicall accuracy of course).Black prior has many executions where he uses them, and for me his original shield has it's best option (no fancy teeths-just nails) it would be great as a giant knuckle-duster for penetrating armor if you use a shield weight properly.
Lmfao I'm so glad you made fun of that Erzabet thing because I was reading the FH wiki the other day and then I got to the Prior and saw that I legit had a field day with that.
Personally, I don't really care about the historical accuracy, it's nice to have something practical, yeah, but in my opinion I really just like to make my heros my own, I love the nights faction with a few exceptions like valkyrie, kensei, and orochi but I love customizing Warmonger, Warden, and Lawbringer, it's fun and I love being able to see my absolute edgy or ornate or down right just historical looking knight charge into battle, it's not about the accuracy, it's about having fun and looking badass
The mournful sorrow shield is rather practical. It seems like the closest to a real kite shield aside from the one with a face. And the spikes on it don't seem too insane on it.
I don't mean to bring up a topic of an old video (also someone may have already brought this up) but Lethaea's Fate came out during the Truce of Wyverndale, aka the time they stopped fighting and truly mourned their dead so it's understandable that it seems like a funeral effigy. and if you add the fact the Black Priors are all about death... kinda understandable... right?
i always viewed the extra edginess as a way to show of to your enemies, especially when he turns them around and slits there throat. idk if he did that to my ally it might get in my head a little
BP is Persian..change my mind But I have some questions. 1. Is Wardens Longswords length realistic? The video I saw about Longswords showed that they aren’t actually that long. 2. What kind of Sword does HL has? PS: A Zweihänder Viking would be soooo cool
Wait, I was hoping for you to talk about the apostate shield! It's my favourite shield on bp because it has no spikes, I thought it was the most "realistic" of them (despite not having linen or rawhide on it).
Lmao, that's a pretty loaded question. Since we can somewhat safely assume that the next heroes are going to be part of the Wulin faction, just due to the fact that there are two empty spots that need filling, then I defintely want one of them to wield the Jian. That weapon deserved to have a spot in this game and I think it's been a long time coming ever since they announced the Wulin. As for a new Knights, Samurai, or Vikings... Idk. It would take a lot more time to explain than just a comment. Maybe I'll make a video about it since I've had a few people ask me about this.
I want a Rapier and Parry Dagger hero with Germanic Gothic Armour/Musketeer, A Two Handed Spear Hero, A Mace Hero or if we're gonna go all out fantasy a Jousting Lance Hero with Jousting Armour.
@@onceaguard810 I am already in the works on a video for what I would like to see for new heroes. I am starting with the Wulin, but the Knights are right after that, and I know that a few of those things are pretty popular so I'll make sure to address them all.
I do have sources listed in my description. For the most part, I use ManuscriptMinatures for artistic depictions and such like that. Sometimes I browse online Galleries for actual museum pieces at places like The Met. And I also usually link the Wikipedia page to most subjects because that in of itself is a really neatly compiled source list. I also used a book called "The History of Armour 1100-1700" by Paul F Walker. That's where I got a lot of Kite Shield information. And then there is a lot of stuff that I just know off the cuff from studying these things for a couple of years. That's not really a source, and I don't like sharing that kind of information unless I can prove it, but it makes searching for a source easier if I already know what I am looking for. So sometimes I find myself looking in random places for odds and ends... Funny enough, Tumblr actually has a lot of great historical blogs. I am probably going to record myself making BP pt. 2 so people can see the process of making these videos.
In all fairness, I think the comparison with Warden as a longsword user also is a little... I mean, that hunk of Iron that Warden is swinging around is technically more of a greatsword, but with questionable dimensions. It's already a lot bigger than a typical longsword, especially if we consider that Warden is pretty tall himself. It seems like it would come from maybe the late 15th century when longswords started turning into Greatswords, still lacking the characteristically longer handle and the often quite wide guard whilst also being just a little bit too thick. But again, for a longsword it is already too long in my opinion, when he puts the tip on the ground he has the pommel pretty much at shoulder level when it should be on chest level.
I'm not a historical expert in the slightest despite it being my favorite subject to learn about, but would Hand-and-a-half sword still work in place of bastard sword? It seems better than calling it a long sword and the idea that Ubisoft wouldn't put bastard in promotional work makes a lot of sense.
Of all the Black Prior hilts, there is one that is my undisputed favorite, but I can't find it in compilation videos of BP's gear. The closest hilt to it is the Gryphus Obscurus hilt, but the wings are slightly wider. Can anybody help me remember what that hilt is called?
It might be Grief Keeper, but those are bat wings. Are you sure it was for BP? It might have been Warden, since he has both the Divine Right and the Egeking guards that have very wide wings.
@@GoGoDani I just found it. It's the Nether Malice hilt. That one and the Nether Malice blade actually make a pretty badass-looking sword for Black Prior. What's your opinion of that one?
@@kevinnorwood8782 Interestingly enough, I didn't have that one. I believe it's a event item and apparently I just didn't have it, but what's weirder is that it didn't even show me it at all in my inventory. Regardless, I looked it up, and I think it works. I wouldn't say that it's historical at all, but at least the crossguard sticks out long enough to protect the user, and it has a slim down pommel like the Apostate which should help the user hold it with both hands. For a low fantasy hilt, it's not bad at all.

@@GoGoDani Interesting. Thank you for replying. Also, your videos are really good, so I wouldn't mind them being longer to be honest
20:34 I mean the execution is called *S P I N E B R E A K E R* so most of your questions are already answered
"That thing got plans and it's not taking the warden with it"
Best. Quote. Ever.
Instead of saying ‘longsword’, if Ubi didn’t want to say ‘bastard sword’, they could’ve just said ‘hand-and-a-half sword’
Fun fact the fate signature matches the pose for the statue on citedale gate so close helm bp confirmed
Interesting to learn about my main
Lmfao I'm so glad you made fun of that Erzabet thing because I was reading the FH wiki the other day and then I got to the Prior and saw that I legit had a field day with that.
“Medieval enthusiasts or just enthusiasts of really big fucking swords,”
Hands down, best line of the series
Personally, I don't really care about the historical accuracy, it's nice to have something practical, yeah, but in my opinion I really just like to make my heros my own, I love the nights faction with a few exceptions like valkyrie, kensei, and orochi but I love customizing Warmonger, Warden, and Lawbringer, it's fun and I love being able to see my absolute edgy or ornate or down right just historical looking knight charge into battle, it's not about the accuracy, it's about having fun and looking badass
25:14 “centurion has one where he- hits things” Well said
I just thought the hilt could be something he kept or adapted while in he was in land from trailer (to me it looks somewhere arabic). That is All.
The mournful sorrow shield is rather practical. It seems like the closest to a real kite shield aside from the one with a face. And the spikes on it don't seem too insane on it.
this is literally a better version of that one channel that guesses which hero would win againts what
Metatron.
Only true viewers saw the end of the vid;)
I don't mean to bring up a topic of an old video (also someone may have already brought this up) but Lethaea's Fate came out during the Truce of Wyverndale, aka the time they stopped fighting and truly mourned their dead so it's understandable that it seems like a funeral effigy. and if you add the fact the Black Priors are all about death... kinda understandable... right?
i always viewed the extra edginess as a way to show of to your enemies, especially when he turns them around and slits there throat. idk if he did that to my ally it might get in my head a little
I want to see your reaction to viking executions
The only reason to pick up the Mala Ultro Adsunt execution is because it ledges
16:24
„Parier“ in Parierhaken, is spelled "Pa-rear" :D
i think the statue signature was intentional. thats the same vibe i got off it as well
I personally love angry BP especially since i am using him for a mock up of a character i made who is a very angry man. So its perfect
My eyes got weird by looking at the first shield, when the shield was turning I saw the shield inside out that fricked me out
I like the idea that ubisoft was afraid to put the word "bastard" in the store page of a game that features decapitations
Me: Nice video
Also me: 30:57 DANI YOU FU-*proceeds to be beaten by mom*
Dude the Muirgheilt blade was like, the second blade I got. You should use more scavenger crates
The muirgheilt blade was the first purple item I got at rep 3 on BP, so uh...
Opinions on the Buthidae blade? (The spiked ricasso seems good for trapping and impaling an opponent's weapon).
nice videos and i would be happy if you analyse the warlord..hi is my favorite :D
Just remember veni is one of the best enotes for vortiger for emotespam
BP is Persian..change my mind
But I have some questions.
1. Is Wardens Longswords length realistic? The video I saw about Longswords showed that they aren’t actually that long.
2. What kind of Sword does HL has?
PS: A Zweihänder Viking would be soooo cool
Brdn Highlander has a claymore
Wait, I was hoping for you to talk about the apostate shield! It's my favourite shield on bp because it has no spikes, I thought it was the most "realistic" of them (despite not having linen or rawhide on it).
What do flamberges on a blade do
I feel like they would have a negative impact on cutting performance
That guy who left a comment Its basicallly like a double edged serration that if you stab someone with it they‘re gonna bleed out in minutes
What would you like the new hero be?
What is te reason of the "spikes" in the shield I am searching in your videos an I cant found It
What websites do you use the most for your analysis?
What would he think about vortiger’s regards
I try to avoid all edgy BP cosmetics and all that, but something in me really likes that Slowly but Surely emote.
Maybe a LITTLE edge is ok...
Nice vid man👍
