I'm mostly Scottish from Ross county, clann Ross in the Highlands. "Aonghus" is pronounced the same as "Angus". It's just another way of spelling the name. Cheers!
2:20 well mate you messed up there, the old clansman would often use the exact same pattern of wool as their clan kilt/ kilt they were wearing, usually made from cutoff remains of their kilt. At 10:54 you forgot to mention the upside of that kilt that is the sporran seen on it. Also plaid is literally only used by Americans, it’s traditionally tartan and nobody Scottish says plaid Edit: yes they solid colours were used sometimes back then however, usually used by smaller clans that are lead by larger clans, also I am a lowlander so I may have made a few errors. Also at 6:19 the image you provided had a pleated kilt (unless you’re talking about that shite in the game there)
8:08 I've always really liked the Elatha chest for the undamaged kilt and sash, but those shoes just look so much like loaves of bread, and I just can't bring myself to see past it.
I feel like fur is something that is often just used wrong to the point where it confuses people. There are some fancy was of wearing fur that are occasionally overlooked, for instance a fur collar or having the opening of your sleeves lined with fur (the long kind, that is) kind of makes sense. It helps isolate the openings in your clothing where body warmth could otherwise escape. But having half a fur carpet tucked under your belt makes little to no sense, it's just a bunch of extra weight that could potentially get in your way when running,
The problem with the Snow Stalker set is that the tartan pattern is unrealistic. The Elatha set is the most realistic out of all the options (head, chest and arms). The Elatha kilt pattern looks like it was copied from an actual familial kilt, as it has the correct pattern and line work.
To be fair, in my opinion things like how certain things are coloured or the concept of face paints is something we can be a bit more lenient on since For Honor is only losely based on actual history and takes place in its own world that is basically fantasy. So, it may not technically be historical but it's not technically a matter of realism. You could definitely wear warpaint and you could definitely have a plaid bonnet because that isn't related to how things actually function.
Highlander makes me wonder if Ubi should add a Varangian Guard Viking hero, a kind of heavily armoured ex knight hero who returned to their people, because of constant side eye, prejudice and hazing by the knights for their origin. The only question would be what weapon he’d use, they were famous for using huge two handed battle axes, I’ve also seen them depicted with a long sword with a strapped on shield, kind of like a Macedonian phalanx shield.
They are said to carry a sort of compact two handed axe that can still be used with two hands or used with a shield depending on the time period, also having him have centurian inspired armours can make a connection between the two since varangians served rome technically
The fur could be written off as it being mentioned that the highlanders came from an icy region, so it acts as warmth or something. Maybe it's hard/impractical to remove it when they came to the warmer region that the game currently takes place in. Also it could be really hot for the highlanders, hence why they practically wear no clothes. That being said i'm likely entirely overanalyzing the situation, they probably designed him to look cool
Metatron and his GF did a video on the topic of Celtic appearance and tactics that is relevant. In that video he makes a good argument for the "paint" being tattoos.
Just a thought, I’m not a historian but I’ve tried to piece some things together…. Could you argue that Highlander, is of a Scottish decent but derived from Viking/ Scandinavian influence from when through out the Viking period, Vikings frequently made their way through Scotland and Highlander is born of the hard influence the Vikings had on Scotland and would be considered what we would call a Norse Gael or Gael Viking ?
I really want some tartan variants with some actual colour schemes. One solid base with two layers of overlapping lines. There are often more colours but obviously we’re limited here. I desperately want to recreate some tartans, including my own. Hoping they add at least something significantly different for him soon. Also a Sgian Dubh (wee sock dirk) would be a lovely detail, if they do insist with following this quasi-highlander look.
One or two shirtless options would be amazing as well. Muscular Scottish warrior going for full mobility and speed over protection. Albeit this might skirt along the border of Outlander “mummy-porn” territory lol.

Wales, Ireland and Scotland all have face paints in in there culture. If you go to Wales there's a lot of museums about Welsh life in the early bronze age. In fact Julia Caesar did see the celts use war paints while fighting the druids in North Wales. The druids pulled of the oldest move in the book called "im telling my mom" it was recorded that before the Romans fought some druids they sent a bunch of naked old ladys with war paint first. Yeah so scary. It isn't pop culture. Its just fact. War paint it very much used by celtic culture. Is it me or am I spelling celtic wrong?

Ey mate. Good initiative!! But i would like to point out that leather armor was actually a thing through humankind history. Even forearms protectors, yes. I know, movies and series do it in a ridiculous way and they use em as equipment probably for the wrong reason. But leather armor has existed and it was a common thing during many periods of history. I'm not stating this after having read a historian saying so without any back up. I study leather archaeological finds and replicate them. Could back up my claims with archaeological evidence if you are interested. Maybe through discord or something like that.
My ancestors did live in in Scotland after the king of Norway kicked them and other pagans out of their homes or were killed or force converted and during the scottish revolution they fought along side William Wallace but like most pagan families they were actively harassed by the church being badgered to convert or death basically long story short my ancestors put up a good fight but eventually the last member of my family a 15 year old was told by his father to convert but to keep the religion going is secret but he ultimately failed with his own children becoming Christian but a thousand years later I'm the only pagan in my family
