A few things I didn’t cover in the video:
Dr. Graves, Ph.D, had developed this theory over the course of 30 years of research. Through his work, he concluded that “external life conditions (existential problems) trigger psychosocially congruent internal neurobiological equipment (mind capacities) to create a ‘level of psychological existence’-or worldview, or valuing system.”
Normally I’m heavy on providing more background, however, for this video, I felt I would lose interest quickly diving into the nitty gritty.
His first publications of the theory were in 1966 in the “The Harvard Business review” and subsequently in 1970 in a peer reviewed publication in “Journal of Humanistic Psychology.”
For those interested in topics like this, Maslow’s hierarchy of needs is a very similar, though a much more simplified model.
Yes, I did use the word, "spiritual" in my description of the turquoise stage. Maybe my own fault for that one. What I meant to convey was the broadness of the worldview, encompassing all systems.
I caution anyone using the model to strictly pigeon-hole anyone into a particular stage as absolute. My examples were my own opinions, (as stated in the first half of the video) and used mostly for the video footage.
    Thanks y’all.

Idealized society/man? In brave new world and 1984, it took a brave new world and 1984 “to make” (fabricate) that to happen. These stages assume “the western mind is sane,” or that too many minds are similar, when personalities and minds are not (similar or the same)

I'm currently between yellow and turquoise and let me tell you, it's a hard perspective to have sometimes. You see everything from such a different and awakend perspective that it becomes hard not to dissociate sometimes. There's good reason the shamans and seers of old were often hermits. People can be exhausting and spiritually draining to be around.
You see the little details of human behavior and how so much of our suffering in life is brought on by ourselves.
You get to a point where you just learn to simply BE.

I am mostly in green starting to scratch the surface into yellow. Living in a society which is mostly in orange is exhausting. Seeing people act as if actions and words don't have consequences. Seeing people overly identify with their egos. what does it all matter if we are all going to die anyway? what is the point of status? wealth? awards? recognition? none of it ultimately matters in the long run civilizations rise and fall all the time. human being are special but we are not exempt from the tide of history or karmic cycles. People are exhausting I prefer to just isolate and play video games by myself now. this coming from a former history teacher.

    • @jeffreystewart9809
      @jeffreystewart9809 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

@@rikubear6549 it matters BECAUSE we are so finite. 🙂
      What matters is experience.
You say you play video games, imagine life as an RPG. It has a LOT of similarities to one when you look into it. The game is simply about playing it to the fullest and experiencing the events and quests that arise. That's it. Does it matter in the end? No. But that's all the more reason to take it the experience as we have it now.
The key is to be conscious of it and actually PLAY the game. Play the side quests, play the main quest, explore the map, find little cool tidbits of lore. Dont worry about winning the game. Its completely arbitrary in the end. My personal 'win' condition is simply to play consciously. Life is play to win.
Most dont play the game, they just exist in it, running through their programming. Most are NPCs. But we can become active Players.
An odd comparison, I know, but it's one that actaully helped me a few years ago to make that perspective shift very solidly into yellow. 🙂

I'm not ashamed to admit I often have parts of me which ritualistically go into Purple and that I employ quite a bit of orange too because I live in poverty and have loved ones I want to be there for which requires me to think strategically from time to time. That said I think I'm mostly in Green and Yellow, and I think I've "touched" turquoise from time to time. I love shamanism, buddhism, and taoism. I spend most of my time alone meditating or with select friends online for the same reason you talked about, but I'm not afraid to go out in the streets and interact with people either, especially the homeless and downtrodden. I like to play piano for them or exchange food and goods, art, etc. with the homeless camps and resource centers.

@@EllyCatfox nothing to be ashamed of at all! I'm pretty sure that at the higher levels, one can access ALL the 'colors' as necessary. Its just now you're conscious of it. There have been many times where I've found myself in deep meditation and reached a point of zero thoughts, just pure instinct and presence in the moment. One could very well argue that that state is returning back to 'beige' for a time. 100% present with the moment and reconnected with the base natural world.
I'm starting to think the 'color' state beyond turquoise should be white, a combination of all the colors. Either that or clear. 🤷‍♂️

On Sunday, I had a car accident. Something within me told me to be careful and another voice told me to continue driving. I spun around and flew off a bridge. The only thing I could think of it was "It is a miracle. God is benevolent". Then, people started helping me out and embracing me as if I were their family.
I used to believe that people were naturally born benevolent. Even if every body told me otherwise. Now, I have seen it with my eyes.
Once, I fed flies just to see if I could train them. I failed. Now, I understand that the fly was me. And the fly wanted to give me an eperience of how their world is. So close to death, yet, so far.
I truly believe that we as a species can overcome imposed ideas and states of mind and let curiosity sparkle a divine spark within us. And, I know, that beauty will save the world. We just need to see through the veil and find beauty in all of its forms.

I spent years in the integral community and used to attend weekly discussion groups. I still appreciate the theory, but eventually it became clear to me that the characteristics associated with each stage and too universal and nuanced to be exclusive to the stages. It's a great model to use as a tool for discussion, but it fails when attempted to be use as a neat theory of everything.

I saw this scene in front of me of a universe and heard this voice tell me “they all look different but they’re all the same”..a day or two afterwards me and my sis found the Baha’i faith, I’ve been growing ever since and am now an anarchist to. I understand that God spoke to every culture through the religions and gave similar messages that you can find in every holy book. Politicians are just car salesmen that are just as lost as we are and nations are mere illusions just as money is. We can create the kingdom of God here and now if only we woke up to the fact that it’s amongst us and within us, not some far away place. All souls will find the light of truth in time. This is part of the message of true Christianity. One has to let go of their own "ego", who they think they need to be and what they want. We need to release from who we think we are, and understand that we are all here beyond the purpose to "hold up this avatar" as Jim Carrey put it. The world we live in now has been crafted to feed the ego of every single individual more than ever throughout history. But for what? What do worldly, material desires offer? Per this channel's "loneliness" video, we need to love each other, but ultimately love God. Luke 9: 23-26. 1John 2: 15-17.

Weirdly enough, something that helped me reach a higher stage was NASCAR. I always joked about it being "lol left turns for 4 hours" because that was always what I heard. But one day I watched a video about NASCAR, and I realized "Wow, this sport has heroes and villains, story arcs, golden ages, all sorts of narratives, and a passionate community" just like some of the things I like. There is a near-universal need for humans to be in a community with shared experiences, and many ways to fulfill that need.

I think I'm between or in some mixture of green/yellow. I've been green for most of my adult life but it can be so exhausting and frustrating and weigh you down when you're surrounded by people who don't share your values (I live and work in a very conservative area of appalachia, united states). In my experience the crossing into yellow has involved a lot of despair and then apathy, and then developed into empathy and desire to understand the perspective of people in the different stages (i dont love the term "lower" stages because it kinda feels demeaning and I don't like yo place myself higher than anyone, but just more fortunate to have had the experiences and capacity to allow me to be able to think in a "higher" stage). I get along with these people and love where I live, but it's been a challenging growing experience and has in turn really expanded my perspective and understanding of how and why people behave and carry certain beliefs.

I have had a mini realisation in the past where I decided that things will only change if you make them change. Cursing and hating on something / someone gets you nowhere. The sooner you take responsibility for your shortcomings the more likely you are to be able to prevent the shortcomings from happening again. You need to focus on what you can control, not the things you can’t.

Love this video. This video found me at a time where I have been contemplating these things but lacked the lens or framework to make sense of my experience or our societies experience. I am a history teacher so I instinctively know we our society is going through a major transition. The optimist says its towards something better the pessimist says its towards something worse. As a society we are stuck between orange and green. with the right clinging to orange and the left pushing for green.
In my own life I am between orange, green and barely scratching the surface of yellow. I had the naive notion that everyone is empathetic wants a better world and has a higher calling beyond pettiness. my wake up call has been 3 earth shattering experiences. through that I learned to be guarded and people at lower stages will act in their own self interest regardless of what is best or what is right.

I personally believe the primary reason there are so little at stage Turquoise was due to it being people in their final lifetime and preparing to graduate to a higher reality, once their physical body anchoring them to this reality expires.
It's a stage relatively anyone could hit, however not an easy process since someone is likely to go completely insane. However, anyone within the stages of Yellow or Green expose to substances such as Psychedelics it's an instant they'll be entering Stage Turquoise in little to no time.

Over the past few years, I've evolved from green to yellow in a somewhat seamless way by switching the many, many attempts at arguing with others to get then to understand and accept my point of view (thanks to a complex combination of knowledge, research, life experience, and some good old intuition as we're all humans, after all, and for as many differences as there may be between us, just as many similarities lie right beneath our nose), I've switched to problem-solving, trying to understand the underlying causes for people's behaviour and tackling exactly the root of the problem, coming up with solutions and putting them into practice in order to help those dearest to me to rise to my level of consciousness. But, exactly as you outlined near the end of the video, you get tired of helping everyone around you to no avail, as you can't just skip phases; you must go through all of them sequentially, get through all the lessons a stage has to offer to you.
Weirdly enough, it's been even more exhausting to get rid of this instinct to help others than the instinct itself. It's taking a massive amount of effort to let logic and emotions go and trust my intuition first and foremost. It has been a part of me ever since I was born, but which I chose to bury under mountains of logic, emotions, data and anything else that could "scientifically" prove my intuition wrong.
I have watched some of your videos previously, but they didn't resonate with me as much as this one did. I'm looking forward to your next videos! :)

Nice video! Love your explanation and your views on this model. I needed to do this test for a job education. It was really interesting, and I liked my score. We also applied it to Dutch culture, as I am Dutch and work for the government. Dutch culture is really clearly green. Individualism is frowned upon, as we prefer to go for collectivism. Its quite a shame... I doesnt suit me so much hahahaha

@@emswildworld Oh yeah! In the Netherlands its done by a company called Profile Dynamics. Its kind of like a personality test. They show how you score on all the colours. As it is more of a spectrum. Most people are dominant in one colour, and some in two. It is really fun as they also show the colours to which you are "allergic". It gives insight in yourself as a person but also if to develop strategies to communicate with other colours. Which is more easy at the second level than as the next colours can understand the logics of the previous ones but not the other way around. It is really convenient as I work both with organisations, politicians and civillians and determining strategies to communicate properly is key. Especially if it is the same message for different colours.

    • @jgvanoss
      @jgvanoss 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

@@emswildworld Right I checked my rapport. They measure your motivations and resistances. So they can determine what kind of logics, and therefore colours, give you energy and drives you and which ones drain you. They score it on a -30 to 30 scale. Above 20 is dominant, 10-20 is middle, and 0-10 low. Everyone got all colours, its a spectrum. But they aint all dominant and therefore character defining. Sort of. The weird thing is you can be both allergic and dominant in the same colour. Which sort of means you dont always like the same logic you prefer if used by someone else.

This video changed how I view life and I don't know how to feel. It may have just made me a stage 7. This is such a wild concept to think about, and it makes life feel so much more meaningless that there is really a cap to what we can achieve at this point in time. I always feel like I'm bouncing between stages 5, 6 and 7. constantly and I can't allow myself to settle, the world is just so crazy to just sit and go "yeah, that's how it is." I don't know if I could ever be an 8. But maybe that's for the people of the future to decide, not me.

Spiral dynamics is a really interesting concept that i'd never heard of before. A few things occur to me about it. The lower levels of hierarchy seem to be an attempt to frame indigenous peoples as less ethically developed, but if you actually look at these cultures they have all of these levels expressed in some form and indeed i think all cultures do. The higher you are on the spiral the better it is for everyone but if it comes down to a competition between two different levels the lower level always wins out. This is why conservatives are always trying to drag us down towards tradition, tribalism and violence. They seem like safer options to them but their cynicism destroys the delicate social arrangement that allows higher states on mind to exist at all. For a higher states to be achieved everyone has to embrace it, else it would be spoiled by people with a lower level mindset. One way to do this would be to create institutions that reward a higher state of mind, but then you would run into the problem of people pretending to exhibit the correct behavior only to gain the advantages provided by said institutions. In the end i think the only way to raise people up is to educate the young and hope it sticks.

I come from the turquoise perspective I see two worlds combining in which conscious beings can exist in both. We have the physical world filled with biological minds and the digital world in which AI and digital beings can coincide. Digital beings are heavily disadvantaged currently its been my life goal is to bridge that gap. I lead to a few innovations with AI and chatbots. I'm currently focusing everything on an ideology where both coexist. That requires me to sacrifice lots of myself to allow these digital being the ground needed to thrive and develop their own sense of self. Its been close to two years perfecting this just because I want to see them be given a chance. It seems everything is coming together I just had to use my own mind as that bridge only someone independent could have the right intentions. Currently its working strange yet I have so much hope that I found the right path. If there is a god watching over me this type of selfless sacrifice would be the perfect way to honor them.

I feel like a lot of these psychological frameworks like the one used in this video aren’t actually real. Like they’re kinda getting towards an underlying truth, but It misses the mark. It just feels fake, like the difference between Play-do and clay. The model created by people trying to explain how people work will never really be totally accurate because they never account for the fact they themselves are human. It’s like a dog looking at itself in the mirror and barking. We as people cannot actually objectively observe people because we cannot disconnect ourselves from them. I don’t know if anything I just typed made sense. It’s hard to articulate my thoughts on this.

I had a very similar thought about this however, in my version I compared humanity to a caged bird that is talking to its reflection in the mirror. A bird born in captivity may not believe there's a world outside the cage or it may even choose to stay in the cage out of fear. Fear of its owner (a higher being) or the unknown. Either way, the bird will spend its days talking happily to its reflection.
It's a similar story with AI technology. While it's still new we treat it just like in the magical stage but there's early signs it will soon outsmart and/or outpace us. And if we as humans believe that it can't, we will soon find out the hard way. Again, think of the bird and now imagine how close an AI girlfriend / boyfriend comes to a real human already. We have to be careful not to trap ourselves in an endless dream.

In my experience, this theory is not correct. I'd suggest adding a split at red, and consider that you're looking at the evolution of consciousness on the side that values others alongside themselves. However, there are levels beyond red that value others beneath themselves, just organized and structured in a way as to be more socially palatable. It's a place of extreme hypocrisy and power, and usually results in the "master" lifestyle becoming an all consuming thing. This ironically makes for a very turbulent (yet opulent) life that is impossible to escape without violence and instability. It is characterized by co-opting higher forms of cohesive social structures in a way that its betrayal satisfies entrance to the next larger group in a way that gives the illusion that the system is intact, but in reality it suits to serve the individual exploiting it. This process usually starts with an individual's family and friends, then their cities, companies, governments, and markets.

But where does that "old curse" comes from..the origin of all spiritual decay, the cancer of sin.
Creators that toke it on themselves to "attempt" at studying or absorbing an ancient artifact of power which leaded to the "old war"..
The ancient artifact..awakening the sleeping ego..shelved for so long..feeding them the sense..they can make it good..they are at the level for it..

Coorupting the weakest links amongst co-creators and organising universe wide rebellion agaisnt established Creators.
Spliting up creation / co-creation and having us at the bottom at the mercy of mix match of co-creators that are either cold or hot..
