I love the idea of being able to put CS/workgroups into categories, but does it work? Gibbs interduce 'dock panes' in Gibbs14 (2020). Although I do like the feature, it needs refinement to really to be able to enjoy it. It's not uncommon for my 'dock panes' to move all over the place when I re-open a file from where they were when it was closed. What's up with that. Also, if a pallet is 'not docked' it will deactivate when you select a another 'non-docked' pallet. But if the other pallet is 'docked' the first pallet will not deactivate when you select the second 'docked' pallet. I think Gibbs needs to step back and address some the annoying things that the interface doses before adding more new untested stuff. I will say with the acquisition of Gibbs from Sandvik, I am starting to see some changes for the better.
I asked about adding a way to deactivate ops almost a year ago and Jeremy said they had something in the works... It looks like it'll be a good feature
@@cristinelpricop I used to work 6 years with mastercam starting with the 9er version moving on until X6. now since years hypermill is my fav system i work with.
@@peterkogler1762 I used Mastercam for 10 years. Now, for the last 3.5 years I'm a Gibbscam user. 🙂. What about Mastercam-Hypermill learning curve? Was it difficult?
@@cristinelpricop well i think its always the same. you are used to your old programm and you are trying to adapt same strategies and programming behavior. the switch and lurning curve was not bad actually. Its easy to learn but you have to let go some of your known tactics. I even switched from inch thinking to metric. All the 5axis stuff is stright forward and not to hard tu understand. 2D and 3D works almost the same. Big benefit is tool library never seen such an advanced system. You have to put some effort in to manager your tools and cutting data but once its set hypermill does its magic with feature and macro jobs an pulling the correct data from the library.
Gibbscam is the only CAM program that doesn't have a machining operations tree and uses tiles. By sticking with tiles and not implementing a tree, Gibbscam is having to put in all sorts of workarounds to try and stay competitive. It's not competitive. It's just an old legacy CAM program that's a mess.
Coordinate Systems (CSs) and Workgroups (WGs) can now be organized into categories on this 2023 release. Unfortunately operation not yet...as far as I know
@@cristinelpricop The result of not having a machining operations tree means way too many mouse clicks to get to needed information. Gibbscam needs a total rewrite to be competitive to non legacy CAM.
Nice videos, NICE to see GibbsCam is putting out more video so people that are new to GibbsCam like me can learn.

Thank you for your input. I will forward your message to development.

holy smoke is that based on WIN95? First look it´s really confusing so i stick with my known cam
what cam?

@@powershop1903 Mastercam or Gibbs? I would not say junk but when if comes to 5 axis and postprocessors I trust in hypermill
