      Hi nogoprecision. If you are talking about the XYZ coordinate arrows when you open a CS, it is automatic now. I believe Gibbs implemented this in around the 2022 version. There isn't anything to turn on or off, it is just there, unless you turn off the grid. Thanks for watching!

    Whenever I post a program with VolumMill, my feed is not what I put it to in Gibbscam, instead it keeps constantly changing. Is there a way to make it keep constant feed (what I put it to) while still using volummill?

    • @GibbsCAMVideoTutorials
      @GibbsCAMVideoTutorials 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Volumill will always be changing feed rates based on what it conceives as chip load on the end mill. Example, a long straight cut could go your programmed feedrate, but a small arc at that feedrate would overstress the end mill and chip load, especially going into corners where is might snap off the tool. Hope this helps. You could change to just a Roughing process, where is using only one feedrate, but normally you have to slow down the feed rate if you don't want the end mill to break in corners. Thanks for watching.

    Why do you not set the Z and Y axis rails and stop as part of the base since they don't move, same goes for the belt, pulley, etc. for the Z axis? Also I see no need for the X axis screw, motor, etc. to be separate bodies. This is all just a bunch of wasted time that does absolutely nothing.

    • @GibbsCAMVideoTutorials
      @GibbsCAMVideoTutorials 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You are correct that we can combine bodies as needed. This is just a sample on how to do it. It is YOUR choice on what you want to combine or keep as separate. Just an example. Calm down. Thanks for watching though.

    • @Mochinist-bk6yj
      @Mochinist-bk6yj 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@GibbsCAMVideoTutorials Calm down? People could see how to do it after the first 2 bodies. An additional 10+ minutes were wasted on parts that absolutely do not matter. There's so many things that could have been covered instead. I followed this tutorial to the letter which was a bit different than what I experienced on my end (V24.0.60) and there's still several things that don't work right. When I run the machine sim on a part. I set the POV lock correctly and make sure everything is set to visible yet the table and Y axis does not show up and no matter what options I choose the Z axis moves in and out on the Y axis (and correctly on the Z axis) The bodies ARE in the correct folders in the machine manager and the coordinates are setup correctly. Everything behaves fine in the Test Machine tab with the sliders.

      @@GibbsCAMVideoTutorials I loaded your tutorial model and was getting the same result. So I started looking into why this was happening and found that in the document control under the machine tab that it was still set to the regular 3-axis mill rather than the correct sim machine. Changing that fix all the movement issues and everything behaves correctly now.

    • @GibbsCAMVideoTutorials
      @GibbsCAMVideoTutorials 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Mochinist-bk6yj Glad you got it working. Remember when you run Machine sim, you need to fill out the lower portion of the Document Control section. The numbers that go in there are from your origin of your part to the center of the table that was set up in the MDD. The Z would be from the bottom of your vise to your origin. This would be a positive number. This will move your part up.

    Is there a plan to be able to label/rename each operation and put them into folders, including an unused folder for trial toolpaths that we want to keep but it won't post by default?? That would be a reeeeaaallll nice cherry on top of a great CAM system that Gibbscam is

    • @GibbsCAMVideoTutorials
      @GibbsCAMVideoTutorials 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, you can. If you double-click on a operation, then go to the process it loaded, then right-click again and click on "Save Process list" which will open a window and ask you where you want to save it. You can rename this anything you like. It also saves the tool you used. Then when you start to create a new part, and maybe you want to use that same process, you can just right-click the process box and choose "Load Process List", which will load that same process and create the tool, then all you need to do is maybe adjust your depths, etc, and you are good to go. You can also set a folder to "always" look in that folder each time. Many customer create processes for specific tools and materials, then they can just load a process and all it good to go.

    • @GibbsCAMVideoTutorials
      @GibbsCAMVideoTutorials 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sorry, I do not. I have not made one. Doing a 5-axis simulation sim would take a very long time. Just like this one here, you can start with a 5-axis machine in Gibbs then clone it for your own machine, then start importing the models and start to "tweak" everything to work correctly, and then you would need to test the rotations, etc on a real machine to see if the rotations are all correct. absolutely fantastic demo of how Swiss machines work as compared to the traditional CNC's I am use to programming!!! Your model up of the actual tools in their respective positions within the machine really cleared up the massive differences between traditional CNC tooling orientation and the (at least from my personal experience) Swiss tooling orientation. If you've never actually seen a Swiss lathe in action (as i haven't), its pretty hard to picture how this machine does what it does. What a strange but ingenious way to turn stock that has now been cleared up in my mind through your talents/effort with this amazing video. Thank you!!

    Thank you for producing this video. If you run out of topics to discuss, could you go over how the settings in the MDD can affect your posted code? I fought with a 5axis machine for over five years with the post department, only to find out that the post wasn’t working because the MDD wasn’t set correctly and the post department failed to recognize it. I am afraid that they are many more Gibbs users like me that are out there. The problem with the MDD was in the inter-op events and it was missed because this post never had a proper machine sim built for it. Gibbs should have never allowed this to happen.

    • @GibbsCAMVideoTutorials
      @GibbsCAMVideoTutorials 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for letting me know. I will have to look into this further, and go over how the inter-ops works. Within the last few years Gibbs has put out what they call "Master" posts, that will have all the necessary inter-ops and other features in the MDD, and then is usually what they start with when creating a post for a customer. Thanks for quick reply. It's this file that comes with the macro so it's the one I'm already working with. I am not a programmer but as I understand it, the macro takes information from the mill part and checks if it is INCH or MM, and recalculates the values to INCH if it is MM to calculate where the part should be placed in the vise. My question is more about whether it is possible to enter the three editable values at the top in MM instead of INCH. If anyone knows if this is possible, please let me know what needs to be changed, thanks.@@GibbsCAMVideoTutorials

    Thanks for taking time to put this video together. Could you make another video showing how the MDD settings can change the output of the posted code? Particularly in the machining preferences and interop events. I fought a 5axismill post for fives years because the MDD was never properly setup for the machine. There is little info out there and I feel like the post department could use improvement in this aspect.

    • @GibbsCAMVideoTutorials
      @GibbsCAMVideoTutorials 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This video is one that shows how to machine on main using a SLUG, then transferring to the sub-spindle. If you are machining from a billet, then parting off, then transfer to the sub-spindle, the use of the Utilities process changes a bit. I might do another video in how to program using a long bar. As far as your 5-axis post, the post department sets up the MDD in accordance on how the customer wants to program. I normally like to program from COR (center of rotation), which works very well. Some programmers like to program from the table top, but depending on how the customer wants to program will be how the MDD is set up. Also A and B axis sometimes have limits. You can always have the post department change the MDD to how you want to program 5-axis parts. You would need to be on Maintenance, as Gibbs does send out posts for older versions. If you are on Maintenance, then there will be a post charge normally, then you would have aprox 6 months to have them make any other changes at no-charge. Hope this helps.

      Click on this link below to get my color scheme. www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/n4qxmqsr4bde8w2pyy8kt/look10.xml?rlkey=zmpncmjt0pi5qdc4vfzvn4pfm&dl=0 Close Gibbs. Put it in this folder... c:/Users/yourname/AppData/Roaming/Cambrio/GibbsCAM/24.0.54/DisplayPreferences Re-open Gibbs, then go to Preferences, Display, then on the right, click the dropdown menu and choose the new name in the list, then your new colors will appear. You can also click the drop down for Op/Tool Sim or Machine Sim if you want those colors there as well. Good luck!

    Hi I have a problem about Move toolgroup Shift part Prakgroup Can you help me for what is thats

    • @GibbsCAMVideoTutorials
      @GibbsCAMVideoTutorials 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Normally you use MTG (move tool group) to get the turret out of the way before bringing the sub-spindle forward to get the part. Also if per say you brought up the sub spindle, then parted the bar, you don't want the turret to move back in Z, otherwise you might crash into the sub spindle, you just want the turret to retract in X before the sub-spindle goes home. Shift part. Many times your part is too long to make the cut holding with just the main spindle because of vibration, etc, so you cut some of the part, then grab with the sub, pull out some, then keep machining the rest of the part. That is where you use Shift Part.

      I am waiting for a reply from Gibbs to see if they moved the file, or it is no longer avialable. Should hear back soon. I have the file, but I can't link directly, as that might violate Haas rights.

    • @GibbsCAMVideoTutorials
      @GibbsCAMVideoTutorials 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It looks like Gibbs stopped the Machine Sim models availability for Haas machines. You can though download the models directly from Haas, but you would need to adapt Machine Sim to the model. There are Gibbs tutorials on how to do that. Here is the link from Haas to get the models. th-cam.com/video/PbqsWSmYnFs/w-d-xo.html

    Are MDDs and VMMs supplied by my DMG dealer? We recently bought our first new machines from mori nlx3000 cmx110v and nvx7000 and we’ve been experiencing some issues with missing g codes and wrong mcodes on the post. Will adding those files help with that?

    • @GibbsCAMVideoTutorials
      @GibbsCAMVideoTutorials 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Normally MDD's and VMM's are supplied by Gibbs post department. Note though that not all cnc's need a mdd and vmm. Once you have a machine that has say high-pressure coolant, air-blow, or other accessories that require special M-codes, etc, then you would get a MDD. Since the NLX3000 does not have a sub-spindle, you would not need a vmm. If it has a programmable tailstock you can request to have the tailstock part of the post, but normally you don't need it on a tailstock, as you have to manually set the tailstock distances anyway, then it's just one line of code to activate the tailstock (M25, M26). The cmx1100v is a 3-axis vertical with/without a 4th axis. That would not need a vmm either. Maybe a MDD if you have specific options. If you just received the post processors, you have time to test and then you can request some post changes if you need to add some specific options (hp coolant, air-blow, etc). Then the post department will probably put them in a specific MDD for you. Note: Some GibbsCAM resellers do their own posts, but for the most part Gibbs post department does them. Hope this helps.

    Hello , i cannot change the yellow arrow with the blue arrow , no matter how many toulsand times i lick the blue always looks in the same direction , what could be wrong , the shape is closed , was made with geometry expert

    • @GibbsCAMVideoTutorials
      @GibbsCAMVideoTutorials 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not sure what is going on with your part. You should be able to click INSIDE of the arrow to change directions. You might want to check your video card specs under Device Manager, then go to the video card mfg to get an update. I have seen issues with older video card drivers. Most video card mfg's update their drivers every few months. Also make sure your Windows updates have been updated.
